I actually thought this was the funniest thing ever. I laughed for a good ten minutes.
Anyone else think Varric went too far with his joke?

Was that supposed to only be an option for those that romanced Cass? I got that dialogue too, and no way she and my female elf were hooking up.
I kind of thought it was a weird conversation for Cassandra to have with my female Elf as well. Especially considering she romanced Solas so no one was even around to propose to. Which made it seem like Cass thought my Elf was going to ask -her-....Ehm no thanks dear, I love you as a friend but I don't swing that way.

Even more funny then that Cass sounded like she'd be okay with being proposed to, regardless. ![]()

Also even with a Lavellan who romanced Solas you can still pick "maybe i'll get married, I've thought about it".
Wtf? I clicked it cause I was curious but in a Lavellan's case it makes no sense whatsoever. Who is she gonna marry, some random person?
I regret having clicked that for some reason
but was curious to see what she would say.
And if you romanced Cullen it's the same, and she mentions that the commander is charming ![]()
But anyway yeah, she's so adorably gullible. The way she shakes her hands when she says "I will kill Varric!" made me laugh so much.
Varric wouldn't ruin the Inquisitor's proposal, so she should have figured it out it was a joke.. but hey she's a romantic at heart, probably just hearing that she got all excited internally and trying to mantain a calm "I'm the Divine" attitude

When she thinks the Inquisitor is going to pop the question to Cullen, she says that he's "not hard on the eyes" or some such. What does she say about the other LIs?

He tells her the same about whoever you've romanced, mine was Josephine, and she talks to you about it and is shocked etc.
That was pretty funny, but doing it to her if she was the one you romanced is a bit far.

Varric's interrogation was years ago by this point. Apparently the guy can't let bygones be bygones. It's not like she tortured him.
Heh, go over to the ME 3 forums, have a read on the first page, and come back and let us know how that 'let bygones be bygones' is working out...
I missed this my first playthrough, might have talked to them in the wrong order, but that might explain why Cass was so agitated when I talked to her even though I'd already married Sera...

At this point, Varric could say 'the sky is blue' and Cassandra would think there is a flood. All he did was mention that the Inquisitor had a 'proposal'. Could have been an art project for all we knew. Still friggin' hilarious though. ![]()
Now, if you meant what he did to Bran? NO. Not even a little bit. Keep that joke ball rolling. Bran deserves every irritation he gets. And when he complains?
'Hey Bran...remember, my door is always...CLOSED.'

But he wrote her in the book!
This. I'm 100% certain that all is forgiven for this reason alone.

I thought the joke was great. I've only played through Trespasser once, with an Inquisitor who romanced Sera, so she got to say to Cass that actually, they'd already gotten married. And then Cass gushes about how the gardens at the palace would be a wonderful place for a wedding. I look forward to seeing other versions of the joke.

I'm wiling to give her a pass for that (but I'm not going to blame Varric, either). She traveled across half the world and he flat-out lied to her. I'd be angry too. Mind you, I understand why Varric lied, and I am grateful for it, but I understand why Cassandra is mad. When I'm playing "self insert" Inquisitor, he tells them both to take a deep breath and walk away. Done is done. And then he checks in on Varric to make sure he's OK.
I understand her anger, too, but trying to batter him for it?? That is a bit much IMO.

Well I actually picked that option too since I am really, really hoping she actually will be able to one day. Come on Solas....don't leave us out in the cold!

What does Cassandra say in that case? I didn't pick that option because you're right, it makes no sense for a Solas romance unless you're being cheeky or just a bit too obsessive hopeful after two years. ![]()

IIRC, he only mentions a proposal to her in general, she's the one that makes the leap in logic to him coming over at that moment to propose.

I...kind of forgot as I was musing about the possibility of her ever getting back with Solas to marry him.....Yeah, obsessive indeed. ![]()

Ahah, I didn't know it was a line for everyone. Poor Cass, her reactions were adorable (...and you can tell her she is, that was nice)
I got that conversation with her, but it was about Dorian. So I thought it was a hint that the option was there. And then mys Inq's little heart got a little broken.
At first I thought it was a bit distateful. I felt weird considering Varric would use somebody's feelings as the bottom of a joke.
But you guys said it already, Cass filled some blanks herself.
And now I kind of think Varric is building that rumor to push the Inquisitor to pop the question (or at least, give him the idea). It would look good in a book.

For Blackwall, she says:
Cassandra: "Blackwall is quite a man. Or Rainier, or ... what name will he go by now when you ...?"
Inquisitor: "..."
Cassandra: "You're not proposing. To anyone."
For Iron Bull, she says:
Cassandra: "I can't even begin to imagine what they'll make of a Qunari consort, but if ..."
Inquisitor: "..."
Cassandra: "You're not proposing. To anyone."

Considering all we know is Varric mentioned a proposal, I wonder who he was actually referring to...
Dammit, now I'm getting crazy ideas about Hawke. ![]()
