I really wanted to play a character with a missing limb and I didn't think BioWare would actually have the stones to do it but I was thrilled when they did and now everyone wants to immediately undo it ![]()

I can't watch a movie without noticing missing left forearms - just this week, Fury Road and Age of Ultron. Missing forelimbs as a trend might be renewing itself. I'll never forget the chainsaw hand from Army of Darkness. That'd be cool, but since it's a stretch, I'll head-canon that for a s&s. ![]()
On topic, giving people a choice is always a good idea when there is no significant cost involved. That way, people who want an arm or prosthetic can have one, and people who don't like the idea aren't forced to have one.
Either way, I'm getting what I want in my head. My imagination is that good. ![]()

I would be okay with a steampunk-like realistic looking artificial limb, made of precious metals and studded with gems. Or a no-nonsense wooden arm with mechanical joints.
No hooks, and no weapons attached to stumps, please.
Let the disabled Inquisitor have his/her dignity.
Well - first things first:
I don't have that DLC (lucky me I guess - even though the story is GREAT (much better than most of the original game IMHO...though I'd love a different ending (I mean I've not looked to closely at the YT-Vids, but is it possible to tell the Chantry, Orlais and Ferelden to "bugger off" and leave the Inquisition alone? - After all we've just saved their asses AGAIN and quite frankly: I don't want to serve as the general of the army (personal guard my ass, the seekers would have been enough for that -.-) of a religious leader, even if I helped install that leader (Leliana in my case!) in the first place!))
Secondly though: I agree, I wouldn't like a mutilated hero (I wouldn't like myself to have a missing limb after all, so it's only natural and IMHO has nothing to do with discriminating against disabled people (who I do pity...must be hard having a missing limb!)), so a replacement arm (regrown at best, as I don't think artificial limbs channel magic that well (all my Inquisitors are mages...tried the rogue and warrior, but I hate chasing my enemies in close quarters (and I prefer to control my hero instead of a companion during fights) so I let the AI do that...and I don't like bows and arrows all that much (at least not in comparison to magic!) - the option of having an artificial one would be nice though (at least if it really handles like a real arm or better (like some advanced prosthesis seen in science fiction movies) and can still channel magic...unlike say Darth Vaders artificial limbs in Star Wars which can't channel force lightning (which is why Vader never uses it)) would be GREAT ![]()
greetings LAX
ps:
damned BIOWARE, why do you make such a poor game and then make such grand DLC - after I have decided not to reward you for not living up to expectations (so no DLC for me)? -.-

Doesn't the ending epilogue show you on the roof with Sera and you have some device that looks like a mini-crossbow attached to your arm? That would be need. But honestly... I'm the friggin Inquisitor, I'd go for something like Jaimy Lannister... yeah I said it... I want a golden hand.

A golden hand which effectively ends his fighting ability. And crossbow hand would only apply to 1/5 of the character playstyles.

Yeah... Jamie lost is right hand though... you lose your left arm. So that would limit your fighting ability anyway if you are an archer, a two handed warrior, a dw rogue, a sword and shield warrior. So? Golden Hand/arm or not... your fighting days as anything besides a mage are done unless you use a prosthethis... so what does it matter?

I like the fact that the plot had consequences. It made a nice change from the usual power fantasies Bioware writes.

Seeing how well things go overall for the Inquisitor I'm not sure I'd call the whole thing a consequence. Bioware tried to deconstruct the chosen one trope a bit but overall, things do go well for the Inquisitor apart from Solas winning in the end.

That's why I said the loss of a hand was a nice change! Well, maybe not "nice", but you know what I mean.
I think you can also argue the game isn't exactly happy for an Elf Inquisitor (entire culture + religion being a lie), but for everyone else thinks go rather well.

Right, I get your point now. I just think the bar is so low for failure in RPGs that I kind of bristle.
I think it really depends on the elf. I can't play one that actually buy into the Dalish narrative, so for me the elf playthrough was just total vindication. Probably the happiest ending overall - to my smug elf it 1) established that elves are objectively superior beings 2) the Dalish were wrong and he was right and 3) he gets to stop the closest thing his people have to a god.
All in all, a pretty good trade for a left hand (plus he's right handed

I think this will only become an issue if they intend to bring the Inquisitor back next game, in which case it might behoove them to let us customize the Inquisitor's appearance the way we did for Hawke in DAI, only include a few (cosmetic) choices for the limb. Keep the missing arm with the sleeve folded over it? Have a crossbow arm like in that one slide (made by Dagna)? Have a regular mechanical prosthetic limb (made by Bianca)?
Until then, I'm fine having a regular missing limb.

Two words.
INQUISITOR FURIOSA.
That's all.
I would so witness this.
