I really disliked how the choice to ally with the Qunari was meaningless in the main game. No one talked about how you saved Denerim from being destroyed or the Venatori spies inside the Inquisition. I was thinking to change my decision in the keep.So has anyone played Trespasser where Iron Bull remained loyal to the Qun? If so...thoughts?
When the Trepasser DLC was annouced, I really hoped that Bull was going to betray me, so when he did I was not surprised. It was quickly, impersonal and cold, it made the treason awesome! And it really hurt because I liked Bull, now I will not change the decision on the Keep.

It kind of sucks that Tal-Vashock and non-Qunai mercenaries get more hatred because Hissrad betrays you.

I was afraid that he might do something. I kept hoping that all the Qunari we saw were part of some renegade group and that Bull would help me stop them. When he came with his battle axe and I had to fight him, I was sad. The ending epilogue for him was also sad.
Even though the the qunari alliance might have its benefits, I dont know if I want to save it in my future playthoughs. I want bull to be this cheerful guy who comes to his friends aid.

To be honest it was about as obvious as daylight in a church. He doesn't have a scene before the missions if the chargers are dead, as the only companion. Even without the thematic give away, that woulda done it on its own.

Do you remember the feeling of sadness when he betrayed you? How many times have you felt it in a videogame?
Bull as the betrayer is a memorable character, if you felt nothing about the betrayal it would be meaningless and forgettable, but since you felt it, you should keep it as a reminder. It will be better in the long run.

Qun!Iron Bull is indeed a remarkable character study, the angst and the feels and the trying to figure out just how he must have processed everything, especially if he was romancing the Inquisitor or Dorian when he betrayed them...jesus.
However, Iron Bull as Tal-Vashoth, in my opinion, is a bloody amazing character too. His loyalty and his awesomeness is something that also makes him memorable for me, the perfect example of fighting against all odds to find happiness, and achieving it.
Experiencing the betrayal and thinking about the depth of his character is incredible, but my heart cannot take anything except the sweet companion that is TalVashoth Iron Bull. ![]()

Yup, I saw it coming from the the main game, though. I mean, the dude's a spy...a likeable spy, but still a spy. That's the reason I didn't want to recruit him in the first place. The thing is, my first/only play through I wanted to get everyone, so I played my quiz as someone who'd do anything that might be remotely beneficial to the cause, including forming an alliance with the Qunari.
I thought it was interesting how anticlimactic killing him was, though, didn't think it was possible for my Inquisitor to care even less than I did.

They might be. You can find a note in the study in the Darvaraad where Josephine writes to the Triumvirate to find out WTH is going on, and they write back saying they still value the alliance. The notes described as being crumpled up, presumably by the Viddathala. Since she was also doing stuff she wasn't supposed to (like giving her saarebases lyrium, making that one giant crazy saarebas probably with red lyrium) odds are good that she was acting without sanction. Which makes Bull listening to her more annoying.

Qun!Bull just makes me sad. Also it makes me wish my Warden could've saved Sten
He was going native too with cookies and training kittens and respecting mages but all that's probably gone now. *cries forever*

The Qunari are quite ungrateful, Hawke helps the Arishok, he invades Kirkwall, Salit saves Tallis, she tries to kill him, Bull saves Gatt, he sends assassins after Bull if he leaves, Bull betrays the Inquisitor, and they claim to be descendants of Dragons? Pretty sure that even beasts show more gratitude.
Nah I was trying to free that damn dragon and it attacked me when no one in my party had laid a hand on it. Dragons are ungrateful bastards too.

She was kicking some Qunari arses and she crushes other two without attacking the party once she is free, not bad coming from a reptile.Nah I was trying to free that damn dragon and it attacked me when no one in my party had laid a hand on it. Dragons are ungrateful bastards too.

True but that's once she's freed. I was trying to free that ungrateful thing and she attacked me to the extent that it was easier just to kill her.
Shouldn't have messed with hail of arrows leaping shot spam you stupid dragon.

My point was that she is an animal fighting little cow men attacking her, while the Qunari are sapient beings and you can save them from more hopeless situations and still they betray.

On my first play through of Trespasser, The Iron Bull did not betray me. I was kinda surprised tbh

Surely he was Tal Vashoth by then, if he remains on the Qun, even if romanced, he betrays you.

True.
But yeah my first pt Bull didn't betray me either but he was fully Tal and that's my favorite Bull so yay for me.
Qun!Bull while interesting to observe is a no for friendship or romance. The Qun kind of puts a damper on those things XD

I knew it was a no-brainer that Bull would betray you if you sacrificed the Chargers. What did surprise and worry me at the end is the fact that the Qunari still maintain the alliance with the Inquisiton/Divine Victoria and demand their help with fighting Tevinter. And the fact that Bull's betrayal leads to Tal-Vashoth and Vashoth are now treated even worse in Thedas. ![]()
