Probably safe to look at when we flipped the darkspawn on after Descent dropped.

If they're holding off to avoid spoilers from Trespasser then it won't be before Weds as that's when it drops in the UK on PS, just a guess though.

with so many factions and so few maps we need the ability to choose faction and choose map, everyone has their favourite maps but random factions seem to give the same 2 10 games in a row, I played 12 matches on eleven ruins, the first 5 were all darkspawn then I had 5 venatori followed by 1 demon and 1 rt, I switched to orlesian chateaux and got 4 games of demons before I had enough and went to do something else, I hate demons and darkspawn because they have cheap wall hacking stunlock abilities that no other faction has and they take longer to complete without giving any extra exp esp when your all playing as level 1 and the team is full of starting armour noobs with zero promotes ...

Not being able to choose a faction smacks of 'we can't balance em' and we are afraid that some factions will never be played.

Well,if Biower can't balance them, they can make them all the same.Fullproof recipe from ME3 (gods excluded)

If anything it actually makes balancing them much easier since it would be very apparent which ones are never played and which ones are played too much ![]()

Yes well if balancing = no choice in the matter that is all well and good.
Not being able to choose factions really removes the functionality of a number of potions and or weapons.
It also hurts weekly challenges as well.

Not being able to select factions is ridiculous and stupid. As luke says, it should point out which factions are considered easier. Which is another reason to include faction selection. Don't you WANT to balance out all factions?

The thing for me and this went for ME3 as well that was as important as being able to select a faction was to be able to chose 'anything but'

Making enemy factions balanced doesn't require whether or not you can select a faction. ME3 let you select which faction you wanted, and by far, Reapers was the easiest. They didn't make any changes to that group, nor did they add in a new creature; even after the enemy balance changes and addition of Bombers, Dragoons, and Collectors. If anything, they should be looking at the completion/wipe rates. Demons definitely do need to boost.

Is it too much to hope we might see this soon? I really enjoyed the way ME3MP did factions. You can choose the one you want to play against, but you get bonus xp for doing random factions and more bonus xp for doing random maps (I believe anyway, it's been a while). It was a great system. Anything to help with leveling up and adding player choice.
I don't think armor shaders or a ton more armor options for high tier will be coming anytime soon/ever, so I hope for this change which seems doable (even if the bonus xp is not implemented).

And what does it matter if players would choose one faction over another ... let the ones who play the game decide how they enjoy it.
I mean there are many games but I´m playing DA. Or should I roll a die to decide which game I buy? Sounds silly, right?
Without an option to choose enemies you force players either to play it in a way they don´t like or to quit and restart until the desired enemy shows up.
The last one is time consuming. The first one just an insult.
