Humanoid insects, especially spiders like.
Let's face it: bugs are one of the most widespread life forms (multicellular, at least). They are biological machines with high efficiency, and very little flaws (first cause of death is other insects...)... but, they never developed a proper respiratory system. If spiders developed lungs, it's believable they would be the apex predators on this planet.
Let's suppose on a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy, the dominant specie developed from a race of giant spiders instead of apes, and we could have a believable race to confront with humans: they could be different from us, but kindred in spirit, with opportune differences ofc. They would be carnivorous for instance, and maybe they would have antennas, composite eyes, or produce silk. They could have hardened carapaces instead of skin, or their babies could come from eggs and forced to metamorphosis to reach adulthood and so on.
EDIT: possible look:

Snip
Give me aliens whose appearance are wildly divergent from the humanoid form, who are vastly different from human. I want to see these aliens be ALIEN.
<<<<<<<<<<()>>>>>>>>>>
I look at it this way:
An intelligent species must eventually develop manipulative digits (ie: finger like) for tool making and a bipedal structure is probably nature's optimal design. Bipedal creatures can interact with one another more easily than, say, a hive mind intelligence (thinking of the arachnids).
So, when designing aliens, space faring or otherwise, I believe the above should be taken into account... which means aliens must be a variation of the bipedal design. Here, is where Bio Mtl artists hit the nail on the head ( except the Elcor and Hanar) with their designs... though Quarians with only three digits in their hands are "awkward"... for tool making purposes... Think how you can build tools with only three digits... high tech ones especially, that require delicate manipulation.
Personally, I hope Bio Mtl can come up with suitable looking aliens that humans can easily interact.... but not too extreme.

Second reminds me of a four armed Salarian. I do not like it.
Third reminds me of some sorta Asari-Turian from Star Wars. ISame with that other head tentacle one.
Fourth reminds me of Javik. Throw it out the airlock (even though I like it. :U ).
-----------
I think my favorite one is Tharius, followed by the first one. Cat-fish man is pretty cool too.

Why would an insect species need to be humanoid though? Wouldn't a form similar to the Rachni be far more practical to a spider or ant based alien? Just look at our own ants here on Earth; they comprise up to 25% of the terrestrial land-based biomass and are naturally found on every continent on the planet (save Antarctica), and they do all of that without being humanoid.
I am all for seeing more inscetiod aliens personally. Being a biped is great for humanity on Earth, but why does everyone assume that it is some golden standard for the rest of the universe?
Also, in regards to that artwork you linked: no thank you. It's way too human and way too 'sexy' for my tastes; why does an arachnid based species need breasts again? I would much rather encounter aliens that are distinctly alien from us, not being based (both appearance-wise and culturally) on what we humans find pleasing.

While I've the utmost respect for someone able to draw, for artists of brushes and colors, sadly I'm not one of them. The first image I've found able to convey what I was only imagining was that one (again, all credit to the artist). I would be ecstatic to have one (or more) Rachni NPC in ME:A. Someone to have a meaningful relationship and conversations to. After 3 episodes, I think they have earned the right to have a meaningful impact on your story, at a personal level (especially if you saved them both times).
But stories like ME:A are made to reach a vast number of people (as vast as possible, to be precise): could everyone relate with an alien life form with Rachni' shape? No, because we're biped and arachnophobia affects 5% of the our entire population (more o less, plus general dislike towards skittering multi limbed life forms). Realistically speaking, could ever a Rachni be a possible and believable LI, for a story like ME? No ( Krogans have more possibilities. Hell, Elcors have more possibilities).
But could a hybrid form of Rachni and Human be a possible LI? Well, imo, the answer is yes: for at least 2 reasons.
It appeals a wider percentage of the players' base and it's easier to realize and animate with the technology Bioware has at the moment: more limbs are harder to program, especially for NPC you see often.
I'm not proposing humanoid insects because I think they are believable as life forms (should real aliens ever contact us, I would bet on bear-sized cockroaches as general shape and I would be f***ing happy for that), but because I believe they are acceptable, relatable, realistically achievable, easier to put into practice and more likable in a story like ME:A. Should a bug species ever appear in ME:A, I would prefer Bioware going all the way with them, not just putting them on the side line because the majority of the player base is comfortable with that.
Last but not least, why should a humanoid specie of bugs have need of breasts in a sci-fi story like ME?
1) Because the LI need something to tease while making love with them
2) They're not breasts. They are empty portion of their carapaces, used to protect their spawns while they develop from larvae to pupas.
3) Because a Rachni sized lover is too big for you...
Jesting aside, the definition of "pleasing" is too wide to be restricted in a single sentence: what is beauty for a little minority, is uncanny valley for others. Again, bug can be beautiful, but this acknowledgement is not easy to achieve for everyone. So, in the end, would I like a race of bugs with a meaningful impact on the ME:A story and plentiful of screen time? Yes. Do I think it is achievable? No.
Do I think humanoid bugs have more hopes to be realized? Yes. So, I proposed humanoid bugs.

I would like to see the Rachni in a bigger role as well, though I am in the camp of wanting interesting squad mates that bring new lore insights to the table and help expand the setting rather than a new (potential) LI for the PC. I would like to see more ME 2 Legion companions than another Liara or Thane. Not to say that those characters had no depth, but I prefer companions or prominent NPCs to be more about lore exposition and seeing aliens as 'alien' than sexy humans with rubber bits on their forehead.
It is true that the non-humanoid species would require more animation and programing, but how many rigs, and animation files does BioWare, and the rest of the EA family have on record for bipeds? Do developers really need to reinvent the wheel with human(oid) animations for every new game? Are the walking animations for the humans in Battlefield, or Dragon Age really all that different from the humans in Mass Effect? This is not a slight against you, just one of my gripes when it comes to excuses for non-humnoid aliens getting the boot all the time.
