Please, no one. They had their time to shine, now it's time for new people
So who's most likely going to retain companion status in DA4?

Dorian is the only one that makes most sense, but I really hope we just get a fresh new group of characters. Aftering seeing several of the same characters through 2 or 3 of the past DA games, I would like to see a change if DA4 even happens.

Dorian the Bae is gonna become Archon, he has no time for peasants.

No one.
Seriously, Solas is being set up as the big bad, and, as Leliana mentions, they need someone Solas can't see coming.
I don't think anyone. because they say it will have to be people Solas doesn't know. He would know anybody from the inquistion through spies or having meant them.
Thanks for catching this. I seriously didn't pick up the implication that the need for unknown people to stop Solas is going to mean all-new companions for the next game, but now that you point it out, it makes perfect sense. And I suppose an all-new protagonist as well, even if it feels lame for the Inquisitor not to be centrally involved, mumble-mumble....

im hoping for the Inquisitor, Hawke and the Warden, only our 4 pc's can taking on the bold god of destruction.
But realistically, Scout Harding, Shale.

If we get new people I want Morrigan's old god child if we're going after Solas.

Like others have said, Dorian and Sera are the most likely to appear in the next game, though as to what their role will be, who knows. Scout Harding also has a fairly decent chance in appearing as well.

Dorian most likely

I'd vote for none. I liked seeing Varric again, seeing Anders again... but by all rights they should have started at lvl 25 or so where I'd left them in the previous game. Makes no sense that Varric started as a Lvl1 flunky in DAI after I'd loaded up his gear and shared all that experience with him in DA2. If any come back, I'd rather they do so like Leliana did in DA2 and DAI or Morrigan in DAI: a veteran NPC with lore, but no longer a companion.

Hopefully none. This time we have a reason to not bring back old people. And please no more Leliana. After three games it is enough, really.

With the vastly different endings per companion in DAI, I don't think anyone would be carrying over as a companion in DA4. Now cameo, given the strong implications of a Tevinter setting naturally I'd say Dorian.

Cole could return to the Fade so he's out.
I wouldn't say hes out, they've wiggled the epilogue slides before he could easily come back
That would leave Sera as a possible hangover
Maker no!

Not sure if an mmo will have companions.
1. ![]()
2. SWTOR has companions- five per class.
3. Dorian is definitely going to be involved somehow.

I'm going to imagine Dorian is a definite, even if it's just in reference.
Your Mage just walks down the halls of one of their Mage Academies, passing by a group of students
But yeah, Dorian seems like a definite appearance, or at least, reference.

Would love to see Kieran too. Could be that by the time DA4 is up, he's already an adult. Aaannd probably we'd get to get a glimpse of his mom being the next Flemmythal

I think he will be going to be a important NPC, specially because he is the leader of the new faction.
I think Scout Harding is going to be a companion in the next game.
I think Dorian might return as an advisor type person, Harding will become a companion and we'll probably get all new companions for the rest in the next game.
I think Dorian might be too important to be a follower, especially being a follower for a totally new PC.
Agreed with all of this. I don't think Dorian is going to be a companion in DA4. He's been set up as a major player in the Imperium's political scene. He's the head of a noble house and leading a new faction of mages. I think he'll play a role for sure, but he'll be a major NPC. I still suspect that Maevaris is going to be a companion in DA4. She'll be tied to the "reforming the Imperium" plotline and will be a direct connection to Dorian.
I still strongly suspect Harding will show up in DA4 as a companion. Think of all they've done to set her up for it:
- She was a prominent NPC throughout the vanilla game and was featured notably in 2 out of 3 of the story-based DLCs
- She was a quasi-romance, which has led to her having a strong fanbase
- Her role in the Inquisition is the lead forward scout; it's her job to be the first on the scene in a new area and act as the eyes for the inquisition
- In Leliana's epilogue slide, she's listed as one of the people who Leliana is grooming to be her successor
- She's in the very last scene in DA:I with the Inquisitor, Leliana, and Cassandra right when they, literally, turn their eyes to Tevinter on the map
I'm still expecting to see her as a ranged rogue companion and an ungated bisexual romance option (dwarf romancers unite!).

Dorian will be there, but whether he continues as a companion remains to be seen. His status within the Imperium changed, so he could also be a candidate for advisor, if Bioware does something like that again.

I'm against returning companions.
Now, returning NPCs as companions or companions returning as NPCs? That I find probable. Dorian is almost certainly going to be returning, probably working to further the fight against Solas on the Inquisitor's behalf. I think he'll o that from his position as a magister though, not joining another adventuring party.
I'd love to have Harding as a companion. There're no variables to deal with her, so it wouldn't be hard. I'd also still like to see Charade again, but I don't find that likely...

Smart money's on Dorian and Scout Harding, particularly after that final scene (and the reveal that Tevinter's the next location).
I WOULD'VE said Iron Bull too had it not been for the possibility of killing him in this DLC.

If they come back later that means they can't shouldn't die in DAI and they can't be made Divine, soooo: Dorian and Scout Harding.
But If we count the Multiplayer characters we have plenty of possibilities (pleaseee bring Isabella back) ![]()

I think Dorian, but not as a companion
Also Cole has a good chance of appearing again to help I guess

Scout Harding is almost a definite, I think. Really seemed to build her up towards the end.
As far as returning companion members...possibly Cole, as he has an interest in what Solas is up to. I think Merrill could be another possibility. If the Inquisitor is gathering up people Solas doesn't know, Varric would surely direct them to Merrill. Merrill figured out on her own a lot of the stuff Solas later revealed to be true! That's pretty impressive. She could be a big help, and we'll need someone to be able to talk about elves.

Yeah Dorian and Harding is the best bet. Harding easily fits as the ranged rogue companion and she fits as the eyes of the inquisitor for the new pc oh and she is well liked by the community. Plus its pretty obvious Dorian is going to be in the next game as an important npc.

I also think Dorian will be an important non-companion NPC, similar to Morrigan in DA:I.
