Assuming there's ever a DAMP 2, what do you want in it?

I'll post my wants later. Also, I'm well aware that it depends on whether EA/Bioware decide to ever want to do another DAMP. Think of this as a hypothetical topic.

Good god man, that question is probably 3-4 years away.  Would be better to discuss what is wanted for ME4 MP

Actual resources and support for it.

This is not a jab at the devs that actually work on it but to whoever it is that assigns the resources to the projects.

Why would I ask a question about Mass Effect on the Dragon Age forums? Plus, DAMP (in terms of new content) is coming to a close pretty soon, so while the developers are still here scrounging about, it'd be good if we gave them some feedback about what we'd want out of the next game. And yes, I am looking forward to what ME:A MP has to offer.

Ditch the rng and promotion system that would be a good start.

Ditch the promotion system, no region lock, a higher level of quality control so things like the key glitch dont happen. That single bug killed a huge portion of this games population.

I enjoyed my time in DAMP, but it was fleeting. That enjoyment, once golden, was turned black with the passing of time as I realized how limited it was in comparison to other co-op options out there.

I gazed upon the seat of DAMP, and found it lacking.

-------

So. . .I'd really just like more DAMP in general: More support, more optimization, more characters, ETC. Though I'm not sure I'd play it as the gameplay just didn't sit well with me as much as I hoped it would.

. . .also add Mabari. That might change my mind.

- Keep the promotion system but put in soft caps.

- No duplicate RNG.  Weapons should have levels just like ME3.

- Ability damage *NOT* tied to weapon damage.  Ability damage should be fixed.  This is the worst mistake they made in DAMP.

Agreed.

+

(at the least)

Ability to buy crafting materials

Layout change - scrolling scrolling scrolling = not cool, poorly optimized layout overall, and views of loadouts

Character Creator - ability to create our own characters and draw from class pool of abilities

Character viewer - a proper rotational model of our character to view what they look like with various armors prior purchasing/crafting/configuring

Armor - Pieces of armor, able to mix n match (similar to ME3)

Modes - different modes of play to mix things up

Custom Builds - allow for multiple builds types, complete with appropriate armor config, weapons, accessories (useful per different enemy faction) [Titanfall is a great base example]

Map/Enemy/Difficulty selector

Player stats viewer – as in ME3MP, ability to see player’s weps, accs, loadouts, and perhaps even ‘missions to date’ (simple indicators of player experience)

More maps - min twice the current amount, including also hazard variants

Ability Trees - do away with the current layout where precious points are wasted.  Allow multi-tier system where players can choose what they want without being forced to use passives/abilities that the player does not want.

Accessories – more spots for accs (ie 2x ability ring, 2x perk ring – at the least)

Player created maps and events - would love to see the community submit their own maps, modes, events to BW for review and perhaps have these added to the DAIMP roster

RNG – if there is to be RNG in the next, the algorithms need to be dynamic to ensure players are able to unlock all items (ie Dragon Racer has waited how long, how many chests, how much gold?  To unlock a Superb Life-Drain ring, when some will receive that so much sooner – something is severely broken with the current system).  RNG needs a flavor of equality—actual fairness to all players—in terms of unlocking items at a steady pace.  Yes, ME3MP RNG did a horrible job with that also.

Silent Characters - Silent Sister and Saarebas are great characters, but the lack of communication was a poor way to go.  How about these types of characters still have a way to communicate (text and/or hand signs)?

... may add more as ideas pop up ...

That way, we could use our shitty level 12 dagger that makes you move faster in stealth, if we so pleased.

Yeah you guys have pretty much taken everything I could've said.

Figured I'd give my two cents.

- As Sulaco mentioned, either have a soft cap on promotions, or don't have promotions influence stats at all. By going this route, it benefits everyone. 1) It allows for the devs to normalize a lot of the gameplay mechanics w.r.t. each difficulty, 2) It promotes skill rather than gear, and 3) it helps take away some of the anxiety newer players have when it comes to playing on higher difficulties vs promotions.

- Promotions could also be used to grant players different items or bonuses (ex. Increased potion capacity). Promoting a specific amount of times for a particular character should also grant a unique item (weapons, armor, accessory) specific for that character; with a unique bonus.

- The store chests should have rarity tiers from the get-go.

- Add more Master rarity items to the loot pool that aren't just relegated to a high item level. This would let players who are relatively new still have a chance at getting a really good and unique weapon.

- More base maps from the start.

- Instead of having different color derivatives of each armor tier, make it so that we can find parts to each armor tier that slowly improves its quality. Players should then be left to tinting (coloring) the armor themselves.

- If healing fonts make a return, it would be great if a player who didn't use it got a bonus to experience gains in the next zone they enter. Alternatively, if we choose a random map, we should get an experience bonus.

I think the focus, in a macro level, is what makes the game more fun? (And also, what introduced too many headaches for the developers?)

Headaches: promotions. I think this is becoming a uniform position, but the promotion system is probably not ideal.

I think it would be awesome if it was tied to a really cool cosmetic option.

Speaking in terms of MEAMP; what if you got a cool helmet or helmet visor for being in the top 10% promotes for a three month period. Then a less cool helmet, for the next 10%, on down to everyone that participated got a participation visor.

Then maybe next three month period you were promoting for a cool backpack (you kept the previous cosmetic item).

That way when you join a game, you can kind of tell how advanced a player is by how cool his gear looks.

Fun: Its not fun to play a level one character.

Some classes aren't fun until they are level 15+.

And most classes are most fun to play at level 19 or 20.

Meaning, the vast majority of time, you are forced to play each class in a not-fun manner.

This wasn't a big deal in MEMP, in my opinion, because your character was stronger unleveled.

Especially for DAMP, it would be much more fun if we at least had a full load out of abilities, with being able to upgrade them, or replace them, as we leveled.

Perhaps less focus on character promotion more focus on build / class specialization. Acquiring items in map to help with gear creation, customization (nothing expansive needed, let us tint stuff how we please). Maybe more events per zone and variety of events* all on larger maps.

*hold a passage while NPCs escape?
*CTF-ish like event with a pursuit mob?
*disable transport vessels / close portals?
*environment traps? think Raiders of the Lost Ark
*team puzzle for additional treasure reward /or short cut?

Have a SP side story of no overall impact, just immersion purposes for the Player Character and the base Multiplayer Characters. Something like the Inquisitor and Sutherland's group.

More like ME3MP. Less Zerg Rush dungeons and everything's disposability is totally malarkey.
