Yes, I wanted to create a thread for those who like the character, appreciate him (as a villain or not), so we can share positive things about him, fanarts, pictures, screenshots, links to fanfictions for example... (please always give a link and/or the author's name when you post something not made by yourself)

Important: I know that other topics have been made in the past, like http://forum.bioware...agon-age/page-1

but this one is different. A lot of people here are tired of always seeing the same debates over and over about Loghain, feeling like they have to defend the character all the time and having to justify all the time why they like him.

This thread is not for debate about the bad things Loghain could have done, so please haters, no debate or insults here. This place is for peaceful and civilized exchanges between people who appreciate Loghain. (even if you dislike what he did you can still like him for his complexity and have fanarts/fanfics to share).

I start with a beautiful artwork by Olga Kolesnikova (IcedWingsArt), young Loghain and Maric in the Stolen Throne:

Okay, I know I'm breaking my promise already, but I just wanted to log into the thread and post something to support you.  Good luck with the thread, I hope people keep it civil and you can enjoy yourself here.

Then saw the nice fanart and have to add, that's pretty good. :D

You're welcome! as I said, civilized people are welcome, as long as they don't bring hot debates and such  :P I hope I won't be the only one in this topic, thanks for the support  there are many nice Loghain fanarts and fanfics around on internet.

Oh, I saw someone on Tumblr with that mod for long hair for Loghain in DA:I, it looks really great!! unfotunately I don't have it on PC so I cannot use mods, but it looks very good.

I'm pretty sure once people are awake and on the boards you will get some company. Phaonica and Persephone are big Loghain fans, and there are a few pretty vocal fans running around out there, though I'm unsure who all is haunting the BSN atm, I have no doubts it won't be long before you have company.

Thanks, I hope so!

I never played "Return to Ostagar", it was a DLC, right? is it available for download on the pSN or PS3? I really wish it is. I've seen the Loghain scenes on youtube but I want to play it myself, too.

I am unsure.  You can go to this link on the DA wiki and read more about the DLC.  Even if it's still available (I think it came free with the Ultimate Edition) you will need an authorization to get it to install and play though--there has been some issue lately with installation.

This page discusses DLC for Origins and includes links at the bottom.  Good luck.  RtO was good the first couple playthroughs but it gradually annoyed me.

I bought the Ultimate edition about 3 years ago for $19.99 for the ps3. It has all dlc including awakening.

I like Loghain. Its too bad he can't be a companion earlier in the game

I checked on internet and now it's more expensive (or I need to import it from the US and it costs me a lot for the shipping)... here in France they sell it around 45 euros, that's a lot x_x, I need to see how much are Awakening and Return to Ostagar separately...

Yes, it's a bit sad to have Loghain in our team only at the very end.

I think Loghain is one of Bioware's most fascinating characters. The fact that people are still vociferously arguing about him six years later is testament to his appeal.

That said, I still feel that he is a character with relatively few redeeming qualities. Rather, I think he is one of those fairly unpleasant people that prove themselves useful in harsh times by their ability to do the things others won't or can't, which is what makes him a perfect foil for Maric. During the rebellion, Loghain is the tactical brains of the outfit, but he lacks Maric's compassion and charisma to inspire others. When the blight arrives, Loghain is still the master tactician, but with without Maric's ability to inspire and unite, Loghain is unable to rally Ferelden, and only ends up diving it further.

He's a villain, but much like Magneto for example, you can understand where he is coming from and even understand how his actions could seem justified and correct from his perspective, which is a quality of the best villains; that from another perspective, you could regard them as heroic.

I have very conflicted feelings about Loghain, I really like him as an interesting personality, and antagonist, but when push comes to shove, I still think he's a bad guy.

He's a controversial yet very complex and interesting character, I think that's what makes him a good antagonist. You can also have such controversial characters on your side in other games, like Vernon Roche in the Witcher, Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones, or Thrawn in Star Wars -who is not on your side but well (I love these characters).

It's good to have an antagonist who makes you "feel" something (even if it's hate, or love, or digust, etc), because antagonists who make you feel absolutly nothing (like Corypheus for me) are not interesting at all.

