I feel like the games have stayed pretty consistent with the storyline but the suggestions I have are as follows.
1. Bring back duel wield warrior
And blood mage

2. Hair choices are subpar compared to what I've seen on npc's

3. Body morphing I don't always want my hero to look completely in shape because we all do not irl

4. Mages ability to use their staves in physical contact

5. Fighting stances varying by race and class i.e. A quantity has trained to be a warrior so he would stand more boldy than a city elf.

6. The kill cam from DAO! I love the combos and how that works in DAI but the glory of the slow-mo-Ima get-this-mutha-now cam!!!

7. Fluidity to relationships. I mean include the little things like you do in ME , the tension, the philosophy, the angst I'm speaking along the lines of Jack in ME2 and ME3

8. The armor's need to be vast and varying like DAO and DA2

9. Last but not least I'd like to play as a good Darkspawn we know they can be intelligent maybe a shift in their paradigm akin to the Qunari

None of this "8  ability slots only" garbage. Some of us actually own decent computer rigs.

First, I want the obvious mistakes in DAI fixed, such as:
1. Short main story
The time spent on useless side-quest locations could be better spent in making more story content, like making us do a few favors for Gaspard in Exalted Plains before being invited to the Winter Palace, and then one more mission before Arbor Wilds, maybe where Corypheus attacks some settlement or Skyhold. DAI felt like a very incomplete adventure, and Corypheus didn't look like a threat to anyone except the protagonist;
2. Too many fetch quests
They voiced them. I can't understand why. If you have the money and time to voice fetch quests, take the voiceover from 3 fetch quests and make 1 normal with decision-making; At least like in Jaws of Hakkon, although I would appreciate more than 2 options sometimes;
3. Control issues
If you make combat system that has flanking advantages, make an option to choose the facing direction in tactical screen.

As to my preferences:
1. More dialogue based quests;
Something KOTOR style would be nice, where even tapping (convince) sometimes wouldn't be the answer; Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts was close, but not enough;
2. More cities;
Val Royeaux was a dissapointment, even worse than Denerim in DAO, and I've been looking forward to visiting it until DAI came out;
Novigrad in Witcher was amazing, something like that would be nice;
3. More interesting demon encounters;
In DAO there were a desire demon in circle tower, I'm still hoping for something as ambiguous as that encounter was;
Imshael was cool in the book, but a complete let down in the game;
4. Less annoying random encounters while exploring;
In other games with constantly spawning enemies you at least can escape them, in DAI that isn't even an option because of the party; That was annoying as hell with all this 5 min fights with bears;
5. More brutal choices;
We led the organization in DAI, but never had to make difficult decisions where being brutal at one point could save the whole city later, while being soft would let it burn;
In Winter Palace choosing less bloody option supposedly leads to more gruesome consequence for Orlais, but we never get to see any of it. I would appreciate witnessing the destruction of something late in the game because of the decision I made in the beginning;
6. More party killing/betrayal;
Betrayal in Tresspasser was amazing, you couldn't reverse it with romance or high approval and that was a consequence for something you've done a long time ago;
Plus it made sense and showed more of what it means to follow the qun. I enjoyed that one a lot;
7. Standoffish companion;
I liked Sten in DAO, it always felt like a little victory to make him talk a bit more.
I think companions in DAI are the best in the series and the strongest part of the game, but I could use one who absolutely dosen't want to talk about him/herself(or even talk with you at all) at first and takes some effort to win over;
8. Make it the end of the arch;
Enough with the constant cliffhangers, I want the fourth one to end soundly, without feeling like it was just a prologue to something bigger. I'm sure it's possible to make the fifth later with new story and entirely new cast of characters;

In my opinion, DAI fell only a few steps away from being a true masterpiece that the DAO was, but still it was a step in the right direction.

Hmmm one of my biggest would be let me choose what type of protagonist I want to be. In Baldur's Gate, Jade Empire and Kotor we could (at a point that made sense for the story) choose not to be the shining hero out to save the world - we were stopping the antagonist because we wanted power for ourselves. And in all three games that had consequences. I really miss that type of choice.

I want to begin by thanking the entire Dragon Age team (past and present) for all of the hard work that you have put in these games and the faith you have in the fans of the franchise. I believe each game has improved on the next in many ways and hasn't in others. This is my list of things I would like to see different and returned in the next Dragon Age.

