I can tell you for a fact it is possible
Thanks a bunch!
I really hope you are right about this. It would be so cool to turn on challenges to keep other play throughs interesting.
I hope for the same thing... Plus it'd make JoH less of an ultra-high-level affair.
Until they detail this new gameplay mode, trying to guess how to get the challenge mode achievements probably isn't going to yield any usable results.
Well, some of those achievements are fairly obvious.
Even Ground, for example, seems to be about enemies scaling all the way. No over/underlevelling. I know, I'm repeating things here. Never hurts to repeat it, yeah?
Fair Weather Friends is probably an approval modifier that makes it harder for you to keep companions. Much harder.
Travel Light is another of the modes mentioned. The icon shows a potion. Presumably, this has something to do with healing potions (and their potential unavailability/extreme limitation of amount of potions) and extra things carried in those slots (hmm, an idea I have is that you only have one slot, and a healing potion becomes a voluntary thing for characters, but I'm likely wrong)
The next I can remember right off the bat (I can't see the achievements right now) is Rub Some Dirt On It. The expression is used as a "Get over the injury and keep going" - maybe injuries will have some sort of consequence now, like in Origins?
Yes, we won't know much, but some are fairly easy to guess - others less so.

I've already played through the game twice, am I the only person who doesn't want to play through again just for some challenge based achievements?
Nope. I only play games when I feel I'll enjoy them, and achievements aren't a sense of enjoyment for me at all. I'll replay DAI because I've got all the DLC to get through now.

"Take it Slow on" pretty much speaks for itself. Its a setting you turn on. The leaked survey spoke of a new gameplay mode. This is a new gameplay mode (game modifier toggles).
I didn't smile. A little bit of snark doesn't have to be taken as a flippant insult towards you.
People complained of leveling too fast and overleveling content, so Take It Slow (slow leveling) + Even Ground (level scaling) is almost certainly (no, not confirmed until an interview or news release or the DLC itself releases) Bioware's response to this feedback.
Its not about cleverness, but a small attempt at humor. I'm sorry about miscommunication.
Interesting. It is fairly easy to out level some areas. Still, I think I like the challenge of hitting skyhold before level without the slow xp mode activated. Sounds like an actual challenge.
Thanks.

It should be simple with a solo archer. I was able to skip Val Royeaux completely using the Hinterland's map hole. Got to the Gull and the Lantern early. But I think going there to unlock Champions of the Just would be a better move since In Hushed Whispers gives you unwanted companions. Also, skipping quests like this can crash the game and even the whole computer.
I also solo'd Haven with an archer, and this was on Nightmare.

I go slow but not that slow. I want to kill things, collect fat l00t, do quests and explore the world. Level 5 achievement I won't get.

Also, among the achievements is something that mentions "Slaying a lvl16 Fereldan Frostback" - Fereldan Frostback is a lvl11 Dragon in the Hinterlands.
It mentions something called "Even Ground" which presumably would make all enemies scale fully to you.
Another achievement mentions "Fair Weather Friends" and reaching Halamshiral with all followers.
The Ferelden Frostback a level 12 actually as the dragons aer scaled from level 12 to level 22 last I checked or at least that's what i discovered when deciding to slay all of them in my second playthrough

Are you sure? I don't think the dragons scale anyhow.

You end up at Level 3 when you enter Haven. capturing all camps in the Hinterlands will give you the 4 power needed for Val Royeaux. After that you're either close to or at level 4, so requisition farm for the 15 power needed after that.
Why Champions of the Just instead of In Hushed Whispers?
The idea is to minimize the amount of combat you're engaging in. If it were me, I'd get to the Crossroads, get the quest from Mother Giselle, then head up and claim the Lake Luthias camp. From there, I'd close the rift by the Calenhad's Foothold occularum. That's 2 power. I'd pick up the Healing Mixture requisition from Mother Giselle back in Haven for the 3rd power point and get the 4th from the Inquisition Weapons requisition you get from Threnn. After that, start at the Outskirts camp and sneak down to claim the Dwarfson Pass camp. You get 2 points from completing The Threat Remains and a 3rd from claiming the camp. After that, I'd do a quicksave before talking to the requisition officer and reload until I got "Drakestone Survey". It's possible to farm iron in Haven, and there are a few drakestone deposits close to the Dwarfson Pass camp, so it would be possible to complete the requisitions without racking up XP in combat. Repeat 12 times. It would be boring as hell. Keep in mind that you're still going to get a few XP every time you turn in a requisition, but it's less than you'd get from completing actual quests to gain the 15 points.
I say Champions of the Just instead of In Hushed Whispers because you don't have to travel far to get there. You get a *lot* of XP from closing rifts, and you can't enter Redcliffe without closing at least one. You can skirt the one by Viv's Circle tome, but it takes you through some enemy-rich areas in the process. If I were trying to avoid combat XP, I wouldn't want to go anywhere near Witchwood, for example.
But frankly, I don't think it's possible to complete either CoJ or IHW without reaching 5th level, and then there's In Your Heart Shall Burn. Between the two, you get ~3K XP for quest completion alone.

yeah I'm pretty suer as I made a list of all the dragons where they are and what level they are so I didn't end up taking on one if I wasn't ready.
Here it is
Level 12 Fereldan Frostback found in the Hinterlands
Level 13 The Northern Hunter found in Crestwood
Level 14 The Abyssal High Dragon found in the Western Approach
Level 15 The Gamordan Stormrider found in the Exalted plains
Level 17 The Greater Mistral found in the Emerald Graves
Level 19 The Vinsomer found in The Storm Coast
Level 19 The Hivernal found in Emprise de Lion
Level 20 The Sandy Howler found in the Hissing Wastes
Level 21 The Kaltenzahn found in Emprise de Lion
Level 22 The Highland Ravager found in Emprise de Lion

No they don't for me either that's why I made a note of where they are and when best to fight them

I don't think I'd want to do it. You'd have to skip the sidequests and just do the main quests, then save them all until after you get Skyhold. Since there's only three large main quests after that, that means a looooooot of sidequests to do with few interesting breaks. Unless you skip the sidequests altogether I suppose. Probably makes the game a lot shorter.

I imagine there will be modifiers of some kind that make it all a lot easier.

Also, the achievement seems to mention something called "Take it slow" which could be a modifier for the game making this more possible.

As a completionist, this would be rather impossible for me to get without actively going for just the achievement. In which case, I would probably make a quick game and just head directly for the achievement, get it, and then start over on an actual game.

Are you certain we speak of the same kind of scaling...?
To scale levels = to adjust level according to players. At least in my understanding.

I think so I know Origins and 2 scale to the level of the player but as far as I'm aware Inquisition doesn't. Or at least it hasn't in my experience with it

Oh right I've not played Descent yet so I don't really know was planning to play this DLC in my next playthrough as well along with Trespasser. I was just saying that the main game levels don't usually scale to the player although the DLC enemies seem to as I noticed that the JoH enemies scale to you as well in my last run through that. However it's quite possible that Trespasser may allow for certain things to rescale to the player but again not having played it yet I wouldn't know. But in terms of the main game as far as I know right now it dosen't

When you download Trespasser, in the Options menu there is a new menu called Trials. In this menu you can turn on and off all of the Trials mentioned in the new achievements.
It does say to keep multiple save files however, as from the sounds of it Trials can bug out your game.
The achievement for reaching Skyhold before Level 5 needs you to use the Take It Slow trial, which makes you gain XP at half the normal rate.
