I enjoy pugging. Most of them are reasonably competent these days and matches are generally fun. Once in a while I find some brand spanking n00b in a lobby and I just roll with it. Sometimes I stick around for a few, sometimes I like to lobby surf. Keeps things interesting.

^^^ LOL times 7
30 minute Gold..on White? how much did 1 person have to solo of that?
It was mostly a duo, as you see, but we got 2x devices and lower hack, so it was pretty awful on objective waves.
As you can see, the PUGs didn't contribute much, but NS more than held his own, I have no complaints about him.
It was just a cluster from the start.
Edit: I followed this up with an 18 minute Glacier/Cerb/Plat with XAN and mexximal so that made me feel better.

Yeah I had never played with him til this weekend, met him through the AHF chat, but yeah, more than capable player, if it weren't for him I'd have bailed on this lobby before we started lol.

I hosted gold lobby with friend and the bottom player in above pic and another PUG Friday night. 2 matches and made extraction both times somehow. Thankfully, 2 other buddies popped on so, not trying to be ******* said WFOP and started new lobby. Then other guy started spamming messages to me about good he really is and how he can play plat even though he doesn't have good gear or weapons yet. Ok, good, but quit spamming me braaaah. I will give them credit, the 2 pugz, while not very good, did help with objectives and revives
Yeah he didn't have a lot to say after that match, b/c really, what is there to say? lol They did get in the hack circle and managed to mostly stay alive, but nearly every wave was NS and myself duoing to finish it out.
I don't mind carrying a couple of newbies on occasion, long as I'm equipped to do so...but tbh I'd rather play with competent players if @ all possible.
Didn't realize you were on PSN, I'll add you.

Last night ran into a shameless leecher...was on Ghost Hazzard Geth...they had good N7 & CP's...absolute shameless..they would run directly into the middle of a spawn at the start of each wave and wait to get killed / stomped..I witnessed them do it 3 times..before I had enough & bailed...Pugs theze dayz man....then they had the nerve to msg me saying that "It's what I deserved" and left me a few racial & homophobic slurs....
The very next Pug..I dropped into something waffles..? lobby and I readied up with a FQI / Crusader...they got on the mic and demanded I switch weapons to an acolyte / smg combo...because my character had no shield draining ability..????? or else they would kick me...He tried to kick me..no one else would bite..he left his own lobby
after these shenanigans..I started my own Slayer lobby & took whatever anybody dropped in with or wanted to use..I didnt care at that point..just wanted to play
What is with these PUGs lately?

Surely we PUGs aren't all that bad... I mean when playing as Juggernaut on platinum I feel I really take some aggro, as well as getting scores which aren't that bad. With Warlord I often end second on gold, and top the occaisional leaderboard. Maybe the platform you are use has some impact?

How many of these "bad pug" war stories are down to genuinely out-of-their-depth players; and how many are, in truth, perfectly competent players who simply score low because they just can't keep up with the top-tier players around here?
When I'm playing in a game with a top-tier BSNer or two, the scoreboard can end up looking like the "bad pug" screenshots that some of you like to post; but the top-tier players don't expect me to keep up with them, and don't mock me for failing to do so. I contribute what I can and (hopefully) have fun doing so.
(When I'm in a game without top-tier players, the board tends to look a bit more even, assuming we even manage to extract without a competent person in the mix
)
When put next to you guys, anyone who isn't one of you guys is going to look bad.

I do Gold PUGs almost exclusively, and while I complain quite a lot about them, they aren't actually THAT bad. I mean, quite a few individual PUG players are bad, but it isn't very hard to find a group that can finish a Gold game reliably. Honestly, if you manage to get a really good group, Gold becomes a bit too easy for my preference.

Excellent question. Score does not in anyway show competency. I PUG a bunch and I am typically in the top 2, but I also find that if I'm 1st, we didn't make extraction many times, because I consider myself average. But, I always help with objectives, no matter what, because unmaxed manifest problems (credits b******). When I play with friends, I score high, but I got great teammates and 99% of time extracting on gold/plat. LordofWar720 always crushes me on score and I have no qualms at all about that, he has taught me so much. I mentioned this before, but I played with TMB and he had 192k and I came in 2nd with 82k. But, I helped with objectives and revived him once or twice and vice versa. So, I don't look down my nose at people because of score. But, if you are running no gear or garbage setups, which typically coincides with no help on objectives and dying in never land by your lonesome, and running to LZ at the beginning of wave 11, then you probably need to play something less than gold. If you're dropping only 30 or 40k in a gold and you were in whole match, you're leeching. Again, lobby presets impact score as well.
It's not hard to come to this forum and learn how to play. When I started playing MP in February, even on bronze, it didn't take me long to figure out that this was little different than other MP games, so I came here to collect info. That's the beauty of this game, it isn't simply I got a gun, now I'm gonna go kill everything on a gold. You have to have knowledge to play. Some noobs take advice and some are just arrogant ****balls who think they know everything.

Well, it's not really score that makes a bad PUG. It's behaviors like running off on their own and dying, not doing objectives, playing heavy melee Juggernaut, leeching, refusing to gel, using missiles on Wave 11 to try to top score, etc. I don't think any BSNers are going to complain about a bad PUG just because people couldn't keep up with them score-wise.

Was in a lobby with two Batguards the other day.
Both of them were sync killed by Banshees about 5 waves in a row.
And they still didn't learn that they shouldn't biotic charge a Banshee and kept doing it, even on extraction.
And kept getting sync killed.
I was the only person who extracted.

My main gripe is with the horrible Fury players that drop every 5 seconds..they make me really angry
and almost every single off host vanguard...Last night I witnessed a spitfire 2 wielding Slayer...could not contain the anger...
for the most part the PUGS are fine and most of the game's do go smooth..It's just when things start going wrong & I am trying too hard to correct other peoples mistakes...
^^^ I am also guilty of letting bad situations develop on purpose just so I can see how they deal with it..such as a center room hack on White vs Collectors..I will let a praetorian or 2 waltz right into the room ..1: to see if the others even notice them 2: To see if they will rocket them or just watch someone get eaten <--flipside..there are times I will let the weaker players get syncd so the others dont waste time reviving them
also doing all the objectives by myself... I have gotten to the point where If there's an escort & no one else comes to help..I will stand right next to it until someone shows up..<-same for hack...If I did all 4 devices earlier alone..& we get them again? guess what..standing right next to it until someone else comes & does it themselvez...

I wouldn't say most PUGs have been just awful. Are there those matches where you could find yourself dropped into a bronze game looking for gold only to see 3 skulls on wave ? Sure, but those are exceptions. I have more encounters with stereotypical reegar/AIU or harrier/TGI that play for scoreboard topping instead mission success than "oh god why?" PUGs and even these are rare.
Disclaimer: I also didn't really play multiplayer until after the weekend challenges were through and the final balance changes implemented. I'm sure those around during those times would have more accurate data.
Disclaimer 2: My data is also probably skewed as I'm starting to phase out of the multiplayer except for matches with friends who all happen to be talented BSN members (regardless of what MarksMad wants you to believe about him). Given we tend to obliterate everything I couldn't really judge the PUGs as not having a chance to even see something is not a sign of suck.

I agree, just staying alive, doing objective and using consumables is good enough.

PUG aren't that bad, once you are good enough carrying them and finish the match in 20-22 min U/U/G should be no problem,
I have yet to come across a "living BSN god" if that happen then i would take a Volus with Falcon+cryo ammo running around and chilling while letting them do the work.
