I'm rather torn about it myself. On the one hand (pun intended), it helped define the character but by the end, I feel the character had moved past the mark being the sole reason why the Inquisitor was awesome. As Cassandra said when the Inquisitor was named, "it is more than the mark on your hand". I miss the powers and the character but like the previous games, Bioware wants a new protagonist for each Dragon Age installment and this accomplishes that.
Maybe during the time between DA3 and 4, the Inquisitor will get a powerful new hand (crossbow was nice but I'd like a magical one since I'm a mage). Maybe the hand morphs back as a result of Solas's actions to become ghostly like the fade. There are possibilities!
