I would like to do a clean install of ME1 and would like to save my current progress so if I just save my Save Games folder is that sufficient?
Also , how come if you want to load a previous save, this action removes all the saves above it.?

That... never happened to me. Then again, I only use one slot per char, I hate clutter. Yeah, the Save Games folder should be enough, but remember to also save your profile file.

Dethater, Do you mean that you continually overwite the same slot for the char you are playing?

Yeah, pretty much.

I've never had that problem with save games, although I have noticed that autosave is always top of the list even if it is not the newest save, so try checking the second save in your list

This profile file is a bit worrying/confusing, I never finished the game, Reinstalled the lot and started again. Created a new character, who has a profile file that is the sme name as my old character, so what do I do, interchange them when I want to play my old char and be very careful not to mix them up.

The profile file actually contains stuff like your settings and any achievements you have earned. And I understand that if you rebuild your achievement list from a savegame it takes something like 10 minutes for that thing to load.

So can you tell me, how do I add my saved profile and game saves for my other character soldier who finished most assignment but has yet to go to Vermire? Or is this not possible.?
The reason it got screwed up is that I installed Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Stn and was looking at some recommendation of Win7 that said I should install an update to fix my problem! Typically the install was the 1.02 patch that was included in BDTS, and I I should not have used the stand alone patch as ME1 came up with all these missing convo errors and had to close! Real pissoff.
So I did reinstall ME1, and decided to play as a Sentinel thinking I would get the choice of shock trooper and or commando later but I was quite dissapointed to find that I never got those options but rather medic or bastion and no weapon specialization just health and better biotics, HUH ,
Think I am going to try another class but who gets what extra specializations?
Are ther other ones besides ST/Commando or Medic/Bastion?
