Hopefully Trespasser will lead to more post game DLCs in future.

Also the tight story focus was a welcome move.

I think a longer wait is better, really. As long as they spend more time on the story and companions and less on side quests I don't want to do. The linearity of Trespasser was one of it's biggest strengths.

It was good, to be sure.  LotSB and Citadel were better, and Legacy was at least as good.

Still, more like this, less thrones and map packs or wanderings around huge empty areas.  Characters are BioWare's strength, so they need to focus on what they do well.

Prefer Trespasser over LOTSB because it's not overwriting my PC's personality every five damn minutes easily. LOTSB was not that great if you played a Shepard that was lukewarm towards Liara.

Citadel was better though. More convos. Also the "I never get picked" had me dying.

I'll avoid the Zoidberg imagery and simply ask, "Why not all?"  I like the mixed bag of DLCs that we got with Inquisition.

The Zoidberg imagery would not have gone unappreciated.

I'm not saying they can't throw in some big empty areas, they just need to sprinkle in more character interactions within those big empty areas.

That's a fair criticism, but I'm of the opinion that it should be applied to BioWare in general as time goes on.  Seems like an increasing number of  railroading complaints over the last few releases.

Citadel is like, 2 DLCs put together. Not really fair to compare other DLC to it, IMO.

I will agree, though, with not being that big a fan of LotSB, and Liara is actually the least of my issues with it (though I am no fan of hers).

Agree.

If you discard all the mirror hopping just to find loot and gear, most of which was useless if you were already leveled at 27, then the DLC was ridiculously short and easy. In fact the hardest boss of any of the DLC, or dare I say DA:I series, was the Guardian.

And if you strictly stick with DA:I DLC, yeah, it was somewhat the best, story wise.  Game wise and advancement wise, Jaws of Hakkon - at least you got to level up and increase your skill.  But yeah, Trespasser did give you a good story.

And yeah... the Mass Effect DLC's far surpass this one, especially Shadow Broker. And you got more content.

True but Trespasser for the most part avoided completely overwriting my PC's relationships. Those she were lukewarm towards remained so. It was a nice touch. It wasn't forced bffs like LOTSB was.

True enough.

Yeah I had more issues with LOTSB than just Liara (like all that goddamn auto dialogue) but that's just the one that jumps out to me the most.

I'm guessing I don't like LotSB as much as I enjoy Tresspasser because I didn't romance Liara on my first playthrough o.O how the hell is everyone praising that DLC? I already forgot like half the missions.

Anyway, Tresspasser = great. Biwaer, plis gib moar!

I can barely remember anything of note from LotSB. Is this a Liara-mancer thing? only the flying car chase and the fight with the Yaag.

No contest. Trespasser was way cooler.

It is so cool to see all the hate fading away. Did Bioware cast a veil separating the Hate from the BSN? It is all so beautiful here now xD

Might want to take a gander at the Mass Effect Andromeda section.

I think there's some merit to that complaint- but that semi-canon characterizations are increasingly becoming a feature, not a bug, of the BSN model. Gone are the days where the story was supposed to be simultaneously compatible for both sociopaths and moral paragons: now we're getting a more nuanced averaging of the extremes, with all that entails.

Looking back at some of the older Bioware games- KOTOR, Jade Empire, ME1, DAO- Bioware had a significant emphasis on widely divergent tones. Not widely divergent plots or dialogues- the changes were mostly superficial- but the differences made a distinct impression, and gave an increased sense of independence (even if the results were identical). 'Railroading' was a bigger/more legitimate issue here, because there was no significant default response to, well, anything. Most times the player didn't move the plot, only reacted to prompts from companions or antagonists- which was kind of a given with a voiceless protagonist.

The switch to the voiced protag corresponded with a more streamlined character. This isn't just that you couldn't really have as many voiced dialogue responses as you could text ones- VA cost alone- but the options you did have needed to blend together a bit better. Less utter bipolar protagonists.

Since DA2, Bioware's been giving more defined PC characterization dynamics to establish the RPG elements around. Hawke gets canonical warm ties with family,ME3 Shepard got dreams and some canon buddies, DAI got Inquisitor-stuff. Some people feel these are too restrictive- and a limit on what 'their' PC would actually do- but there are some positive tradeoffs as well. Bioware PCs have gotten more involved as plot movers, and not just plot-reactors, in recent games. It also helps the devs push out some strong sequences and even DLC that wouldn't work if the player had as much radical choice in dialogue options.

(Imagine, say, Citadel DLC without railroading in Shepard's comedic tone.)

just finished the DLC and I am in a way speechless... why wasn't this level of quality in the base game? Why did we have to wait for such a level of quality and detail until it is presented in the final DLC. We have a nicely written and interessting story without any potion that feels like padding, yet in the base game we had to search for the interessting parts between all the pointless leg work and fetch quests.

The level of quality seen in this DLC should have been the level of the main game and I really hope that this is something that the developers understand and will try to deliver in the next game of the series. The players of a Dragon Age game play those games for the stories, the characters, the lore and not for endless and pointless fetchquests or to wander through empty areas that have no story, lore or quests attached to them.

Don't try to be an Open-World game. Your strengths always were characters, lore and gameworlds. Leave the Open-World to Bethesda. Don't develop your games with checkboxes of content that has to be forced into the games. Make your own games. I know you can't ignore them complettly but please ignore those tie-wearing managers as much as you can.

So excited to play through the game again with all these upgrades (and trials), Trespasser DLC was brilliant, loved the story!

I wish the base game had a bit more meat and tied the different zones to the story a bit more, but it is still good regardless.....Trespasser just makes it an amazing game over all though :)

I think all this fanbase really wants is fanservice.

This is what I want, yes. Why would someone not want to be pleased however is beyong my comprehension.

You want another situation like DA2 where they are constantly reusing environments?  Longer waits are worth it.  For that matter, DA:I could have used more time in the oven.

Unfortunately I don't have any screenshots, but in a few places I noticed some curious wall art. It depicts elves surrounding and being cowed by a middle figure, who has a shield that looks like it has something similar to the templar symbol on it, and has a templar-looking helmet. Anybody else notice this? I'm sure it's not a templar, but the resemblance was striking to me. If I can find a pic of it I'll edit this post.

Only CItadel surpasses Tresspaser for me, LOTSB and Legacy while amazing don't come close to Tresspaser.

Like Ryzaki said, where LotSB suffers from is the forced relationship with  Liara, which does not exist in Tresspasser. If a companion dislikes you or they are gone, then that stays. If you leave Blackwall in prison he does not show up with some forced bs, he is gone for good.
