So I read the leak for the 2nd time yesterday and I wasn't left with a complete positive impression but I saw something that interested me. It was about making Alliances with different groups. Now ME1, 2 & 3 sort of had this with making alliances with different characters but I think it could be taken to an even bigger level with a faction system that takes into account your relations with multiple factions and gives you different quests and different responses from different factions depending on your level of reputation from them.

What do you guys think about this?

That might work if the PC and Fire Teams were a Merc Group of sorts.

However, my understanding is that the team represents humanity as a whole. Any alliance with the local factions better take the long view into account, if this new series is a trilogy. Otherwise, the writers in a stand alone game can basically do whatever they want.

I still think that even if the player is the representative of humanity this means that a faction/reputation system would be really meaningful for the portrayal of humanity in this new galaxy. Things like making a deal with group A and it negatively affects group B, so group will attack you on site or won't do any deals with you at all.

I'm expecting there to be levels in your reputation with different groups so that it isn't so binary in which if you do one thing against a group then they'll always be against you.

Fallout New Vegas did this good but still had it's own faults that I want ME: Andromeda to avoid.
