I haven't bought the game yet because I've bought games assuming my laptop meets the system requirements (and it didn't).  So I checked to see if I meet the system requirements and apparently my video card falls short.  My video card and the screen below is what I see.  I realize my video card isn't listed under the compatible cards, but it meets all of the minimum requirements.  Is the only solution for me to buy one of the listed video cards or is there any other option?  Thanks for the help.

Video Card

Minimum: 256 MB DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (NVIDIA GeForce 7/8/9/100/200 series / ATI RADEON X1950, HD 2000/3000/4000/5000 series)

You Have: Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family

Laptops with nothing other than onboard video chips, most especially the atrociously awful Intel crap, have no video upgrade path. You have to get an entirely new machine.

Even though the card passes all the minimum requirements? I had this same problem with Assassin's Creed-- I installed it and the game would freeze after the initial cutscene and found out it was the video card.

The minimum requirements specifically name ATI and nVIDIA, and nothing from Intel:

                    ME2

PC MINIMUM System Requirements
OS = Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
Processor = 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
Memory = 1 GB RAM for Windows XP / 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7
Hard Drive = 15 GB
DVD ROM = 1x Speed
Sound Card = DirectX 9.0c compatible
Direct X = DirectX 9.0c August 2008 (included)
Input = Keyboard / Mouse
Video Card = 256 MB (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). Supported Chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater; ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9200, and 9300; ATI Radeon HD 2400, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, and HD4350 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required. Intel and S3 video cards are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.

That Intel video chipset is unacceptable for gaming. It has no dedicated video RAM, it shares system RAM.

Yeah Gorath, makes sense. Would I be able to buy one of the supported chipsets and replace the video card (forgive me if it's an obvious question, just making sure)? I probably wouldn't anyway, just for a game, but, if not, would I really have to buy an entirely new machine?

Its impossible to upgrade a laptops video chipsets. (Almost impossible and incredibly expensive)

I figured... Sigh, oh well. It's not worth it just for a game-- thanks for the help.
