Overlord as the worst

Overlord is one the best DLCs, and most of your complaints are "well I knew the foreshadowing" which is completely obtuse considering you are role playing a character, not yourself. It also has the best combat music in the entire series.

Pretty sure firewalker qualifies as not-so-greatest.

best

Logic likes this is why no one respects BSN opinions. That the PC would be the best at every task and ability they know or undertake is the rote definition of mary sue.

That not only would you know your own discipline but everyone else's in equal or better grasp is bad design form and even worse storytelling shorthand, at best.

Recognizing, sure. Some basic dialogue that talks about the class is perfectly fine.

What I don't want is class affecting the story in a significant way. For example, two people are in danger, you can only save one, gotta make a choice. Unless you're a biotic, where you get a special option to save both of them.

That would ****** me off.

I don't think I'd mind that. Especially if the option won't even appear unless you are certain class. It'd make multiple play throughs more unique, IMO.

The only things we know the about gameplay are 1- that they're looking at ME3 and what it did well, and 2- that the studio making ME:A is the studio that did the MP for ME3. Even if they allow much deeper customization of powers I highly doubt they'll ditch or substantially change the class system.

Wait...what?

The studio that made MP is making SP?

Oh boy.

Just charge without nova is like warp without throw. No nova, no deal.

I hope we start out with the 6 default classes and via the passive skill you can evolve into subclasses, (e.g. Bastion, nemesis from ME1) which provide offensive or defensive bonuses to your powers.

I hope each power is tied to a power slot so it's impossible to go wrong for newcomers and veterans (balance) which would provide structure to custom classes.

E.g. Adept:

Primary: Singularity, Dark Sphere or Annihilation Field
Secondary (primer): Warp, Reave, Dark Channel
Tertiary (detonator): Throw, Shockwave, Lash, Slam
4th (crowd control): Pull, Lash, Shockwave
5th (direct damage): Cluster Grenades, Lift Grenade, Smash, Flare
6th (utility): Barrier, Biotic Focus, etc
7th (bonus): bonus powers

I don't mind the concept, but I wouldn't want the rigid structure of primers, detonators, etc.  But I kind of hate the Me3 everything blows up model.  Power combinations are a nice idea, but different colored explosions and set priming and detonating powers is not a win for me.  And I'd prefer if new powers came through evolution.

Excuse me, but if we're derailing into worst DLC, Pinnacle Station is the gold standard for worst DLC in Mass Effect.

Also, I really hope they stick with some of the class things from the trilogy. Not JUST because I love vanguard (I do), but because I really liked the differing playstyles, and there was a fair amount of flexibility within each class. Obviously, I'd like new toys. But I also hope to see tech armor, charge, singularity, cloak, and drones make a comeback.

But...Admiral Ahern. :(

"Your ability to weigh the pros and cons of standing in the way of gun fire seems to be improving."

One of the best lines in the entire trilogy, as far as I'm concerned.

Same. I'm not really opposed to new abilities. I just hope that they don't throw out everything I knew and loved from before.

i dont think so. I always felt the bonus power system was plain stupid. removed the uniqueness of the classes. plus there are many powers that are redundant. after i finished the game with 4 classes i never felt i want to still play with the 5th and 6th class, because there was literally so few things i didn't have before.

this is exactly what i want. except i think with that many powers bonus power is not really needed.

I generally like bonus powers though I hate how me did then. I'd like something more along at certain level milestones you unlock a bonus power. But I think it should be tied to your class. Using the above adept example I'd say your list is all powers not chosen in slots 2-6.

I bet they stick to the six classes.

Also, weapons should indeed be restricted in some way among the classes.  RPG doesn't mean "anything goes" necessarily.  If that were the case, you wouldn't have class restrictions on powers.

i think they tried to use the weapon weight system for that, but imho it didn't work out good.

They did, and it did not accomplish its goals.

different classes will not have a skill tree for different weapons like ME1 did. This time, they can add increased weapon sway and a bit worse accuracy for classes that aren't proficient in certain types of weapons. If our character is a soldier then all classes should still be able to use all weapons.

If there is going to be a redesign to the classes, I would personally like to see the Soldier or the Sentinel get something like power armor; similar to the exo-suits in Edge of Tomorrow

It would be cool to see something more physical than glowing tech armor, as well as providing a reasonable excuse why a non-ressurected, super-cyborg PC can grapple with Krogan.

Weapon weight isn't the only method to accomplish the same thing, namely striking a balance between weapons and powers.

So the other classes can never improve on certain weapons? Or did you mean they should bring back weapon talents?

Because people keep pointing out that we don't know if the classes will be the same as they were in the trilogy, which honestly had not occurred to me. I love the trilogy classes. They were symmetrical and great for my personal sense of characterization. I have some fear of change about this.

That's all I've got. I suppose I'm hoping for reassurance that they'll probably keep the old classes, or at least some educated guesses as to when we'll actually know.

Some think there will be a "create-a-class" others think there will be our standard ME classes, but with reworking.

I guess it's weapon talents.

Take the adept for example, specialized in only using a pistol. They would get a pistol skill that would be upgradeable lime ME1 but they would still be able to use assault rifles and shotguns etc. but you would get no weapon skill in your skill menu to upgrade.

I don't know how many would be in favor of this.  I am not entirely opposed, but if they are going to limit weapons this way then they should probably allow a choice of which weapon talent you have training in originally.

Practically speaking, unless they retool power selection for multiplayer compared to how it worked, I doubt different weapons get different talents in the end.  Of course many things need retooled anyway so that might not be a huge deal.

What I would like to see ideally would be a practical limit or restriction on weapons instead of enforcing rigid class restrictions.  Weight was an attempt in ME3, but all it amounted to was choosing the best weapon(s) since the weapon balance was pretty poor overall in respect to weight as they did not have enough discipline with respect to weight vs effectiveness.

I wouldn't be opposed to them bringing back tiered armor and tying weapon availability to it in some way.

In ME2-3, I played as Infil and Engi (sometimes Vanguard), Drell Adept in multiplayer.  If they have a class setup like the Drell Adept, it's game over.  I won't touch any other class in SP.

I don't mind Changes as long as they are good and provide good gameplay.