These are not in any particular order:

Returning

  •    Trevor Morris - soundtrack. I loved the music in this game and would really like to see him return as the games composer.
  •    Open worlds - I believe this was done right, and I really enjoyed exploring these beautiful and various lands.
  •    Puzzle quests like the "Tomb of Fairel- would love to see more of those that forced exploration instead of fetch quests.
  •    Companions, obviously. One of the main features in Bioware games that I love are the attachments I make with my companions. I would love to see more dialog, cut-scenes, and maybe deeper loyalty missions for each. I realize that you guys are probably working toward that though.
  •  Love the voice acting.
  •  I really enjoyed the writing, while the final battle with Corypheus felt lacking, I thought his concept was great. I love the feeling of mystery and intrigue in regards to the lore, and love that the writers are only giving away enough to keep us wanting more. I feel like there is a bigger story playing out in the background while the main story keeps us with an objective, and I want more of that.
  •  Love the combat animations - would love to have more.
  •  Graphics / Artwork - love it.
  • Multiple playable races
  • Multiple romance options (I would like to see these become more in-depth as many would and would like to feel like I am in a relationship with that person more than just at home base and a few lines of banter.)

Things I would like to see changed:

 I think many people have already touched on a few of these, but I believe the main thing is the lacking of some rpg elements.

  • I would like to see ability points that I can spend to give my character high persuasion or be able to intimidate, and have the dialog options for those. I would like to have my rogue, be a rogue - stealing, pick-pocketing skill, etc. I made me so frustrated when I couldn't save the Halla in Origins because my survival skills were low, but it was satisfying to rectify that on my second playthrough.
  • I would like to speak to my companions in the field and not have that option restricted to home base. Even if its an illusion of conversation, I would still like it. I really liked being able to ask Leliana about the various places we were in for lore content in Origins, and it would be great to have that again.
  •  Tactical view could be improved on, but I tend to treat combat like Mass Effect, I pause, move my characters around in third person view instead of tactical view. For me this isn't as big of deal, but that isn't without saying that I found it useful in Origins.
  •   I would like to have a secondary loadout. Sometimes, even as a mage, I would like to have the options of daggers when in face to face combat.
  •   Would like to know where my approval is with each companion.
  •   I want the gift system back. I liked that.
  •   More indepth character creation.
  •  Choices matter (past and present)
  • No more fetch quests. Quests that have good stories and well...reasons.
  • oh...one more very important change - please have my female character act/walk/move like a female in cut-scenes. I cringed every time my female elf walked like she was carrying a mass of muscles.

At the end of the day - doesn't really matter - I am going to throw money at you either way.

1. If I want to play a self-serving ruthless bastard, please let me, I like having the option.

2.Please bring back at least a little grit, things like the City Elf Origin horrified me, It invested me though, I don't want the whole game to be that, but I feel Inquisition whimped out on the shock moments a little, no serial mom killer. I miss having the world scare me a little.

3. I would gladly accept half the area's and side quests if we had one or two more story missions with unique areas. Please focus on main missions and really strongly written side missions. Quality over quantity.

4. We know most if not all places in Thedas use the Gold, SIlver, Copper Method of money, I know Orlais calls them different things and for Inquisition it made a little sense to change it to gold because we were in 2 nations, but now we're in Tevinter, so back to the

3-piece system please.

5. No more resource farming please.

6 I'd like for most Companions to be able to betray/leave/attack you (whatever fits the characters) if approval is really low, Isabela and Zevran moments were awesome and added a nice layer.

7. The silly moments of Inquisition were well done (looking at you Nug king and Storvacker) don't overuse them, the balance was perfect in Inquisition.

8. Keep Race-Specific Dialogue/War Table missions, it really helped each character feel unique.

9. If we're a leader and we're supposed to be making changes, give us back the War Table, it really did give the feeling of importance, if we're low key, maybe don't bring it back I don't want it's feeling of importance ruined

10. Despite playing it very little, multiplayer is rad. If it doesn't take up dev time bring it back.

11. I'd love to command a big battle, the previous games have dabbled in it, but giving groups orders such as "Defend the Gate" vs "Defend the Smallfolk" and having it actually affect the battle would be a dream. Next game will be current gen only, so please let this happen.

12. If there was a hair/beard in a previous game please bring it back. Just for the people who want to remake their Hawke/Warden/Quizzy.

13. I'd like the Inquisitor to do stuff , just not to be useless. Bonus if we get to choose their dialogue. Looking at you Tales Of The Borderlands.

