Hello all,

I hope everyone is good.

Personally I am struggling to choose between assassin archer vs tempest archer (maybe someone can convince to go artificer with my elf but I already have a DW artificer as well) and have heard that thousand cuts exploits has now been patched. If anyone can offer any advice, that would be appreciated, thank you.

Thousand cuts has been patched for a while.
I'd go assassin personally. Tempest is very much a melee spec and artificer is very much a ranged spec.

For an archer, I'd go with assassin or artificer.

Assassin if you prefer being a sniper, artificer for more of a "close quarter" archer.
I suppose you can be a bit of both with a tempest archer but, personally, I found them a bit boring after a while.

Maybe some questions to help you figure out what you want to do.

1)  If you had to choose, full draw OR leaping shot which would you choose?

2)  Do you primarily use stealth to drop aggro or to increase damage?  Do you use stealth every chance it's available, or only once in a great while?

3)  Do you occasionally get bored and go DW for a while?

Hopefully some of these might illuminate play style preference.  Assassin use stealth A LOT and use full draw and hidden blades.  Artificer and Tempest archers both rely a lot on leaping shot.

Before 1.10 I would have been drawn more to Tempest.  The change in 1.10 that has altered my perspective is that of Shadow Strike.  It was a great ability, usable by even archers.  And I'd use it under Flask of Fire to stay perma flasked.  But now, that option is gone.  So the playstyle is a little more diluted and less varied.  I still believe Tempest is my favorite.  Flask of Lightning is just awesome and it's uses so varied.  I'd compare its tactical flexibility to an Artificer's Fallback Plan.  Assassin is fun too though, just not as varied IMHO.  Assassin is all about killing a single target as fast as possible.

Tempest all the way Imo, flask of lighting is awesome as it works to deal damage, get away from close enemies, and to disrupte rifts.

Ive been experimenting with gain guard on hit(FTsilverite and FTgurut hide) with poisoned weapons and combining that with flask of lighting and wow it seems as though I always have half to full guard
When I use poisoned weapons then flask of fire, combine with archer abilities(mostly long shot and leaping shot) it's crazy damage on a constant basis on hard or nightmare

DW Artificer is insanely fun and now very powerful due to the patch on upgraded Elemental Mines.
