So why do we have to PAY for an ending of a game?

Exactly. I didn't like any of the content in them, the amount of content isn't really equal to what we've gotten for the same price before, none of the new items change gameplay like the new gear in Trespasser, and you can get better stuff regardless. Not a good combo. And Descent was definitely overpriced. One of the most disappointing DLCs for me. I wouldn't have minded it so much for $10, and even though Hakkon was alright, I think $10 would have been more fitting for it too.

Yeah I bought Hakkon for $10 and will wait till Descent is priced the same. I enjoyed Hakkon but for $14 plus tax? Nah that's just too much for what was offered.

Origin charges tax in Canada.

Witch Hunt isn't actually good ,though. It's rather grindy and irrelevant. I suspect that is the main difference :P

It's not irrelevant and it's only grindy if you have a crap build. It's the same case as trespasser.

No it's not. You go through reused areas with throwaway characters that answers no questions and unless you romance Morrigan, you get nothing. WH is a joke compared to Tresspasser.

Witch Hunt doesn't even feel like an ending though. Heck, nothing even happens, and if your Warden is dead, it's just some Orlesian talking to her and then it's over and we cut to credits. Awakening is more so an ending, but really it's more like a semi-sequel, because it's a totally different story and can involve an entirely different protagonist.

The most important thing though is that Witch Hunt isn't really essential in the broader scope of the series. You can skip it and not really lose much of anything from it.

Witch hunter is an ending. It's a continuation of the things you see in the dalish origin story and bits Shale's history. It also show what coming next.

It hint's to the event of furture games and has the biggest call to the events of DAI ever. It also answer some question to what happen to Morrigan's child if you let her have it.

Or Awakening for that matter.

If the VO actors recorded this content at the same time as the sessions for the main game, and all level design and writing and so on, the OP might have a point. Likely not though.

This thread is brilliant.

Basically proves that damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Now remember Bioware:

- Don't make DLCs that are related to the main quest! If you do, you MUST give them for free, because we didn't pay for a game, no no no, you silly devs. We payed for the story! (actually, while the story is about Thedas.... why don't you give us any full sequel game for free as well? After all they're part of the main story that is Thedas!)

- Don't make DLCs that are related to a side quest! If you do, it's always boring. And we don't like that.

You know what? Just don't make DLCs at all.

Did people whine this much about how Awakening should have belonged to DA:O main game? Or Arrival to ME2? Or even Witch Hunt? Decisions made in epilogue DLCs might seem important but they're not necessary. ME3 has an incomplete ending, the Extended Cut - THAT is a should-have-been ending, there's no two-way around it. But DAI has a story with an ending. "Two years later" for a game without timeskip is definitely epilogue material. I don't understand how people always manage to complain about everything.

And the best thing is that, thanks to the Keep, you don't even have to buy the dlc to have the choices you make in it reflected in your world state. You could just watch a walkthrough on YouTube or Twitch, and then select the options you want in the Keep once the Trespasser section comes out.

My canon Warden is dead, it's irrelevant. For all my female Wardens, even if I'd let them survive, it would be irrelevant. For more than 3/4 of my male Wardens, if they survived, it's irrelevant, since they didn't romance Morrigan, so it's largely irrelevant, unless you romanced Morrigan, and then, how relevant is it to the overall story anyway? The eluvian?

I'm still waiting news from my two buddies, The Architect and the Messenger.

Because Bioware hadn't decided this plot for DA:I itself, but saw an opportunity to create an epilogue that addressed things that they felt were needed, and truth be told, I think this DLC is probably even better how it turned out as a DLC than if it had been planned for DA:I to come out as part of the main campaign last year.

Hard to tell, but it is what it is, and I think it was really good. It was the desperately needed climax that never happened when the game peaked at Haven, and I gladly payed 15 bucks for it.

Actually, I'm almost certain this was planned out at least in rough concept from the get-go, and since they didn't have time, they made it into an epilogue DLC. And I'm okay with that.
