Since Origins I had found funny that Dragon Age avoided the common trope of Elves and Dwarves being enemies or disliking each other. They seem to had their differences but not a real antagonism.
But I found a codex that may shed light on this. I don't remember the exact text, but it suggest the dwarves are not the children of the stone, but they merely adopted it as the elven overlords (Elgarnan scorching the earth with the sun maybe having a role) shoved them under the rug.
It's mere speculation, but it could have been a good reason for the dwarves to supply with lyrium a certain bunch of men of the north to give the killing blow to those who forced them into the underground. With time they chose to forget that they were not always lords of the underground and erased any data from before, including that of titans that provided them with the tool to achieve greatness.
Any ideas? Or am I just grasping at straws?
