So dragon rage hits multiple enemies regardless if the weapon is AoE or not right? So I should pick the weapon with the higher damage right? What about speed? If the weapon has lower damage but higher DPS (faster), does it mean my dragon rage will be faster or DR speed does not depend on weapon speed?

DR is based on base weapon damage of your 2Hander not DPS

Look for your fav heal on kill weapon.

Dragon Rage isn't influenced by standard attack weapon speed. This is why you'll commonly find newer Reavers with high-damage/high stat mauls instead of other weapon types. Terrible attack animations and speed, but gives the best bonuses to DR which will be your bread and butter.
Always equip the highest damage/highest stat weapons available to you when you have DR.

So dragon rage hits multiple enemies regardless if the weapon is AoE or not right? YES
So I should pick the weapon with the higher damage right? YES (Base damage)
What about speed? If the weapon has lower damage but higher DPS (faster), does it mean my dragon rage will be faster or DR speed does not depend on weapon speed? Dragon Rage does not depend on weapon speed, so forget about DPS

Thanks all. I was using a Maul with higher damage but lower DPS than an AoE bladed 2-Hd-er. I kept the AoE weapon because when I get back to level 1 without dragon rage I would need to use it.
I have to say the blades look so much cooler than my Horse headed maul though....

Thanks I am waiting for it. I do have some cotten saved up but I am sure as soon as I put that on my horse headed maul, a cool looking purple 2-handed happiness will show up in one of the those stupid 2000 gold chests.

Yup good idea to save that cotton for sure. Hopefully you can get something like the Sulieven 2 handed sword sooner than later that has built in hok I believe.

I'm a little further on than you. Some advice:
Don't ever use your cotton. Save it for a level 20+ purple. It's so hard to come by.
Also, before you craft anything, make sure you are absolutely sure what you can craft weapon mod-wise before you use it.
Cunning, Con, heal on kill, mats should never be used to craft anything. I'm sure some of the more experinced players can be more informative.
Also, you will be getting, if you haven't already, a ton of runes. Don't be afraid to use them, even the master level ones. Definitely use anything less than master whenever you get a new weapon you will use.

If you are new(ish) without top gear or stats, try stick near a Bard / Ssaarebas for attack speed bonus / damage bonus, or a barrier caster for barrier, or behind a Lego/Templar to minimise unnecessary aggro.

I suggest saving all cottons for at least an upper teens lvl purp, higher if you feel comfortable at that point without it. Also as a low promotes player and using a Reaver you could use +constitution and %heal bonus mods in your armor to help that "I'm Wolverine!" survivability. I would suggest not wasting those type of mods on base armor, with low mats I know it's tough to wait for a new armor to drop but if you like Reaver then invest what ever non-cotton mats you have to craft a higher tier armor set. That said, I am a relative newb too so I could be talking nonsense. That said, regardless of newb status I am often talking nonsense.
After I understand how different tiers armors work on the armor thread, I crafted all T2.5 purple armors for all my characters. All those chests with junks are good for something! It is nice because it kinds of make them invincible in Routine... mostly.
I have a 56 hp mod and 6% heal on my Reaver's armor. I also have a 9 Con mod but I think the 56hp is better than 9 Con?
I opened about 50 2K chests and only gotten about 5 cottons from all the salvages. Yeah I want to wait for a purple weapon before I use them up.

Reasons to take a maul
-slightly higher base dmg
-You are good at using the attack-cancel exploit
-You are really accurate with the maul attack animation
-You never use the basic attack
-You can leave AoE dmg to your abilities
Greatsword/Greataxe
-AoE
-better stamina regen
-better accuracy
The avvar comes to mind as a character that can run on almost constant ability spam.
The reaver does not
-AoE Heal on Hit
-Needs the stamina
-Sometimes the basic attack is tactically superior to the slower Dragon Rage
+Break blocks (not terribly relevant since the block nerf)
+ Better lunge towards the enemy
There was a brief moment where you might favor the Dragonmaul because it could be modded and the Dragonsword could not be modded, but I don't see mauls coming out on top unless there a maul with some very special stats out there.

Yes, I really wish using a 2H axe or 2H sword was better than the Maul of the Dragon...but only the Hakkon GS falls into that category that I recall offhand.

As said, save HoK until at least 20+ weapons. Adding more Constitution to the Reaver is actually very good advice -- remember that you gain 1.5% Attack per 1% missing health so simply *having* more health means you can afford to be at a lower percent. So it's both a defensive *and* offensive boost.
Don't be afraid to use them, even the master level ones. Definitely use anything less than master whenever you get a new weapon you will use.
No no no no no. Anything that's not at least 16 damage should just be salvaged. Runes are *guaranteed* 1 metal, 1 cloth, 1 leather. And abilities ignore runes anyway.
Hakkon GS or Maul o' the Dragon on lolReaver?
Hakkon. But the difference isn't as huge as it is for other Hakkons, especially with lower stats overall.
I also have a 9 Con mod but I think the 56hp is better than 9 Con?
45 hp *and* 4.5% melee reduction is better than 56 HP.
There was a brief moment where you might favor the Dragonmaul because it could be modded and the Dragonsword could not be modded, but I don't see mauls coming out on top unless there a maul with some very special stats out there.
Wait, what? Maul of the Dragon is a minimum base damage increase of 10.5% (if armor is 0) and potentially more like a 16% base damage increase (if armor is 100ish).

So? Those are not high dmg increases for using such an unwieldy weapon
It would have to be a flat 25% increase before I'd take a maul

Worth mentioning here that you can "make" cotton from metals. Craft the Tier 3 Staff Blade that is all metal, then salvage it. You will get tier 3 cloth. Not a great ratio, around 9 to 1. Still, useful when you have 300 paragon's luster sitting around.

1, effectively having 10%ish more crit is not a high damage increase?
2, how is using Dragon Rage with a 2H Maul any different from using Dragon Rage with a 2H Axe/Sword? I haven't noticed a difference -- have you?
