"In order for my people to be reborn, yours must die."

"If your people must die, I would have them do it in confort."

Thus speaks Solas to a Human Inquisitor with which he is friendly. Never at any point there is any reassurances. He leaves no room for doubt.

He sees no way to restore the elves without destroying for, at the beginning, he did not even see people without magic as people at all. However, should the Veil be brought down, Humanity will perish.

It may be so that future games will offer a third path but, for now, this is what we have open before us.

If the Veil continues, humans will continue to rule Thedas. Naturally, this means the opression of elves.

However, without the Veil, elves would be all that they once were and they would rule Thedas, causing the extinction of humankind.

It is possible some humans may survive altough this is doubtful. Remember that, per lore, the Crossroads is intrinsically hostile to anyone who is not an elf. Even if a few survive, they would be opressed.

So, on which side do you stand?

Would you like a future elven PC to help Solas fulfill his plans? Or a human PC who puts an end to the Dread Wolf once and for all?

I believe that Solas' plans will be fulfilled regardless of what we do.Perhaps the feels and the surrounding circumstances will be different but his plan will actually happen. Perhaps Solas or someone from Tevinter will have come up with a method that softens the blow and allows for better assimilation.

Why? Simple. Sandal's prophecies and predictions were never wrong. He predicted that all will return to the way it once was. He predicted that when he rises, everyone will see.

I'd like the option to choose and not be locked on a set path, but then that would lead to two completely different versions of Thedas. Unless Bioware come up with something like his plan "somewhat succeeding" if you support him or "mostly failing" if you oppose him, so something happens that allows for a coherent setting going forward.

Thus spoke Solas to a Dalish Elf Inquisitor who was his friend.  So even modern Elves are not considered his people.

It is not a Elves vs humans thing, it is a Ancient Elves vs EVERYONE thing.

He actually says the same exact thing to an elven inquisitor. "His people" are not the elves as we know them but the ancient elves (whatever and wherever they are). It seems like he is counting essentially everyone of all races as "your people" when he says that and your people are going to die if his plans work out.

Eh Solas is gonna kill modern day elves too which is why even elves siding with him is dumb. He considered them all tranquil too until the quizzy started to change his mind.

It would be quite ironic if it will be the Dalish of all people that won't align themselves with Fen'harel and will be helping the (mostly Tevinter) Protagonists in DA4

Fen'Harel atleast seems open  change. Otherwise, I can see the elves he recruits to be cannon fodder and there are probably alot of Ancient Elves still alive/ sleeping.

We actually see elvhen tombs in the deep road section of Trespasser

I must admit I was not aware he used the same wording to an elven Inquisitor. I had assumed he said "our people" and "humans will die".

With that being said, it is still modern elves who are joining him. In the coming conflict, they will be his forces. And they will do it because they believe it will bring about a new elven world to replace the current human one.

Solas's plan is too vague for me, so I can't really decide, even though I want the modern elves to be elevated from their current circumstances.

And also because they're dumb and don't realize they'll die too when the veil comes crashing down. They'll die slower but they'll still die. Because like humans their bodies aren't equipped to handle that.

I don't think we can force Solas to do anything by force. Elven Gods or whatever are beyond normal magic as we know ...  even with the Fade separate ...

I don't know how I feel about this. I'm always pro elf in every fantasy game possible. Always loved elves in DA and think it's bs how they are treated so cruelly and utterly oppressed. But wiping out every race and probably modern day elves, to bring back old elves who evidently couldn't manage themselves and screwed themselves up anyway? Oh I dont know.
One of my inquis's is a Solas-mancer and still loves him. I wonder if he'd kill her still if it came down to that.

They might. The Crossroads felt like coming home for Briala.

It's possible bringing down the Veil would mutate the modern elves into something resembling the ancient ones.

If I'm a human and it's really an "us or them" scenario with no way out, then of course I'd choose "us".

If I'm an elf, it's basically the present-day elves die so that those of ancient times can re-ascend. I'd have my doubts about that even if I don't care about humans at all. On the other hand, I understand how you can want a specific kind of future even if you're never going to be part of it. So it could go either way should I play an elf and she was presented with a choice to support one or the other side.

Sounds fine be me humans are arrogant fools anyway. Time for them to be slaves and see how nice that was. Also Solas said modern day elves are like that because they lacked the connection to the Fade when restored they will return as they were. So it is indeed Elves vs Humans. Notice how in the ends elves left the humans institutions and Inquisition. Fen'Harel seems to unite elves under his banner.

It isn't about "us" and "them". Solas plans to enter the Fade and destroy the Veil in a plan that he thinks will kill everyone, humans and elves alike, along with dwarves, qunari, and most of the animal population of Thedas. So it isn't so much a case of "Humans vs. Elves" as much as "Solas vs. Everyone Else". My only question is who Solas thinks will benefit from his plan. The elves won't, at least not the Dalish and city elves alive today. They can't endure exposure to raw magic any more than humans or qunari. Dwarves might survive, but Cory's ability to rip mountains apart and send them 100 feet into the air, that isn't a safe assumption to make.

From the sound of it the world is basically damaged by the existence of the Veil. Personally I would love to find out how common demonic possession was back before Solas created it. It's possible all the current problem with mages and demons comes from the enforced barrier between the worlds. If the Veil actually was/is a bad thing I can see the reason for trying to undo it even if it will cause a lot of damage. Even Solas admit that destroying the Veil is not a good plan, just a needed one.

Still Solas plans has a habbit of not working out so well so I'm still having some doubts about what he planned to do with the Evanuris once they were free.

Didn't the ancient elves keep slaves as well? Anyway, if the plan goes like I think it would, there would be no slaves anyhow, only bodies.

The next PC will probably either find some way to depower him or use unconventional methods such as dropping a mountain on him.

Right now, Solas needed to appear invincible to set up a challenge for the next game. There, his power to turn people into stone with a blink will probably be conveniently gone.

Oh they'll be exceptions without a doubt. But no that veil crashing down is going to kill hordes elves are more hardy to the fade han the rest of the races not immune and then the demon storm afterwards will kill hordes more and elf blood won't save them from that.