I would also like to see more & different hairstyles but also be able to possibly use the color wheel for them as well (perhaps not have purple or pink hair but) have hair with "natural" highlights or more than one color like we can do with our eyes (& lips) in Inquisition

Reading through everyone else's comments got me thinking about how much I miss having a PERSONALITY (angry sarcastic "happy go lucky" ect) like our Hawke character(s) in DA 2 I'd like to see that again for our next character whoever he/she may be. And maybe have our side quests actually have more of an impact on our main story. I also agree about our "friendship" with our companions maybe have us do more with them ACTUALLY take the time to get to know each other maybe more active companion quests (kind of like Solas's ,Sera's or Dorian's) let us be MORE involved in each other's lives (even more Wiked Grace games or just random everyday foolhardy stuff [tavren hangouts, walks alone with certain companions in a "getting to know YOU better" manner not just "play 20 questions" about things that have nothing to do with the character themselves (although asking about their people is kinda getting to know them & how life was like for them growing up among their people). But more interactions between them would be nice. I've said on your Facebook page how I miss having more conversations with them (like in DA Origins) where we could speak even when we weren't at camp also let us choose our own answers for those convos. And so our choices have consequences with not only our companions but everyone around us (story wise etc). Stop making it so we always win no matter what we do (always become Inquisitor, Champion, Hero etc) what if we became even worse than our enemy?! I know that when I first started playing Inquisition I tried to NOT become Inquisitor (mostly to see what happens) & was kind of disappointed that I became Inquisitor no matter what I said. It would have been interesting to see how it would have turned out if Cassandra or someone else became Inquisitor but we stayed on ( perhaps as her "right hand" or just normal friendly support) (there's no way I would want to become DIVINE ;-P lol

I wanna see the Extinct/mythical creatures (Griffins, mermaids, unicorns etc) cause who knows maybe they aren't TRULY Extinct maybe someone "hid" them in the lands beyond the Eluvian's to protect them from the things we did to them & their home I was kinda disappointed in your version of the Phoenix though it isn't what I imagine when I think of a Phoenix (I think of more Harry Potter's Fawkes [in the movie])

My boyfriend would like to see the graphics of BETHESDA from SKYRIM along with the DA storyline fighting style DA2....... I've been wondering what happened to the little servant Elf (that I actually most affectionately named Lath) that we meet when we return to Haven after closing the rift for the 1st time (when we 1st woke up) even though she had a very small part I still liked her it's so interesting to see how even the characters who have such small parts to play in the story can make such a big impact :-)

Mages -

Since DA2 I've been disappointed about having the elements of my atacks attached exclusively to my staff. I mean... I'm a mage...Why can't I control the element I'm using?

I thought about something like this. The mage would have a hot key button to change the element that he wants to use.

For exemple : I press 1 and BANG! Now I've been trowing fire from my staff and then I press 1 again and BANG now It's ice... and so on with all the elements.

This could even affect the other spells on the skill tree. For example : The fire ball does it's regular job when you use it with the fire element selected, but if you choose Lightning the you've got a Lightning explosion. Maybe it doenst event deal damage, but freezes everybody's ass.

Now Fade step was a hell of a spell. Really, congratulations for that, I loved it. But I was thing about it, and imagine that if we could change the element and now Fade step deals fire damage, or lightning damage. You could even make an specialization (Necromancer, maybe) where you unlock the spirit "element". Now you can deal regular spirit damage and some of the spells are going to change to it. Now fade step deals spirit damage.

I think that you should have also a neutral element, like RAW power, like you had in DAO (<3 God bless this game), and raw power could like, deal less damage, but It could be related to telekinesis, pushing people away (like the force mage does... Now that I think about it...) but anyway, Image that if you select this, your fade step doesn't deal damage, but instead, it knocks everyone that are on your way, down.

Anyway, I like the Idea of the mage being someone who CONTROLS the elements, you know. My staff Is a weapon, but It must not be the essence of my magic. It must help me, not limit my magic. Also, I think that all the classes should be able do fight without their weapons.

I mean, when I was in fort Drakon I really thought that I was going to show those bastards what a naked mage can do.

"BITCHES! I'M HELL INCARNATED! I DON'T NEED NO SWORDS TO oh look... my gear..."

hehe Anyway, I think that It would be nice.

Maybe this cycle of elements that I sugested could be used for other classes? Maybe? You change your stance and now you fight heavy style. Big damage, but less shield, and so on.

P.S.:

OH! And make the mages spells great again, please! D8

AND! Maybe you could make women characters don't run like...In a sexy way... "Oh, god a dragon, I need to run while I wiggle my butt..."

Maybe we could choose our personalities instead of our voices? And it includes our animation.

If I want a heavy stupid warrior, she'll kill people, and poke her nose, and spit on the ground, lick her wounds at the end of the battle.

