The one group that uses this is ALL leaderboard players.... how about that?

The other circumstance I assume people used it in the past was to reset a wave when a wipe was imminent. Host leaves, get to start over. That's cheezy IMO. But, with all the disconnects in the past go right on ahead if you so please.

That would NOT work! Host migration fails 99.9999999999999999999999999% of the time!

Hah, have to disagree with you. Pretty sure that's a relatively popular tactic...especially when dragon farming was the thing to do.

This whole thing just goes back to other players being salty that some players are getting points faster than them.

I mean let's call it for what it is

Whaaaaaa! Whaaaaaaa! Whaaaaaa!  its not fair!!!!! Whaaaaaaa!

It's a game guys for real

I do not think it was intended by Bioware to rejoin with 3 lives and fresh potions.

No, maybe not.

But if they wanted to prohibit it like they did the XP exploit, then why haven't they changed it?

And there are penalties built in. Greening out makes the enemy stronger. And leaving and rejoining takes time, time in which your team could be killed.

Using an intended game mechanic in an unintended way is not the same as using an unintended game mechanic to trick the game.

Funny how that's not the point at all. This should not be an accepted way to play.

Pretty similar to XP issue probably. Not a big enough issue, works in the players favor. Low on the priority list, where it should be.

Doesn't take away from the fact that it is clearly a clever use of game mechanics...you're allotted 3 lives and 2 of each potion for a reason. You're intended to only have that amount for the duration of the match.

Should devs take resources away from other areas to get rid of it? Heck no.

Well back to the point if being invited back is being abused how can this be fixed and then what would happen when you get dashed?

Are you seriously calling for a fix?

My point there was so many are calling it a cheat with no opinion on how to solve the problem.

One of the mysteries of life.

It should have been 250, would have encouraged more people to play it.

Well yeah the rest were all 250 but they give 10 pts for 1?

How did they not see this would happen?

It was originally meant to be 1 credit for completing a particular faction.

The Dev already posted it was just for a bit of fun. Not a grind. His words. Cannot recall if it was Luke......probably. but I read the post.

Current challenge was a fix for the one that didn't work.

So many edits. ....bloody mobile phones...

There's a couple different things being discussed in this thread.

1. Should the community ostracize players for leaving and rejoining as it's not "sporting?"

Sure, whatever. Communities always have different standards than the developers and social pressure can be a powerful thing.

I've never done it, and probably never will, because I just don't care enough.

2. What type of cheese is it?

In my mind, there is a clear demarcation between:
A) using intended game mechanics in unintended ways; and
B) doing something that game is actively stopping you from doing.

In the first case, it's the developers bad. They created the game mechanics, and creative uses of those mechanics isn't cheating. It's using your tools in a more efficient way than intended.

A good example of this was the counter strike/walking fortress use against bolters. Using game mechanics in a creative way.

In the second case, it's the players bad. Your doing sonething that game is not intending in any fashion. There is no mechanic intended to allow you to increase your exp gain per enemy.

But I agree with you, even if they wanted to change it, I hope this is very low in their priority list.

You should get 10 prestige points just for getting the word Demarcation into a post....

To me this is the same as any other form of cheating on damp. But it seems to be publicly accepted. Just wanted some other opinions on this.

it's a moral issue, but i draw a line somewhere ... 2x is cheating for me not this.

My argument is:

you use everything to win a tough fight, so little below the belt sometime acceptable.

is it cheating if someone uses the mechanics of the game to play difficulty above your promotion/gear/skill and how many deaths/rejoins you would consider it's too many for you (for me up to six deaths or one rejoin), or someone runs to the end and open the door cheating the rest of gold pots or chest; even the coding is not perfect, i got ctd often ... is that the developers cheating us? i say no to those ... sometime the mechanics/rules of the game are not perfect.

Imo that cheating. Just stick to the levels of difficult you good at.

How to define "levels of difficult you good at" for everyone? similar to how far below the belt is consider rule violation?

the developer/publisher does not make it clear so you can draw the line yourself, for me adding few more deaths/rejoin to compensate

for imperfection in network condition/ group makeup. Dont tell me you have never rejoined a game after a crash to desktop.

It's working as intended.

As intended by the code written by a dev who didn't intend to write that code.

Either way, working as intended.
