I've always thought playing as a spirit that has possessed a body would be a neat idea. You could make use of the personality system in DA2 but instead have the character adopt powers from the different variations of demons. Say if your character's a dick you could then obtain Rage Demon abilities.
Would kind of **** up the class system of course but hey it's a work in progress. ![]()

That might be one of the origin stories.Tevinter slave.

That might be one of the origin stories.
Yup, but that's assuming there will even be origin stories. Nothing is stopping them from going back to the DA2 way if they feel it better suits the vision.

Their gender could also be a potential problem, as, so far, we have only seen Old Gods as people of their own gender. It seems like Solas is actually a special case, as, based on what he says in trespasser, he seems to be the original Fen'Harel, body and all. He says that Fen'Harel is a name that he took "as a badge of pride", though, so it is possible that he named himself after the god, which would mean that the real Fen'Harel could still be out there somewhere, leaving another Old God soul somewhere. I don't know. I'm probably overthinking it.
But Trespasser revealed that the elven gods were never gods at all, only really powerful, immortal mages... Solas didn't name himself after a god, people mistook Fen'harel as a god just like with the other elven "gods".
An old god soul is problematic though. How is it supposed to come to inhabit a mortal body anyway? Most of them are probably gone for good, thanks to the Grey Wardens. The one that was (in som cases) purified during the fifth blight went to Flemeth and then Solas through her. There are two left but they're hidden away somewhere until the darkspawn find them. And that's only one of many issues with it.

Shale is the DA4 protagonist, semi-confirmed rumor.
Shale's big toe is a doorstop at a couple of my HoFs' summer lodge on the shores of Lake Calanhad.

I don't understand why BioWare would change the case closed ending of the original game to give the Inquisitor an intense personal reason to take up arms (so to speak lol) against a very personal nemesis but then create a random new protagonist with no connection to the situation or antagonist for the next game.

I think it a possibility it will be set during the Qunari attack on Tevinter mentioned in the epilogue summary. That gives a lot of potential for types of characters, and I would love to see another origin style intro.

As long as s/he has a flying cow mount I'll be happy.

Protagonist has the Blight and in the middle of the game becomes a darkspawn and the HoF appears and kills them and becomes the protagonist but the calling wins and they leave for the Deep Roads and they die and then Hawke gets involved but a Qunari blood mage kills them and then the Inquisitor arrives but their stump gets infected and they die and then the game ends when Solas crashes the Veil.

you'll either hate magic, hate Tevinter, hate Solas, hate the Qunari, hate your circumstances, hero worship the Inquisitor, Hawke and the Hero of Ferelden, or want the world blown up

The new protagonist is a slave who leads a rebellion against the Tevinter magisters, mirroring Fen'Harel's freeing of the slaves.

Actually, you'll play a Tevinter general...who becomes a Qunari 'slave'....who becomes a gladiator...who challenges...somebody.
