Just found a ring of doubt, and that fun didn't last for long. Went into a conversation where I recruited an agent shortly after - in the agent recruitment animation I was not stealthed, and after that, I remained unstealthed. Taking the ring off and putting it on again, does not restore the stealth - neither does the ring work on another mage.

Reloaded an earlier save, got the ring, and gave it to Solas. Don't want to risk dialogue breaking it again, and think being stealthed constantly might get old fast, even if it is a very powerful advantage.

[edit:]

Just learned that the bug will break the ring even if it's worn by another party member, OR when it's just in your inventory when you recruit an agent. That REALLY sucks.

Did you enter combat?

Just entered combat with it on, and it started working again. Is it only supposed to work in combat? That would make sense. The thing is, prior to doing the agent recruiting, the stealth was always on, even out of combat. Maybe THAT was the bug?

Maybe THAT was the bug?

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but yes, I think THAT is the bug (I came here looking for a workaround), and it's really annoying -- the odd whispering noise you get while cloaked is tiresome through headphones, it looks really silly, and I find it a bit jarring that friendlies can still see you (if it stopped the requisition officer from saying "Inquisitor" every time you get close it might be worth the sacrifice), so I was hoping there was a solution other than taking it off and putting it back on again after a fight. Planting a landmark flag clears it, and if you happen to be uncloaked when closing a rift you remain uncloaked until combat resumes, but other than that it's pretty much pot luck.

As an additional bug I've also noticed that casting "Energy Barrage" doesn't uncloak you (at least with a fire staff equipped; not tried it with any others), which pretty much nerfs every fight if you have the patience.
