I can survive with this kit but I just simply don't get this kit and how to make him effective.  All I do really is just put points on melee and crossbow all day long.  Also, I really do need tips on using cain trip mine.  I'm always ending up never using them and when I try, they never hit anything. lol.

The one most important tip I can think of when it comes to using the Talon Merc....simple:

 

 

Don't.  

 

 

 

 

But since you are choosing to do so just remember:

he is super squishy but cain mines are mini-nukes...on their evo's..go: Radius, Armor damage, Damage..place them at spawn points in between waves..enjoy your kill streaks

 

Also, if you go Full Melee....it really amps up the arrows..after your first kill, you can go on a murdering rampage with just hitting heavy melee

Cain Mine spam is incredibly powerful....but also extremely boring. His Omni-Bow can be stupidly powerful with the right setup (shotgun omniblade, hydraulic joints, power amp 4 and strength enhancer) and all melee evos in fitness and power evos in passive. His AP arrows are by far the better of the two but Concussive arrows are so damn fun. You will be humping RHA all match long because he is the ultimate glass cannon. The Venom synergizes extremely well with him.

It has 7 grenades, don't believe Kalence when it says it's only 5.

 

Basically... spam AP arrows at everything, snipe with the Crusader and keep the Scorpion handy for surprise Phantoms. Cains are used as actual trip mines, not as mini nukes. Although you do have the option for that, too. Disruptor ammo because I don't use it anywhere else much and it beats cryo ammo on this kit because I can melt armor already, so this helps taking down shields and barriers.

This is how I set him up.  I take a cyclonic rather than power amp as I struggle to stay upright without it. Most damage done using AP arrows, with Cain mines saved for spamming at bosses, or securing a hack area.

Which is why I give mine a Scorpion as sidearm. And why you always should place a Cain or two behind you, so no one can sneak up on you.

i use the robin hood buid, and make good use of the bow tracking ability to release graal shot just before arrows.

simple, no bow, take all grenade capacity in arrow trees and never use them. rank 6 passive take regen grenade and then go nuts

Objection! Every kit has a oh **** there's something close to me answer called the cobra assuming you haven't used them all to avenge yourself to that swarmer or bee swarm at least  .

I find that concussive arrows are not really that useful. So I skip them. And I take an Adas rifle with omniblade making shields light work, yet still amping melee power.

I like to use him to hold one sniper position, and keep pummelling enemies with arrows and Adas while setting 3 mines up behind me, so they will kill/aware me of any flanking, but also if I start to become overwhelmed, I can back through the mines to let the mines take out most of the enemies.
This tactic works flawlessly on giant, but good on jade, white, condor, London, reactor.

I spec him for full melee damage and go on arrow rampages.  6/6/6/6 and no points in explosive arrows.  I use cain mines properly and only spam them in emergencies.  He is actually really fun, but you pretty much have to be hosting for the arrows to work properly.
