"I hate the grey wardens because they went to ridiculous lengths to save the world, and almost destroyed it in the process"

But I'm Solas, the guy who went to ridiculous lengths to restore my race to former glory, and almost destroyed the world in the process.

I thought he'd be more sympathetic to the Wardens at Adamant considering how similar they are.

Or is it a pettier reason, like he doesn't like winged helms or some such thing. Maybe Solas hates griffons.

Someone explain it to me, I'm lost.

Yup, I'd be willing to bet the Enuvaris are in fact the old gods.

Solas sees only ancient elves as people and not people as people (Archdemons = Old Gods = Old Gods = Worth saving and possibly connected to his people). We are tranquil to him because we are not immortal and don't have real magic. You can befriend him and prove him wrong of course, but his pride keeps him from doing anything but telling you he treasures the day you prove him wrong again regarding his decision.

Personally? I think he's in denial about it all and his world destruction is a ruse. His main goal I think is to tear down the Veil and kill the ones who killed Mythal. Consequences of it will be the world's end he thinks, but Sandal predicts he will succeed and that can't mean the end of DA, so something isn't quite clicking into place.

The archdemons, or old gods, or great dragons, have something to do with the elven Creators. They might be the Creators themselves or the vessel of Creators. And it was said that the dragon's blood holds the world somewhere. Solas cares about his people, and "their world". He could not simply kill the old gods.

Aren't the grey warden supposed to be the Old Gods's ennemies ?

Even if they are darkspawned old gods...

Edit : Forget about it, Appolexander answered himself differently.

Solas loves Griffons and hates the Grey Wardens for making them extinct!

More seriously, he probably had a hand at putting the Old Gods below ground to protect them, and dislikes them being killed when they aren't hurting anyone.

It's connected to the Old Gods.

Doesn't he say that he locked them up in the Fade? The Old Gods are under the earth ... I think the act of trying to kill them (Old Gods) was what Enuvaris were trying to do and they killed Mythal cause she would have stopped them? So the blight may be an Enuvaris curse?

There does seem to be SOME connection between the Old Gods and the elven gods, but it could simply be that they were distinct but co-existing pantheons.

The answer could simply be this: the Old Gods were part of the ancient world that Solas wishes to bring back. Seeing them destroyed removes a little piece of that ancient world.

Makes you wonder how a conversation between Solas and the Hero of Ferelden would go.

I think based on what we know at this point, it seems pretty likely that the Tevinter old gods/Archdemons are connected to the Enuvaris.  So if Solas "has plans" for them that don't allow releasing them to run amok again, I agree it seems odd he should oppose the Grey Wardens.  But ever since DAO, I've always wondered a bit about what really happens with the Ultimate Sacrifice.  The codex says they know it works, because the Wardens can sense the Archdemon through the taint as well as the soul of the Warden, and that they can sense neither after the killing blow.  But what if the Ultimate Sacrifice actually removes the Taint from the Archdemon's soul?  The question still remains as to what happens to it, but it's possible that by "purifying" it they are somehow making it more problematic for Solas, if that is indeed the case.

Supposedly when a Warden's soul and an Archdemon's OG soul collide they both get destroyed, killing them both.

Probably because he wouldn't mind the Blight killing human society and then he'll show up to change the world in his image.

I kinda think he might partly have caused the Blight by influencing the Tevinter Magisters in their dream to go to the Golden City. It might explain how he knows so much about Corypheus.

He's probably so angry because of how much they remind him of himself. Familiarity breeds contempt I'm told.

Killing the Old Gods is killing something ancient. Plus, it will unleash all the darkspawn on the world in a very chaotic fashion, thus bringing pain and misery.

Just like Solas doesn't want the Qunari to conquer Thedas, he doesn't want the darkspawn to run rampant, either. He wants Thedas to be fat, lazy, blissful and totally ignorant before he kills everyone... as that is supposedly more merciful or something... anyway, he comes from a different world/time and sees this world/time as a nightmare/monstrosity or something and wishes to bring the world into its proper way of being from his PoV.
