This is actually a pretty good idea.

I'd love for classes to matter a bit more in terms of cutscene variation/problem resolution. I dont want to see paricular classes having advantages in different situations, more that classes should be able to achieve the same outcome with different animations. I just replayed the original ME on backwards compatibility on my Xbone after not having played it in years and I was really surprised that there was no mention of my Shepards biotic abilities at any point.

This is actually one of the things they should do if they are committing to have multiple classes. Why? the question should be: Why not?

In any cut scene we saw until now, there's no way we can tell if Shepard was adept, engineer, sentinel (dude, super easy, just give him/her the tech armor!), etc. Always looked like a soldier shooting the almighty Avenger, regardless of class.

I guess they think it's just not worth making new animations or whatever they need to make this possible. But if you think about it, this actually would help making each story and playthrough a bit more unique, it will enrich the story making it more realistic.

This should be also a thing with followers, we kind of saw something like this in previous games (the final mission in ME2, Thane vs Khai Leng in ME3), but take it to the next level. Each "shooting" cut scene should feature every member of the team doing whatever the hell they do best: snipers taking out dudes from far away; adepts crushing in the front lines with biotics; sentinels providing support; and so on.

And it makes perfect sense, so it's just a matter of laziness or they thinking that no one would give a damn about it. Attention of detail is not something bad if you ask me.

The obvious solution is to have these things not be cutscenes, but instead gameplay sequences.

This.

Of course, I think there are far too many cutscenes, anyway, the vast majority of which interrupt gameplay and my immersion.

This is a terrible idea that would create a heaping load of complications I'm increasingly convinced are simply above the heads of most players.

Not you again. You said the exact same thing in the last thread about how you were against this because "it wouldn't be fun"

I remember saying this about removing cutscenes in this series and just allowing things to play out in gameplay

While it will never happen, I like this idea.  Using the omega example allow everyone to hack it but engineers hack like beasts and have an easy job.  Heck add the ME1 mini-game back into it for this sequence, not opening every crate but for time sensitive situations like this.  Maybe everyone can pull it off the super win if they are good enough, maybe others just have to suck it up and get a less awesome win.

Cutscenes are useful when you want to show something that ordinary gameplay can't.

They should not be an end in themselves.

More reactivity to player class is welcome.

They already do it in cutscenes in Dragon Age, so calling it some kind of terrible idea that only seems good in theory but would actually be unworkable is kind of funny.

I think the more of this kind of stuff you have, the more replayability you have.

The experience of playing a Fallout game with super low intelligence springs to mind.

Only if my teammates complain whenever I (un)successfully use biotic charge for all my class interrupts.

Yeah, it feels dumb sometimes. I primarily play as a vanguard, and in LotSB, Liara and Vasir use their Biotics to float to the ground and I have to take the stairs. Or at the end of the Grisson Academy mission, when Cerberus is shooting a student and I'm punching the glass while Jack destroys it with her powers. I'm a biotic too, why would I punch a glass when I can use shockwave or whatever to break it.

So yeah, extra details like the one in Omega would be cool.

While I can certainly see some difficulties in implementing this to it's fullest potential (hell, the number of times bits of the story would've gone wrong had my Shep just blown off someone's head with her Widow from half a mile away instead of running around like an idiot wildly firing her non-existant pistol....), to implement it to some extent would be very welcome. The Engineer bit in Omega the OP highlighted was perfect.

Just for clarification on my point of view.

I think it'll be too developer time and ressource consuming to make eg. X number of class specific renegade or paragon interrupts for every single renegade or paragon interrupt (or equivalent). Eg. throwing the merc out the window in me2, where the soldier eg. concussive shots him out, the biotics lift him out, the enginer shocks him out and so forth... OR eg. something akin to the omega engineer interrupt different ways of solving a problem.

But it would be nice to acknowledge the classes, juuuuust once in a while... for eyecandy, badassery goodness...

I'd really love to see that once or twice in the game, but beyond that, I'd prefer developer ressources elsewhere.

Once or twice strategically, yes, but all the time would be a waste of resources.

I agree with wanting using the classes in the story more.

It doesn't have be all the time, but a few instances. I definitely want more conversations that reflect my chosen class, it's one of the few things Inquisition did well. Instead of the renegade or paragon persuasion option, some people can be persuaded by a certain class. Little things like that are why I replay these types of games.

Yes, you don't need to end the mission differently, it is mere immersion changing.

For example,

You have beaten the big bad, he is standing before you being arrogant.

Sentinel, or soldier Shepard punch him in the face.

Vanguard, or adept Shepard blast him back on a wave of biotics.

Engineer, or infiltrator Shepard taze the fool.

They all get the same result, the ad guy is knocked out, but they fit the character.

I wouldn't mind something like this, sort of like the Citadel DLC, where Shepard will kill the CAT6 merc in the sushi restaurant with either an omni-blade or with a biotic punch.

This, its doesnt have to be anything major, just simple changes maybe along with dialogue too. More character immersion isnt a bad thing.

And the Shepard stand off depends on class too. Infiltrators will attack each other from cloak, biotics try to push one another, soldiers cross omniblades.

Couldn't agree more. Citadel gave us a couple of good biotic moves and that was appreciated. I'm sure it wouldn't be easy to even it all out so no one has to feel left out, but hopefully it can be done.

Other companions have used their abilities in cutscenes.  I don't mind having the PC using them or not using them.
