My Inquisitor made a promise to him, he saved him anyway, now I hope BW allow us to fullfil that promise, to end his insanity with his death.

Even if he dies another mage/god/whatever will jump in his place
.
Avoiding pretty much he is like reapers in ME practically invincible enemy so without star child (Deus ex machina) i don't see him being defeated.

i hope we can call time on all elves, wipe their pointy eared sense of superiority from the face of Thedas once and for all
and everyone will die with them=)

Or simply they will keep going with that for few games until they are done with it as they pretty much do in assassin's creed.

He wants to kill everyone who isnt an Ancient Elf, how is it not necessary?
Well ,you can always allow him to do that. ![]()
More seriously , they can as i said keep going with that plot for many games ,using magneto as an example guy had similar plans and yet guy tends to stay alive. Also they may go with save solas with power of love as it seems already give you option to opt for that.

I have faith in his redemption, I like to believe that he could perhaps see reason or find a less bloody path that leads to his goal.
To spill his blood would be such a terribly tragic waste of such an intriguing and grand character, a last resort I solemnly pray we won't have to fall to.
I myself, await what occurs next with barely concealed anticipation. ![]()

He seems to secretly hope you can stop him and prove him wrong. He's a mess of confusion and wants to be stopped, but can't stop himself. That's why we can choose redemption over killing him. He needs to see reason and he's not completely beyond it yet.

When it comes down to it, Solas is allowing his racism to define him. He admits that the Enuvaris were horrible people who did horrible things. But he is willing to chance their return, quite literally, because they are elves. He is willing to destroy humans and dwarves simply because they are not elves.
He deserves death.

I dont think he want to save the elves, Cole says he killed Felassan because he saw the elves of this time as "People". He only cares about the ancient elves, the elves of this time (Dalish and City Elves) are not included in his new-old world. When it comes down to it, Solas is allowing his racism to define him. He admits that the Enuvaris were horrible people who did horrible things. But he is willing to chance their return, quite literally, because they are elves. I don't think he's racist, as he views modern elves the same way he views the rest of the peoples of modern Thedas.
It's more correct to say that he thinks of the entirety of modern Thedas as a mistake he needs to correct. He wants his world back, partly (I'd imagine) because of homesickness and partly because pretty much everything shitty about modern Thedas is indirectly his fault (elves dying and essentially slaves, spirits possessing people to experience life, mages getting locked up in circles because they get possessed). In his mind it's a lose/lose situation. Either allow a shitty world to get shittier or try to undo his "mistake" and hope for the best.
On the other hand, he seems very reluctant to go through with his plan, and even hopes the Inquisitor can stop him. I think there's a very real possibility that he can be saved.

I agree hence why if you are friends/romance he wants to treasure the fact that you can possibly prove him wrong. Even when you are friends with him he does not reveal too much of his plans because he has to be careful about the trait he likes about you. Your "thoughtfulness" deep down he wants you to prove him wrong but he is a mess of guilt and homesickness.
Mages locked up in towers, spirits possessing people and elves in chains and treated like crap. Hence why he feels he needs to change it as a friend you want to prove to him that there is another way he can do it.

This is the actual truth if you are a friend or romance. He says that YOU changed his view and he wants you to prove him wrong, show him another path and help him out of the darkness. Tossing him aside after he helped you for a very long time and saved your life is terrible in my view.
Of course if you were on bad terms, then by all means, kill him lol but even on bad terms he saves you and respects you, though he knows you don't feel the same.

Well yeah most people would want to kill him but the reason why he likes you so much is because you have an open mind and you are thoughtful. Hence he leaks approval when you ask him questions and you are observant about stuff. He would expect you to try and kill him but instead you wish to save him from himself and that's why he likes you so much.
That's why he wishes you to prove him wrong because you have done it so many times you are always beating his expectations hence why he believes you can do it.

Yep so I'm not giving up on him until there is no option to save him given in the dialogue box.

I've always hated him, but he's officially joined Sebastian on my murder knife list.
Also, my favorite part of the DLC was:
"Viddsala isn't going to kill Solas. I'm going to kill Solas."
*Vivienne greatly approves*
*Cassandra slightly approves*

I don't know how he hasn't minded aim a shotgun to his fcking face, he says he wants to save elves, but he is the major threat for elves and for anyone/anything else, elves were not the only ones screwed, Dragons and Titans seemingly were sent to sleep after his failure, then he left the Witches of the Wilds and a bunch of ancient Elves trying to clean his mess and preserving the little they could, and the first thing he does when he awakes is put a magical artifact on the hands of a clearly maniac dude that was about to screw everyone.
