Haven't played yet but I find I'm primarily miffed at him for making it sound like anyone is welcome in my spy focused Inquisition. I bet several peasant villages have spies in my Inquisition too. And a goat herder and the Anderfels. Several Orlesian cheesemongers. Little Billy the Baker's Boy from Denerim.

Hence why I have been saying since finishing the game, SolASS doesn't know what he's doin' ™

That slogan only grows more relevant every day (not surprised whatsoever that this DLC reaffirmed it).

Solas = DAO Loghain + DA2 Anders + X-Men's Magneto.

Once you understand this, you understand Solas as a character. Whether you want to kill him or not is up to you but personally I would rather talk him out of it or find a way to depower him.

Like it or not, Solas is still a mage. A mage's power can be blocked or nullified, regardless of how powerful a mage is. The best way to deal with Solas is to get a group of Seekers. Which is probably what Cassandra is doing if you let her to do so.

I was glad I got a "but I want to go and do the genocide stuff with you!" dialogue option. (I guess because I chose "Whatever you need, we can find it together" in the last romance scene after the Well).

It went... well, something like this:

- Sooolas, but I want to go and do the genocide stuff with you!

- Vhenan, I can't do this to you. I can't make you a monster (like me)!

- Pleeease, Solas? I wannawannawanna go with you!

- No. (dramatic voice) It's a path that leads to death! And anyway, you got the Inquisition.

- (pouts)

Okay, it was somewhat more serious, but I was glad that option was there. Reminded me of Anders telling Hawke that he couldn't allow her to help blow up the Chantry, because it was a Very Bad Thing.

(so at least Solas knows that genocide is a very bad thing, huh? Maybe here's hope for him yet, says Captain Obvious).

A female elf picking the genocide option is just wut.

That's a level of stupid I can't fathom. Or maliciousness. Not sure which. The only time it could even make a smidge of sense is if your whole clan died and even then it's a pretty heafty level of absurd.

Yeah, because it's terrible to be roleplaying in a roleplaying game.

Still kind of stupid because the people SolASS is trying to restore are not really her own...

But if the player wants to RP as a fool (or is one themselves) then power to them.

I suppose if someone wants to roleplay a racist elf that doesn't care about their own life it makes sense...but then there are Solavellan players actually thinking he's right and hoping he succeeds.

Just like good friends don't let friends be a part of the Qun, I believe that good girlfriends don't let their boyfriends commit genocide...

Indeed- words to live by. He's hurt too many, and instead of attempting to repair what he can in the present, he would double down on the mistakes of his past.

I reckon the end of DA4 will see the end of elves and the dragon age, making way for humans. No way will Solas be successful.

When it comes down to it, Solas is allowing his racism to define him. He admits that the Enuvaris were horrible people who did horrible things. But he is willing to chance their return, quite literally, because they are elves. He is willing to destroy humans and dwarves simply because they are not elves

He deserves death.

and the modern elves too, city and dalish alike. they're no more elves to him as he's presented in trespasser than the humans are. let's remember the delineation he lays down - his people are the ancient elves, not the elves of today.

elves of today (of either origin) are not-elves to be swept away like everyone else when he presses Reset on the world. the odd few seem to be chess pieces he moves around in pursuit of his goals - some of his agents are modern elves I reckon, they won't all be Abelases.. from an end slide some modern elves seem to be off to join him and add to these ranks.

anyway while he seems to care about these chess pieces in his own strange way, at a basal level they're a means to an end; tools, not still not hsi people. hell they're not even people at all most of the time, particularly if he hates the quiz or you didn't romance him.

Indeed. This already was a problem with the base game as well -- which makes this doubly silly because even if our own agents did so utterly f*ck up as to leave the doors wide open for everyone under the sun at first, they should at least have learned from that and tightened security ASAP after the first assassin got in. I might (*) give them a pass for missing a small number of agents from an enemy that couldn't have possibly been on anyone's radar (ancient elves serving the Dread Wolf), but not for the enemy we all know is an enemy, i.e. the qunari. It's a shame that poor Leliana and her crowd are painted as so incompetent once more. It's like they never do anything right. Just why is the Nightingale feared so much, again?

