How would you react if the team working on ME:A confirmed only two romances for the game?

less romances if well written are a lot more better then more romance options poorly designed. period.

If it meant that the characters and relationship were more fleshed out it would be great and I wouldn't have a problem with it. The main negatives with it would be that people would have less options and not as much chance of being able to choose a character they like. And also for some people they would have less reasons to do additional playthroughs.

As long as they're well written (and the guy is cute) I wouldn't mind.

So basically the people that are fine with it, are fine with it, as long as they're the only people who matter in the world and the characters created specifically to them.

That's just a sad testament to things...

...

Well I reiterate... I'm for the very best for as many people as possible, and then we'll all share the misery of lack of depth, but atleast we won't go through life as selfish douches. :P

That would be an extremely cowardly move.

I'd be okay with that. Just like companions in general I prefer quality over quantity. If that means only 'one' romance option per orientation divided between two characters, so be it.

I'd rather have a gay LI than a bi male, so I'd prefer more LIs.

I do not subscribe to the quality/quantity dichotomy. One does not inherently exclude the other.

I don't think anyone has suggested that the number of LIs has much to do with the overall quality expected - only the quantity of content per character.

Because budget. Word budget and cutscene budget. The more characters that need to be covered by that budget, the less content each one will receive.

WTF?

You do realize that people who support the idea of fewer LIs with more content apiece might not find any of the available LIs to their liking, right?

Yeah, two is too few but I think 3 or 4 could be a good starting point for a new ME game.  If the intent (and no one really knows) is to continue the series in Andromeda then we all know future romances will be added.  It all depends on how much resources Bioware is going to put into companions and love interests, but I'd personally prefer fewer well fleshed out ones than many watered down romances.

To be fair, I'm sure that if they made ME1 today with the same three romances, they'd do a better job of it if only because they moved away from the stilted shot, counter shot, people standing in place awkwardly with unflinching eye contact method of conversations(a problem that also plagued DAO) with later games becoming more cinematic and organic.

I think six is probably the best happy medium number they can do in the time frame they work with, but that's just my opinion.

I understand. We have hetero female, hetero male, homosexual male, homosexual female and bi female, bi male. Six is perfect. I hated that DAI had more romances for female only and races gated. :/

Misleading graph is misleading.

A lot of those "options" for MaleShep are exclusive to continuing romances, this doesn't excuse what BioWare did to the continuing romances from ME2 for FemSheps.

Really the only full romance from ME2 to ME3 for male Shep was Tali, the others barely had content at all

You can interpret that graph with qualifiers as much as you want, but the graph is factual.  There were 6 options for straight males that offer the paramour achievement.  There were 3 options for lesbians.  And there were 2 options each for straight females and gay males.  You could start using qualifiers like "those ones don't count because you need to import a save file" or "those ones have less content than other ones", but that's all subjective.  Plus, it actually doesn't help the argument any because, using that logic, you can explain away all of the options for straight women (which no other group has to deal with). The fact is that there are 6 options for straight males, double the amount of options for lesbians and triple the amount of options for straight women and gay guys in ME3.  Whether they are available to any given Shepard doesn't matter.  They were written, recorded, animated, and included in the game

I don't romance aliens so the asari is a no go. If the human male is interesting enough I might.

yeah, humans too me, do tend to be prettier than the aliens. Garrus and Thane are cool but still a no go for me.  Liara is a bit weird....and a no go as well.

This is straight erasure OP. I'm not even surprised because the sjw movement was never about equality in the first place!

The Antagonist is a Classic Man I see.

But I would be upset at first if there was just two.  But I'll get over it.  We had only 2 in ME1.

2 does seem a bit few, and if you are going with the really few model I'd think you'd want to go with player sexual for all of them.  I'd probably say 2 humans and 2 aliens would be a good fit.

I wouldn't be dissapointed.

But.....I hope these are some of the best two in-game relationships that I've ever experianced.

If there is going to be quality over quantity then this romance should be of the highest quality, tbh.

If its that emotionally satisfying and worth it, I can deal with those two choices.

Going blue again, it seems.

I'd be disappointed if there were only 2. I do agree with the overall notion of quality over quantity but also think a little more choice should exist, something like 4 options rather than 2.

It should be only one romance with antagonist of the game straight female and to have happy ending you must join her at the end. Outrage would be wonderful.
