Better then the Archdemon and Loghain.
Loghain would have totally worked for me. Well, that he had to be resurrected because of my story arc would have killed the mood, but otherwise. ![]()

Very misleading thread title... leading to one-off answers that have nothing to do with the OP.
Actually there's a decisively mixed assortment of races that determine the zeitgeist of DA's world, and all races have some sort of "glory days" to refer to- "paradise lost"- but, yes, ultimately DA does appear to wish to take the trajectory of Lord of the Rings: everything but humans will eventually fade into oblivion. And all the lore goes to rationalizing it. I mean, dwarves have a deep history but they can't keep their self-defeat at bay enough to rally against the darkspawn that are constantly breathing down their necks. And elves, well, get the short end of the stick: you get to wipe out entire clans in both DAO and DA2, and there's no way they're ever going to be anything in DA but weak nomads, weak alienage second-class citizens, or assimilated. Qunari haven't got a "glory days" for their ancient past, but they've been contained... for the moment.
But that's not exactly "failure," as you title the thread for some reason. Humans seem to make out quite well- as tends to inevitably be the case in fantasy settings. And qunari aren't exactly out of the picture... yet.

No dragon age is about the world that people live in I thought and what is going on at those times and places...could be wrong, but never saw any dragon age story has just about one thing alone

Sometimes I wonder who is more silly, Mage fan-boys or Elf fan-boys. Both of them equate themselves to make-believe groups and act like they somehow are a member of that group, but at least Mage fan-boys incorrectly draw a parallel between being a mage and being nerdy and ostracized.
I have no clue what makes Elf fanatics think they are secretly Elves and personally affected by Elf oppression....

If you play through the main quests in the Hissing Wastes in Dragon Age Inquisition, Deep Roads section of DA2 and Orzammar in DAO, you could say the exact same but replace all the elven related words with dwarven related words.
What about the constant Tevinter crazyness in the face? What about the Qunari always trying to conquer everything for the Qun?
Your complaint makes no sense to be honest. It's like you're judging a square by simply looking to one of its 6 faces.

Completely opposed to the OP, what he claims to be a failure is the only reason I enjoy Inquisition. I love elves, they are the only anchor keeping me in Thedas, and a heavy one indeed! Well previous to Inquisition I didn't know EVERYTHING I loved in Thedas was elven, but now I know. And of course it is the only thing I look forward to in the next games (but I doubt they will be this "elven heavy"). I wouldn't be surprised if the old gods and the blights are also related to elves (but it would be a lot more creative if they went dwarves with these to keep things balanced).
The thing is - Solas ![]()
Edit: No, my main is not an elf... well wasn't now it is probably going to be my main, I'm not saying it was Solas but it was Solas

Better then the Archdemon and Loghain.
Ah, I disagree. While the archdemon itself wasn't strong as an antagonist, I thought Loghain was very good. Loghain and Saren are my favourite 'villains' of the two franchises, with Saren winning the top spot by a country mile.
As for Cory, he was a very interesting character, but the problem for me was that his interestingness wasn't utilised or realised. He had a lot of potential, and there were so many opportunities there to deal with some very interesting topics, but he was given so little screen time there was no chance to make use of him in that way. Had his presence been treated in a similar way to Saren - in that we see snippets of him at regular intervals throughout our journey, even if it's cut scenes we're not a part of, and there's a sense that we have to get to X before he does - I have no doubt he'd have been up there at the top. As it stands, we see so very little of him, he bookends the countless hours of busy work, and he doesn't, therefore, do the job an antagonist should do - which is to provide the almost omnipresent threat, always hovering in the background even when he isn't on screen. You might have some down time, where you're able to forget about his ominous presence for a while, but the story would have been stronger had it snapped you back to him more often, to give you a reason to remember who exactly it is you're supposed to invest your hatred in. Neither Solas nor Flemeth work as stand-ins for that because we don't know their role until the very end, and the breach itself doesn't cut it either, because it has no real motivating factor other than being green and swirly in the sky.
Of course, it needs no explanation that this is all subjective.

After reading the OP, it seems they just don't like the focus on elven lore.
I disagree, though I would like to see more lore on the Kossith and Old Gods in the future, with less elven focus.

DAI was a very solid game and it has a lot of replay value. A failure? Nope.
Could it have been better? Certainly, but such can be said about most projects in hindsight.
I definitely rank this game among my very favorites.

I LOVED DA:I. It was a step in the right direction for Bioware after the bitterly disappointing Mass Effect 3 and the absolute horror that was Dragon Age 2. Sure the story is flawed, especially the missions before and just after you reach Skyhold (parts of it were clearly supposed to be in the cancelled Exalted March expansion) and the villain boring, but most of it, and the fact that my Inquisitor (the return of race selection was definitely a HUGE bonus - I love elves!) felt like my own character again (unlike Hawke), along with the brilliant companions and my relationships with them made me love the game.

Better then the Archdemon and Loghain.
Corypheus ended up being no better than the Archdemon which is an indictment on DAI. And Loghain is definitely more complex and nuanced than either.
And the characters themselves are amazing. DA I is the first game where the characters do not, to me, feel like caricatures, or characters, but actual people
I like the cast but I don't think they're any more or less real than the cast of DAO or DA2.

elf fan self-importance is not, in fact, the driving plot or motivation for the DA series.
Hey now I'm an Elf-Fanatic, I love me Elves, in any setting where I get the option to play an Elf... I'll play an Elf, my Elven PC's in Inquisition outnumber my PC's of other races combined... and the ending of Inquisition made me a very happy camper indeed. It was awesome, it pushed all my Elf Fan buttons and my love of DA. It left me feeling blown away, so it's not Elf Fan-Self importance! It's 'Gotta have the perfect happy ending' folks.
