Hello!

 

I know about Blackwalls personal quest (there are many variations for it in the Keep), but so far I never actually got to see it in-game in four playthroughs. 

 

How can you access it?`Normally, all companion quest just happen over the course of the game. I even started several playthroughs trying to just get his personal quest, and I never succeeded.

 

Now, with my most recent, I tried the following:

 

-found all Grey Warden artifacts (except the ones from Emprise du Lion)

-made Celene empress

  -nobody died

-took him with me on that Darkspawn-operation in the Western Approach, where he gained a lot of approval

 

I'm at Skyhold, with the Winter Palace quest completed so far.

 

Does his quest unlock with very high approval only after a certain amount of main quests? Is there anything else specific I need to do?

Approval + both Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts and Here Lies the Abyss completed.

After that you should have tavern scene with him and when you return to stables, search should appear. Finding note should start his quest.

You have to complete both Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts and Here Lies The Abyss.

Make sure that you talk to him in the stables, too.  You'll have a couple of different conversations with him over the course of the game.  And you don't have to find all of his grey warden things before this happens.  I've done it both ways and you can still find them (after knowing the truth about Blackwall) and he'll thank you anyway.

I'm always talking to Blackwall. Still never had that conversation, even in my first Pro-Warden playthrough.

 

I hope the approval rating is high enough now so I can finally get his quest.

 

What if it doesn't trigger after Here Lies The Abyss? Collect more Warden items and re-do the entire quest?