By the way, nice DA:I Loghain by Audelade:

Victory at Ostagar-https://www.fanficti...tory-at-Ostagar

The Keening Blade-https://www.fanficti...e-Keening-Blade

IMO, every Loghain fan should reach each story at least once, but it will take some time to go through.

As for Loghain, I like to do the Loghain kills Archdemon on all non noble playthroughs(except City Elf of course), but the Loghain cameo in Awakening is memorable enough for me to do that with my Noble playthroughs.

The comment where Loghain talk about Anora having children with the male Cousland-priceless.

I appreciate Loghain sacrificing himself against the archdemon. I also appreciate him giving up Rowan for Celia, since this is what made it possible for Anora to be born. I appreciate his service to Ferelden during the Orlesian occupation. And that's about it.

Personally, I appreciate him as a villain and as a flawed hero.

I appreciate Loghain as an antagonist.  I don't know if I can call him a villain - his actions certainly paint him as one, but even without the books I get glimpses of the man he was before the Blight happened and Rendon Howe got his nasty little hooks into Loghain.

Loghain may not be a particularly nice character, but he is a well-written antagonist, shown to have both redeeming and damning qualities.  While the damning ones help drive the narrative in Origins, the redeeming ones show up if the PC duels him at the Landsmeet and wins.  There, you see his human side, the father, the patriot, the soldier.  I haven't recruited him yet, but I definitely plan to.

Loghain can have very sweet lines about his daughter, his past, when he talks with Dog, things like this. It shows his "human" side, and it's very interesting.

And it's a nice Loghain cameo we have in DA:I if he is the warden :) worth keeping him alive in DA:O.

I would have spared Loghain, were he not standing between me and the Alistair sole ruler ending.

Also, his daughter is terrible at delivering speeches.

OMG that is the worst!!  I just turn down the sound at that moment and read the subtitles.  Steve Valentine's delivery isn't a lot better but at least he doesn't screech it like she does.  I hear it more often than not, I usually leave Anora on the throne except on select wardens.

I can't say that i love Loghain( to this date my favourite are Wynne,Cassandra,Cullen and Solas),however i like his  redemption arch ,plus banter with the Mabari.

My favourite part of DAO was when he said at the end that he was certain that my Warden would have killed him for what he did to him or to Ferelden, well surprise i don't like barbaric death penalty and when i see reedemable quality i always give the chance

I like Loghain. I've only kept him alive in one playthrough, the one where my Cousland marries Anora, but I enjoy coming up with stories of the dynamic with his new "son-in-law".  :P

Browsing sites for fanart, I noticed there is a whoooole lot of Warden/Loghain shipping... gack. I'm not sure if I'm ready for that.

Haha, having Loghain in the family must be something  :P

I like the shipping Loghain/Warden, in fact... because I don't really imagine him with any other character from the game (and I don't usually like fan stuff with official couples like Rowan/Loghain because we already have a book about this (and it's an old crush, characters are not stuck with the same old teenager crush all their lives, that's boring, that's also why I like the fact that we married someone else), what I want in a fanfiction/fanart is something new)

A F!Warden who would spare him and discover that he is in fact more than meet the eye... that's interesting.

If you don't know Ddriana's comics yet, visit her deviantart page, she does many cool little comics about Dragon age/ME and about Loghain too. One of them:

My last sketch of Loghain, Inquisition Grey Warden style, but with long hair (because I'd love to see him in Inquisition with his looong dark hair)

I went from thinking he was a really well written villain to genuinely liking him over the course of my playthrough - I first played as a M!Cousland who married Anora, and I let Alistair kill Loghain, immediately felt like a dirtbag to my future wife and resented giving into Alistair's murder tantrum, so I rebooted, spared Loghain, and haven't looked back since.  He's a fantastic companion whose dialogue really adds several shades of grey to things that you took for granted in the pre-Landsmeet part of the game, and I can't imagine not having him around now.  I definitely have some headcanons where I ship him with an F!Warden, too, mostly because he has such a sexy voice and I love his rugged face :P

I totally agree with you!! Glad to see another person here who appreciate this awesome character :D and if you have fanfics/fanarts to share, don't hesitate!

As you know Loghain is also available as a Legendary character in the Android game "Heroes of Dragon age" I was lucky to get him and he's a total badass and kills all my ennemies, haha :P he has a very nice armor when upgraded. Found the pictures :
