Question for those many of with diversified playthroughs:

I already know that a Qun-loyal Bull will betray you on the final mission, and Charger-loyal Bull will not.

So....

1) What happens to a Qun-loyal bull if you don't bring him on the final mission?

2) What happens to a Qun-loyal and romanced Bull (is that possible?) Bull on the final mission, or if you don't bring him on the final mission.

Thanks for your answers!

If Bull is loyal to the Qun and you don't bring him with you, he shows up to betray you anyway. Can confirm cuz thats how my playthrough went  :D

A Qun-loyal Bull will still betray you even if he was in a romance with you.

You get extra dialogue if he dies and you romanced him, but you quickly get over it and focus on your task. Cole says he felt nothing so Bull was no more even before the DLC.

Yes, a romanced bull will betray you unless there is some other way to prevent this, please tell.

My inky got a over it a little too fast TBH. I would've enjoyed at least a cinematic just before you deliver the final blow. Something to pull at the heartstrings. Maybe have an opportunity to smack him or kick him in the ribs.   :(  :(

The only thing that saved that moment for me was when my Divine Vivtoria said after that moment, she may have to call an exalted march on Par Vollen. I knew I loooooved her!!

What is the special dialogue if you romance him? Does he say anything different as he betrays you?

Ways in which I am a terrible person: this really makes me want to have my future Bull-riding Inquisitor sacrifice the Chargers.

(What can I say, I like angst!)

Woah, that's harsh. No special dialogue from Bull and Cole says he didn't even feel pain? Ouch. The whole relationship was just a temporary thing for him from the get go o.o. I hope saving the chargers means he really does love the inquisitor in the end.

I think Bull was a spy all along. Solas tells you that the Qunari planned this long ago. I think by befriending/romancing him, and saving his men, you changed him and saved him from doing his intended mission. He called the assassin attempt a formality, but I think they were trying to eliminate him in fear he'd reveal what he knew to the Inquisitor.

If you let the Charges die, it breaks him and he probably ended up re-educated and sent back to you to complete his original mission.

Yea I recommend saving the chargers if you want a happy ending. To be fair, Iron Bull was most likely re-educated or something in that vein when he went back to Seheron or wherever keeping him loyal to the Qun. It was never meant to be. I wanted to believe in this Qunari alliance! I wanted to believe in our love!

So even if you have a high approval with Bull, if you don't save the Chargers, he betrays you?

Kinda BS, particularly since you learn that the Vidathari and that sect of Qunari were acting on their own.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me to let the Chargers die if you like Bull anyway. I thought you telling him to put the Qun first when romancing him was weird. I didn't even do it with my 'evil' qunari, since him letting the chargers die would be pretty in character, but because I was romancing him it just didn't make sense to do so. But we clearly see that the 'qunari' alliance is fake so you only gain something if you save the chargers.

No one is acting on their own. They got their orders from the leaders of the Qun. The epilogue slide tells you that the Qunari retreat because a swift victory is no longer possible in the South. The Qunari restart their attacks on Tevinter as Solas predicted. Also the Inquisitor can find an unsent letter trying to deny the plan and that the alliance is still strong in the study of the Qunari stronghold.

If you notice Bull's tarot card after not saving the Chargers you will see that his mindset is in lock step with the Qun and the Qunari.. Also Bull getting close to the Inquisitor and other party members was part of the plan.

Bull was honest. He told the Inquisitor upfront what he was.

No. He got reeducated and brainwashed because the Inquisitor thought it was a good idea to ally with the Qun at the cost of Bull's only decent friends. That doesn't mean he didn't love the Inquisitor at all.

This becomes blatantly obvious if you don't leave him brainwashed.

There's even a codex that explains the horrors of reeducation. It's really quite terrible.

They were discovered. Of course the triumvirate disavowed this operation.

This was all planed, just listen to what she says. She says "Now, Hisrad!" Notice the word, now. This means the betrayal was already planed, all Bull was waiting for was the order. Bull lied to everyone, including the Inquisitor.

The fact that it was also disavowed also means it was sanctioned.

I find it very...odd...that they wait until almost no other option remains to give Bull the signal. I know it is dramatic license and all, but I brought Bull with me the entire DLC, which means he had to kill a *terrible* amount of fellow Qunari to keep his cover when backstabbing me in the first level of the DLC would have potentially prevented their deaths.

That really doesn't make sense from the point of wanting the Inquisitor dead, no need to wait to give the kill order.

Seriously, just imagine their thoughts. "Wait! Hissrad, you are on our side!!!! We outnumber them three to one, why are you helping them???"
