If anybody can make a prosthetic, it's Dagna.
Daaamn riiiight.
Or Bianca. I mean, Varric practically says between the lines that SHE made the crossbow.

Pff, after the way she bowed up at me when she was the one who put Varric's life at risk by helping Coryupheus I wouldn't let her any closer to me than I could fry her with a lightning bolt.
Should've used a Gildarts gif instead. Shanks is lame.

its besides the point though no matter what "choices" you make the only outcome is hack off your hand where is the "choice" in that ?
It annoys the crap out of me that Bioware devs always talk about choices and player agency only for them to make content that takes what scraps of agency they give you and render them mute and meaningless.
Its a pity you can't get refunds on DLC because I'd refund the crap out of mine as its made completing my other Inquisitors pointless, I doubt any Bioware dev will read this as they like to spend all their time hanging out with their "Yes your awesomesauce Bioware" fanclubs on Reddit and Twitter but from now on any Bioware product in the Dragon Age Franchise is at best a 50% off purchase for me

You have plenty of choices, just because you can't choose to die a pointless death (that would make any future role for the quizy impossible to do) is silly.

Honestly I think it's super awesome. It didn't take anything away from my character and I would be dying to see my Inquisitor acquire an awesome mechanical arm/crossbow. It could only get better.

Damn, that's a nasty truth. Look out. She might send assassins now.

I'm really sorry, my friend. *Hug* You know that I'm sad about this "cut-hand", too. A LOT!
But to be honest .... In the situation with Solas and ... I think it was a great scene, I's really a fitting end.
If they just would give a "last" possibility to customize our character, the lost arm. NOT to be like it was before: The Inquisitor should stay ... somehow handicaped (I really can't belife that I write this .... ) .... But I would love to have a possibility to customize a bit the appearance of MY character, after this "accident".
.

Some of us prefer to keep our organic limbs, unless there is no other choice but to die, thank you.

Which was the case here. You either remove your hand or the mark kills you.
I can understand that people are unhappy about that choice being made for them, but then shouldn't they be annoyed that they couldn't kill their Inqusitor, rather than being annoyed about them losing their arm?
This is why I'm sad about the neccessity, but approve of the deed.
I would rather Inky keep her hand, but... The choice that involved keeping the hand involved her death.
We're told throughout the main game : only way to remove the mark is on the Inquisitor's death, it's permanent. No-one ever mentioned removing the area it's attached to, until Solas came up with that plan (losing half the arm, from elbow). So the only way he/she survives, and it's Solas not giving us a choice in that matter, Inquisitor must survive for the peace to continue apparently.

I don't get you at all. That's such a disservice to the whole point of the story. The Inquisitor loosing a limb does not make him/her less of a person or less important to the story. I don't understand what so threatening about it that you'd feel so hostile.
Also it adds even more inclusion to players who are disabled. Over at reddit you'll read some interesting perspective from people that feel empowered by having a character like the Inquisitor.

I inserted a bit of myself into my Inky, despite the differences (a lesbian woman and a straight man don't have that much in common, yeah?) and if it was my limb, I would feel sad about it. This part is the part that made it in. As I said, I approve of the fact they cut it off to save her.
I don't wish it hadn't happen, I wish it hadn't been necessary. There's a difference there the way I see it.
I doubt my reaction in real life to losing my real left hand would be much different than my reaction to Inky losing hers. The one massive difference would of course be video game versus real life, but other than that, the reaction would likely not differ by a huge margin.

I understand it's your opinion and I also feel deeply connected to my Inquisitors (I have a human and elf that I adore), but I saw it as a sign of my Inquisitor's strength and tenacity to survive in a world where it has done nothing but try to kill him/her. It should be seen as a badge of honor and survival, not of sadness and shame. I honestly feel like my Inquisitors are super badass.
Your Inquisitor lived through things even an ancient demi Elvhen "God" could admire. The Inquisitor has a personal stake in this too by the end of the story because regardless of how you felt about Solas, he was under your organization and was your companion. I doubt the Inquisitor's role will take a backseat just because they lost a limb.
I have all my limbs so I couldn't imagine going through something like that in real life but I find the best inspirational stories about people that beat adversity in the face and find an ingenious way to keep living.
You have a right to your opinion and I don't want to sound preachy but you can see try seeing it in a good light too.
There's a slight missunderstanding, I do not feel any shame. As you say, I feel proud of her for her achievements, and nothing says "I've been through some tough sh*t" better than a missing limb.
It is my preference that she would keep it, but I'm proud of the fact Arianne survived even despite the odds, and her own hand being the no. 1 thing that wanted her dead.
One of the things she reminds me of are combat veterans, who I have nothing but respect for, as a person who once wished to enlist.
And even despite the loss of an arm below the elbow, she still fights - even though now it's even more of a commanding role, from the shadows rather than front-line combat. That is something I am most proud of. The woman is nigh immortal in my eyes.
Which, of course, makes it all the harder if she dies in the future, but it will be the same kind of hit you would expect when someone you see as bigger than life dies.
Sad? Yes. Ashamed? **** NO. Proud? OORAH!

Then it was a misunderstanding on my side. Sorry.
I'd like to perhaps think there's a reason why you don't get a choice whether you can loose your arm or not. I think they really didn't want to leave it up in the air whether the Inquisitor will just disappear and not get involved in the events of the next game. I still think even without an arm the Inquisitor can still be an active participant but I think we can safely assume plans will be happening in the background.

I'm OOL, but I agree with this.
