OK, I'm at the desert and I lured the High Dragon. He's supposed be vulnerable to ice. I got two mages with ice magic and sometimes he gets the 'insensitive' mark from my attacks. I'm able to take down his health up to 50% having team on 12-13 level. The rest is impossible, with Iron Bull and Kassandra present with nice weapons.

What do I do wrong, how to beat this thing? The yellow dragon is even a bigger nightmare, I'm having problems getting his health down more than 1/100 of his health bar.

The cheesiest way is to use fully powered (three focus bars) Thousand Cuts (Tempest focus ability, Sera has it). It should take 50%-80% off its health. On lower difficulties it may even kill it.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. If you or someone else thinks of any other way, please post ;)

If its in the hinterlands. Make sure everyone stays within close range so that they're inside the sucking effect it does every now and again. When it goes off to summon minions. Hide underneath it so it cant spit fire at you and then kill the minions

It is the Abyssal High Dragon in Western approach. It is the only one you have to lure.

Ah. Well for that one just stay in close so it can't drag you in and hurt you.

What is the composition of your entire party? Do you have an Archer? A Mage? What skills do all characters have (post builds)?

One tip is to avoid using any skills or gear on Iron Bull that reduce health. If you can't do that, limit his usage of health potions (reserve 8) and just let him die and don't revive him.

Do you have Bee Grenades? The more you upgrade Bee Grenades, the faster you kill dragons with them. Equip them on whatever character has the highest Crit Chance and the bees will crit (as of Patch 9).

Position everyone except Cass (acting as Tank) to the sides of the dragon. Stay away from the front, where the bite and fire attacks are high damage, and the tail for the tail attack, unless you have evasion skills and can use them (don't run out of stamina). The tail attack has a big wind-up animation and you can anticipate it and use an evasion skill to avoid damage. Plus, attacking from Flank gives you extra damage.

As soon as a dragon's hurricane wing attack starts, go into Tactical mode and move all characters inside the circle, preferrably to the sides of the dragon.

Good luck!

my party was lvl 15 with dorian, blackwall, sera(bow) and me as dual wield rogue.

tactics screen used all the time.

dorians primary task, keep barrier up on the 2 melee's(i take a lot of control in tactics mode, skill is disabled in dorians tactics)

.

blackwalls primary task is take agro and tank it, he is mostly on autopilot, and does it pretty well.

sera doesnt use 1000 cuts, just normal skills, and is mostly on auto pilot

dual wield rogue, go in do damage and get out.(i take control in tactis mode)

it takes a while to get the dragon down, but the party got the job done without any deaths.

make sure your ranged isnt to far away so when the dragon starts flapping its wings you can run in fast to avoid the damage.

i play on hard mode.

Thanks, that is really helpfull, I'll try it later.  For dragons I use Iron Bull, Cassandra and Blackwall, I play as ice mage at this point. I figure it's best to approach them in close, so my party is mostly close range chars. Varric, as posted below, could prove useful at some point, Sera too. Will see :)

I saw a good video of taking down dragons in less than 10 sec (gametime, not actual time) by adding Hidden Blades masterwork bonuses to all weapons and blitzing with a combination of Solas' Firestorm focus ability with the primary focus ability, DW rogue Spinning Blades, and Mark of Death plus Thousand Cuts, not to mention Potions of Offense and a warrior's Horn of Valor. I don't do all that myself though, so dragons have taken me more like 5-10 min by just relying heavily on a SnS tank that can survive while keeping its attention while everyone else does their thing...
