Her outfit definitely is, but there is a damn good reason she doesn't talk, and unlike the reason for her outfit it makes sense and ties in importantly with the larger themes of the game.I'm just amazed people even try to justify her as being a good character from what I've seen. Even her lack of speech seems to be designed to cater for the socially inept (don't worry; yes she's hot but you don't actually have to talk to her! Keep calm!).
It's like it's designed for 13yr olds.
Why can't Mass Effect have squad mates like MGSV's Quiet.

You mean having a squadmate that's actually useful in battle, instead of a bullet-sponge that has the survival instincts of a cornflake in a bowl of milk?
Then hell yeah! Now having a squadmate as a hawt piece of eyecandy....I'm all for that too. Having both is awesome.
Quiet has saved my ass plenty of times in MGSV, I mean damn, the girl is good at her job.
She scouts out enemies & target objectives, provides useful cover fire, and assists during boss fights, and is smart enough to avoid enemy fire(most of the time). And if an area/guardpost is open enough, she can single-handedly wipe it out.
Enclosed areas like buildings or areas with poor sniping points, not so good. But that's more D-Dog's specialty.

I miss Quiet wrecking everything with her Brennan while I go behind the enemies back and steal their stuff.

This, tbh. The fact that she doesn't speak is completely unrelated to any kind of fanservice her character offers.

Hm well question though!
Since your avatar is Kid from Chrono Cross....

I am curious as to what distinguishes her outfit from making sense versus Quiets in MGS5..? I was thinking of some reasons... I also must add though Kid was pretty cool always kept her in the party in that game ![]()

Because she had a virus that attacks her if she speaks English? Seriously? That's your damn good reason? Her outfit definitely is, but there is a damn good reason she doesn't talk, and unlike the reason for her outfit it makes sense and ties in importantly with the larger themes of the game.
It's is almost as ridiculous as her breathing and drinking through her skin.
As I said, designed for 13yr olds - which is fine as long as it is acknowledged as such, and people accept the bollocks explanations for what they are - a (very) thin justification for having someone prance around in their underwear. It would probably be better if they didn't even bother to justify it.
Also, I notice no comment on that lovely let's kill her and then try to rape her lovely dead body scene - let me guess, that's okay as she ends up killing them all. Nothing like showing how strong a woman is by having her fight off rapists eh. Wonder why Mr Snake doesn't have to go killing a bunch of guys who try the same on him.
I hope to god mass effect doesn't go down this route - or of it does it treats it seriously.

No one is compelling you to buy the game. Seems like her outfit is a burr up you azz, by the reaction... but semi nude sex scenes is ok?
Just asking.

It's not just about the nudity/sexiness, it's about when and how it's used. Some tasteful nudity in a consensual sex scene as part of a long and involved romance plot is an entirely different thing than a character prancing around practically naked while the camera is constantly perving over her body no matter whether it's appropriate to the situation.

I've already posted on how I detest her outfit, the fanservice, etc., but that is a completely separate matter from her not speaking. If you played the game, you'd know that (putting this in spoilers to avoid spoiling things for people who are still playing MGS5 but aren't that far along - seriously, don't read this until you're fairly far in):

No. Sex scenes should be completely nude.
Ridiculous justifications for characters not speaking and them rolling around like a cheap burlesque show for the titillation of little boys whilst wearing bugger all is a completely different thing, as you know.

Oh come now von uber, I am pretty sure men of all ages enjoy looking at naked and half naked women, to pretend this is the sole domain of the adolescent kind of makes you come off as slightly immature as well as the surest sign of immaturity is the unending pursuit and desire to appear mature.

Yes - but not when they are supposed to be in an active war zone and a professional killer. How hard is this to grasp? It's all about bloody context - if she was a stripper I could understand it.
The reasoning behind her supposed look is so risible as to be insulting - I would respect it more if Kojima had just said 'I like looking at ******'.

Yes I am right there with you on why Quiet's costume design is stupid von uber, I respect Kojima's freedom to dress his characters however he wants in the games he creates but I also respect your freedom to voice your opinion (which is an opinion I share) on how dumb the costume is. I don't for a second buy Kojima's in game reason for Quiet's state of undress and feel it is incredibly silly that anyone would try to claim that the reason Quiet's costume was designed the way it was is because of any other reason than it gives Kojima a hard on.
But that being said I stand behind every artists right to create whatever they want, if Kojima wants to create a mute scantly clad woman who exists purely as a sex object then he has every right to do so, of course we have every right to say how stupid that character is but we have no right to say that he can't or should not be able to do this.

Your logic is all based on refusal to accept the parasite and its effect. Read Galbrandt's Spoiler for detail info on the parasite.
It is a fantasy game, not a real world simulation. In reality, Kojima needs to sell the game. If Quiet's outfit sells, that is Capitalism and well within his purview to create one. The M 18+ ought to tell you what to expect. Allowing oneself to get super upset at a costume is being silly.
Look here: https://www.youtube....h?v=2NESbyYPqnk
You get upset at this too? or accept women that wear the outfit in public....

Several times while playing MGSV I was left just scratching my head at Quiet.
Don't get me wrong,
I loved her combat effectiveness,
But I felt there was a wasted opp to develop her just a little more, beyond the peep show.
But if it's any consolation,
My German Shepard (Reg) goes everywhere with me without a stitch of clothing
EDIT; His name is Regent, Reg for short, I wasn't being an elitist, cause he's part mutt.

People only hate fanservice when it isn't aimed at them.
I'm a straight Man of probably the exact Age Group that was aimed at, yet still detest it.
People hate Fanservice when it is so damn blatant and idiotically "justified".

True. Miranda and Samara's suit and everyone complained, Thane's chest and Jacob's outfit no one batted single eyelid of how it was too sexual or unlogical for combat.
Still when it comes to Quiet from MGS5, her fanservice was plainly too much and stupid and reasons as "why" are even more dumber excuses. Still as someone already said in another thread that had something to do with MGS5 is you have to give credits to Kojima for even bothering to give some sort of cheap excuse to this exaggerated fanservice. However as OP said, her outfit to the side I actually liked Quiet more then some "Dragon Age" and "Mass Effect" characters who actually talked!
