The $50 platinum only gives you a few days worth of moderate grinding in chests.

Eh wasn't the cap 10,000 items not chests? In which case several people would have already been there.

Nvm, I made an error.

Still, platinum is useless.

I talked to someone who spent $100 on platinum... Was a new player that doesn't have enough time to grind because only can play on weekends... He got nothing of use.

The game is built around this slot machine casino rng system and is a very predatory and anti-consumer approach to gamers.

Personally I'd be happy to buy character skins, weapon packs and map packs, but never in my life would I spend hundreds of dollars on slot machine rng.

Agreed. Even with a high or max loot score is still too random. Weekend warriors have some of the most rare items and leaderboard players do not. And vice versa. If you spent around 2-3m You shouldn't have to wait forever to pull good purples. Platinum is a joke... I'd rather buy maps or skins (within reasonable pricing).

If you keep spending money after not getting anything remotely of use with the first 10$, you have a problem. Alternatively, you have enough money, and can ignore said problem.

The thing is, it was never anywhere, ever, advertised that Platinum guarantees you better loot. If you can twist and turn and view an offer from every side, and still agree to its terms, you have no grounds for complaining.

The reason why the above gif remains strikingly accurate, is because people fuel this mechanism with money. So constantly and overbearingly in fact, that it remains in every major release, despite the whidely terrible reputation it has. It is like every business practice evidence in itself.

I don't like that my favourite restaurant has a machine that wants people to buy & smoke cigarettes either.

Paid map DLC would divide the community

Having to pay for weapons would be pay to win and that would enrage the community.

Skins however could be a good idea, as long as they were cosmic only had good variety and cost < $5. It would give their artists something to do and allow for another avenue of income at a better value than platinum. Spending real money for a chance to get something that isn't real will never be good value.

Platinum as in real cash should go to a totally separate treasure table with some kind of high end reward.  It wouldn't have to gibe out the best weapons aka hakkon etc but there should be a tangible reward.

The only community that is left is the people that would buy map packs....

The time of dividing community is over as the real community died during the key glitch era... Now it's just hardcore fans who would buy map packs before they'd ever spend money on platinum.

This is exactly why it is anti-consumer, it specifically targets "Whales" and therefore the whole game is designed around getting their cash.

But much like the restaurant you go to... There is food on the menu to buy... Ain't nothing for me to buy in the DA:IMP restaurant.... The only thing I can buy with real money is casino rng currency.

That's what happens when your favorite restaurant is a strip club.....

Maps.  Would totally pay for maps.

If they sell maps you can pretty much play alone most of the time. Have fun!

And selling weapons and mods etc without a slot machine system is pretty much pay to win. Will destroy the game even more. I honestly feel sorry for the people who bought platinum and got nothing out of the chests.

There is no winning in co-op.... You keep the god tier weapons like hakkon locked behind NM and Heartbreaker and sell some other uniques so there isn't a huge 10 month grind to even get to the NM dragon for newer players.

Also, plenty of games use weapon packs and skill packs and like Naughty Dog with Uncharted MP and TLoU MP and you are at no dissadavantage from not buying these because it's balanced.

Also I know many people who would buy map packs so maybe you'll be the one playing with yourself.

I am happy to pay for vanity skins, costumes or even gimmicky equipments.

But I won't be willing to pay for new maps or enemies in this particular game. I just don't like the idea of walling off players for not paying enough in a co-op game in general, especially when it is a game we already paid a pretty high price for. Maybe after a few more expansion pack, maybe. I don't think every region has enough players to support this divide, nor do this game (MP) has enough content to support having extra paid content.

Those are huge sellers on most MMORPG.   I would definitely pay for cool looking armors and weapons.   Who cares about stats when you look good? :P   Whoever worked on the Saarebas armor should go and rework some of the other armors. ;)   Some of them need.. a lot of work... just saying. :P

I agree that they aren't a good idea, because it divides the community, but they do sell.

If the platinum cost is reduced by 90%, then I would consider spend £15 to buy some platinum.

It would have to be way more than halved. And it would be purchased solely to help fund further multiplayer support.

Maybe they should just have a tip jar:

You buy some platinum and can write in some kind of feedback message.  You are guaranteed a response from a Bioware developer.

I would rather KickStart a new map fund than put any money towards that slot machine RNG game currency.

Just saying.... I wouldn't buy platinum ever.... I do not support these systems in games. MT for glamours is pretty bad too, but atleast i know what I'm buying.

:D