(*) And I actually kind of side-eye Solas' agents too. If they were ancient elves, how the bleep did he prepare them for this job at the level of skill and deceit they would need in such a short time, including learning the language as fluently as a native speaker (though that always seems to get handwaved away when a special snowflake from the good old days needs to interact with the modern-day non-people) and completely different cultural mannerisms that become second nature, as well as hiding their supremacist attitudes towards said modern-day non-people? Hell, how did he pick all that up so quickly? Also, just how many of these ancient elves are there? It's not much of a near-extinct civilization if they have oodles of agents everywhere, enough to make people worry as the epilogue implies ...

Solas Fen'Harel, whoever or whatever he is more than willing and capable of destroying the world and killing mostly everyone who is not an Elf, not to mention releasing ancient power mad elven demi gods. This is a war for the very survival of the world and humanity. A world where elves are immortal and wield greater magic than humans could ever fathom? We wouldn't stand a chance. He must be stopped. Let's hope Tevinter has suitably powerful mages to oppose this man, but we'll have to wait for a while to find out. Until then beware the Dread Wolf.

So watched two videos of the Solas romance from trespasser, and both have chosen the "Let me help you Solas" option. Really? He just said he would destroy the world, and everyone in it. My inqusitor would never turn his back on the people who have served him. Including Leiliana, Cassandra, Cullen etc. And he is a dalish elf too. Not in a romance offcourse but still- Considering how Solas best intentions have been shown create disaster once, would you really risk it for someone who has already lied to  you several times. And doesn't even see the elves living now as real elves. Love makes blind I guess

I like romancing Solas but if my Lavellan truly loves him she will help save him, not help him purge the world. I will agree to nothing but helping to change his mind and save him from himself. That's what a friend would do, and lover or not, he needs a friend not an ally.

Thats the one I would pick. Help save him from himself. And I think a part of him wants you to stop him as well. After all he could just have let you die, and not alerted you to the invasion.

In the friendship only dialogue he says he will treasure the day I prove him wrong again. I really think that's his way of saying "help me stop myself before it's too late" and Cole's comment in the main game about Lavellen being real and she couldn't be to Solas, it means he's starting to see the world as a not so bad place and is wavering in his feeling to see the Elven Empire restored and all but ancient elves dead. Same with Cole's words about a sad wolf with a slow arrow. His friend died because he was real.

since my

Warden was elf male mage

Hawke is a male mage..actually i am not really care about hawke..only for merril

and my Inquisitor was elf male mage as Inquisitor Ameridan

and my Tevinter hero would be elf male mage and will romance elf girl

I am not sure that i want to stop someone to make them and others like Merril and Velanna immortals who will live in paradise=)

i am sure that many nonelf mages and elfbloded will survive too and we can understand that dwarfs just have their titan-"stone connection" back and have their minds in one

so i kill Solas after he will do a job to take his powers(if this would be possible) and become right hand of a true god of Thedas-Elgarnan the ALL FATHER.

Pretty much. Lets hope that there will be an option too change his mind and not to kill him in the end. Sounds like he is not doing anything for a while just yet though. Who knows if its even going to be the main plot in DA4. But whatever happens our inquisitor wont be the playable character. Any potential new character wont have any relationship with Solas, making it harder for them to convince him not to destroy the world. I think if anyone can convince him it would be the Lavellan  that romanced him.  Though a cameo is probably likely.

They might pull a Hawke/Warden thing again and have your Inquisitor choose to stay with him or fight him and you have to decide.

Yeah, honestly before release I was not interested in solas but when I talked to him with my male mage Qunari all the interesting things he had to say just drew me in and both of them became friends quickly. At the end all I could say is DAMMIT SOLAS. I will prove him wrong. :(

We'll have to wait a while to stop him. In the meantime I suggest we revise our knowledge of Tevinter, read the upcoming comic Magekiller based in Tevinter, Minrathous specifically and check out the new Mass Effect game. Might to an epic replay, all the games again for nostalgia.
Farewell Dragon Age you've been fantastic, absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So was I. ;)

From my perspective, even if you manage to talk him out of it this time, ultimately Solas is too dangerous to leave alive.  Unless you find some way to permanently keep him from regaining his former strength, there's nothing to stop him from getting desperate or depressed in the future and trying this whole business again, only without anyone to stop him.
