So I joined this game with just one other player.   He would run around and killed everything but at the end just stand there completely still.   So I went around and broke all the pots and opened the door I could and collected the chests.  As soon as I open the door to the next zone, he goes into action again.   Stop at the end completely and wait for me to open the door again.   At the escort zone, he did the same thing except he was not protecting the person at all.   At zone 5, he wouldn't come to the circle, so I thought he must be a bot.  Just as I was about to quit the game, he came to the circle.  We did finish the zone, but it was really really strange.

I guess it is normal at higher difficulty?   I play on Routine since I just started.   I have only seen it once I guess it was just one of the bored elite guy decided to play Routine for laughs?

Lol.  It could be straight up reading the forums, watching silly youtube or facebook videos and posts.  This tends to happen in the middle of nightmare runs too.  hahahaha.

Well if this player is like me and doesn't have his 250 routine waves complete he might have just been finishing off a level 19 that fell just short of level 20. I do the same thing just in a private lobby so I don't have to wait for beginners to round up their gold and annoy me with down dpad spam.

This is not only the polite thing for him/her to have done, he sped up the run, so it's better gold/exp hour for you also.

It less mysterious than you think.

 

He just waited for you to do the errants, since you get automatically teleported to the next zone as soon as one player opens the second door in any transit area.

 

You're actually lucky he wasn't a speedrunner, who generally forbid a group to ruin their schedule by doing the same before the other players can open a door. Or the opposite end - those who are way in over their heads already, and open treasure room doors mid-combat in order to have a more exciting battle to watch from the Fade.
