2 things to note:
- the shock effect combo with mark of the rift to put mobs to sleep (unless they are immune to either shock or weakened)
- it also increases the speed you play your note significantly (so you can switch songs much faster)
During testing, I actually managed to constantly alternate between power chord and mark of rift one after another, thanks to the increased rate of which notes can be played.
First thought when I saw the staff.
I run Mark of the Rift most the time anyway, I'm not giving up my crit damage though. Someone else in the party needs to follow me around with that staff equipped...

Just play around a Sara that's using it...

If you get a bard following you around with that staff, you should make him spam the mark and you spam the chord...
