And I was reminded of something that always bugged me about RPG games like Mass Effect. In some games you play as a virtual nobody who is forced to realize their potential by external forces but not Mass Effect. In Mass Effect you're already an accomplished military officer being considered for a major promotion yet you start the game no more powerful or skillful than a rookie. In games where the protagonist is established as an already accomplished hero, the player should start relatively high leveled compared to those around him. Like, in the case of Mass Effect, Shepard should have started at level 5 or something and the enemies should start at around the hero's level as well. Your squad should start a few levels behind you because afterall, you're the hero. A, this lets the player feel like they are controlling a powerful character straight out the gate, and B it explains why and how civilians can fall so easily to these starting monsters that fall so damned easily.

Make sence.
On the second play through you get an advantage, but I agree it should start from day one..., even a small level jump. (say level 3 or 4).
I think 10 is too much if the enemy are this level and not our squad, we will be forever saving there arse. ![]()

It's not as quiffy as the Witcher series though ... by the end of the first Witcher game Drowners flee your very presence in fear for their lives but at the start of TW2 they're kicking your arse again if you're not careful ... the same in TW3.
As for why peasants pick a fight with "The Butcher of Blaviken" I'll never know ![]()

Yeah 10 is probably too high. I'd say 5 is more appropriate but your followers should be a couple levels behind you because otherwise, any one of them could be the big hero if you aren't really all that special.

But hey, you are a player, not an AI. That is already the ultimate difference.
That makes you smarter, not stronger, not more skilled, but I see your point. Sometimes it is intelligence that wins the day.

I'm not entirely sure on the details but I think if you import a character into ME3 you get extra talent points and experience.
