SPOILER WARNING: This happens if the Inquisitor did not complete Bull's Companion Quest and if the Inquisitor did not choose to save the Chargers.
This version is the "Bull stay Qunari" version so the Inquisitor is called Basalt-an by the Qunari.

So if the Chargers are alive that doesn't happen? I thought that would have happened either way.
I had Iron Bull and the chargers (saved the Chargers) and he never betrayed my Inquisitor. So only happens if he's still part of the Qun, not Tal Vashoth.

He only does this if he remains in the Qun.
If the Chargers live option is chosen on his final Companion quest Bull will be no longer a member of the Qunari so he does not have any loyalty to them.

If you don't do his personal quest the Chargers can live, but that means he remains Qunari.

The Chargers are alive if you don't do his personal quest but he betrays you anyway.
I'm kind of questioning why it took him that long to actually turn on the quizzy. Honestly, I would have thought it would have happened at least midway through when you started to realize what was going on. Also I'm almost thrilled about this because I have a quizzy that can do nothing right (literally she fucks up everything she touches) and now I'm definitely going to have her romance Bull. That way he can turn on her so not only will her lover die, she will have to be the one to do it, AND she loses her hand. Damn poor quizzy.

It would have been his ticket back into the Qunari's good graces. The ol' tap on the shoulder...
This is why friends don't let friends stay in the brainwashing society.
You really bring it on yourself.
But the dreadnoughts...
But the dreadnoughts...
Sooo not worth it.
Plus look what they do the moment your back is turned. Can't trust a Qunari.

It's speculated that he was simply bullshiting everyone right from the start in this dlc and he waited till he was ordered too (since he believed with such a high number of qunari, they could do it)

That is a worse betrayal than Solas. He even does this if you romanced him?
The part that hurts the most in his betrayal is his line. "Nothing personal, bas." That crap is just very powerful as it shows that a Bull that stayed with the Qun never cared or respected the Inquisitor, it was all an act.
Since 3 of four games I let the Chargers die and one of them I romanced Bull, I;m going to make it a point that my Inky personally kills him. Nothing personal, Bull.
Nothing personal, Bull.
You're a terrible liar, bas.

Did she still try to get him to betray you?
Did she still try to get him to betray you?
Wouldn't that break the characterization of someone in the Qun? Once a Qunari becomes Tal-Vashoth, they should be like dirt to them and treated as such.
And that is why I didn't take Qun bull with me, he still shows up all bull like even if he isn't in the party

Not really. If she thought Bull would have any regrets becoming Tal-Vashoth (and to her own opinion she probably would assume so) killing the Inquisitor would be a good way of getting back into their good graces.
Besides, gives a good opportunity for a scene for Bull to tell her to F off.
Bull call me "Bas" on principle for that mistake I swatted him like a fly. I earned that "Basalit-An" title dammit
Still though he made that particular section annoyingly hard after he died, that Dragon and Spearman part was brutally aggravating without a 4th man
Isn't that basically a worthy foe.....remember hawke was called that also...
Notice how he calls you 'boss' all the time, then he calls me bas and all of a sudden I knew he was playing me from the moment the Chargers died.