Or we could have a really cute one, she smiles more, she sends Ironical kisses to her enemies, AND she wiggles.

I would like a little more class flexibility if possible. I know some upeople have suggested del wielding warrior to return, I would also like archery for warriors to come back... it was cool on Origins to be able to switch my warden between archery and a light tanking character while they were a warrior.

I can't imagine many complaints appearing due to having wider variety in class builds!

As for story related preferences... I have some, but I am happy enough if the story takes other directions than I would prefer. Although just saying, DLC's along the lines of Darkspawn Chronicles could be interesting in DA IV... such as a DLC showing Solas succeeding in his plans, or the Qunari pummelling the south of Thedas into submission.

Alright I'm brand new and just saw the thread, I dont know if any of these have appeared yet but here's what I would like to see:

1) Different places of origin for different races

2) Female Qunari companion

3)Sandal explained or as a companion I don't care I just want him back

4)Charade Amell

5) At least visit a university. They've been talked about but that's about it

6)Antiva

7)Romanceable Dwarf companion (I love Varric but I think it's time for him to go)

8)Being a dick to a certain companion will have backlash from the other companions that liked the companion you were being a dick to

9)Longer story

10)Less side quests (those god awful 'fetch this for me' quests can go die in the fiery pits of hell of which they were forged in)

11)I really like the war table so if that could come back that would be great

12)What the hell happened to Brother Genitivi- please explain

I haven't played many DLCs so I dunno if some of these were addressed or not

- In all three games now the Qunari have been teased as an existential threat to the prevailing order of Thedas.  After the audacity of the Dragon's Breath conspiracy I feel like it's buck or walk time for them.  Either there are serious repercussions for the attempt to assassinate every ruler in southern Thedas, or failing that we are given a very, very good explanation of why such repercussions are not forthcoming.

- For imported saves featuring a lyrium-addled Cullen, a minigame called "Cullen's Radiator Quest" in which you guide the noble commander on his epic journey to steal radiators to sell for scrap so he can buy more lyrium.  The tagline would be "It's a thin line between Skyhold and here".

- A sidequest in which you punch Dereboam in the face and never stop punching him.

- Snoufleur mounts.

- Snoufleur vanity pets.

- The first fully snoufleur party member to appear in a Dragon Age game.

- A quest in which you help a faction solve a succession dispute, and your choice of candidate has some tangible bearing on the narrative and gameplay.

- A war table-style mechanic which doesn't feel like godawful freemium nonsense.  If you must have silly missions where the only rewards are text and vendor trash, allow me to complete them ten at a time so my board isn't filled with tiny lightbulbs constantly.

- Confirmation that Tallis has died and will never return.  A Poochie-style "died whilst returning to home planet" will suffice.

- David Hayter.

- Oghren.

- Movran.

- Snoufleur.

I would love for there to be a game around
Andraste and the war she fought in. The hero could be her and you could call it "Dragon Age: Bride of the Maker" or something. I think it'd be great how you'd get to play a game with the history of the chantry and how it became as the base.
It'd be a game where Tevinter are the main bad guys and not just some bad guys that do horrible things you can't do anything about, just listen to it.
Not sure about anyone else but I really want this idea to be a reality.

I’ve loved the franchise thus far… all 3 games actually.

What I would like to see is a darker narrative, where choices aren’t black and white, but rather morally grey; a simple example being a decision where someone innocent will die either way.  I would also like to see the narrative layered.  A primary campaign concurrent with a global narrative, which the player would not be directly involved in, and regional narratives replacing “side-quests”. I would also like to not be the central hero saving the world, but rather a part of something larger.

Aside from narrative I would like fewer companions, with more developed ones, perhaps even building branching questlines within the context of building relationships with them.

…. and better hair

1) More weapons for mages
2) Execution animations again
3) More than one spec
4)LI villain
5)Better boss fights (the only good ones on DAI were Saarath and Haakon)
6) A ship
7) Darker choices than on DAI
8) Yavana as a companion
9) Challenging enemies (Rock Wraiths, Sha-Brytol and Hakkonites have been good)
10) Leave the southern characters in the south, there is no need for a senseless cameo.
11) Bring back Classic specs

• Stop using the male mocap for female characters!

This. So much this. It killed it for me in Mass Effect when my Shepard sat with her legs wide apart like a guy and walked like a guy and swung her arms like a guy, even when in a tight black dress, she looked like she was in drag because of that male walk cycle. My Quizzie is a giant Qunari, so the male walk cycle doesn't bother me as much, but her posture when siting on the judgement throne... ugh.
