Hey guys! So as we know Bioware enjoys pulling future companions from pervious games. After completing DA:I two characters really stuck out as being candidates as future companions in DA4.

The first being Calpernia.
She is the chosen vessel for the well if you chose to side with the Templars. She can be convinced to abandon Corypheus. Also if you choose to fight her, she flees leaving her open to being a future companion.

The second being the Viddsala.

She is the female Qunari turned into stone at the end of DA:I trespasser. Assuming this fate can be reversed it would make her a very interesting character in the future games. For starters she will clearly has a strong vendetta against solas. Secondly, failing her mission could cause her to encounter problems with the Qun. Putting her in the perfect spot to join up with some new friends.

Tell me what you guys think of my suggestions, and if there are any other characters in DA:I who you think would make awesome future companions!

Calpernia, possibly she could appear in a future game, she is a nationalist and there is 50% of chances to keep her alive (she killed herself rather than flee) but it's not like Bioware doesn't like to revive some characters they like, and Calpernia was many writers' favorite for what I've heard.

Viddsala, nope, that won't happen, she is a statue on the Eluvian network, the only one able to release her would be Solas, if that sucker wants to destroy the whole world, why he would try revive a zealot of a religion he genuinely dislikes?

Yeah, Calpernia could be possible. I found her pretty interesting as well.

Though I don't really want it so much, I think Harding could fill the role of a new companion as well. She has been present a lot during the games, but I find her a little bit too boring for a companion. Our companions have always had some agenda or hidden past, I don't see that with Harding unfortunately. I do like her as a character, but I'm just not sure if she'd fit such a role and be intruiging enough. Something could happen to her inbetween DA:I and DA4 though, so let's  just see.

I was hoping for Michel de Chevin, but given that he can become posessed I'm not sure how that would fit into the game.

Loved Ser Barris as well, but he can die too... <_<

Honestly though? I want completly new characters. If someone from the past game appears, they should be important npcs (I could see Dorian as an advisor or something similar, which makes me pretty damn excited). Varric seemed kind of misplaced in this game. I loved him in DA2, not so much in Inquisition though.

The only characters I'd want as companion in DA4 are Harding, and possibly Barris and Maevaris.

I need Calpernia back in some capacity, but she's a big character and has her own thing, I'd feel so awkward having her follow me around - unless the writing explained it in a Vivienne way, someone with her own agenda following you for mutual benefit, but not exactly under your command. But she needs to come back in any case, she's an important piece in the Tevinter subplot now and her story is not over.

Dorian is obviously coming back, but I really don't want repeat companions anymore, I want an all-new roster this time. He can stay in an advisor role like Leliana and Cullen were in DAI, and leave the field work for new people. I'd be super happy with getting Dorian as an advisor and Maevaris as the field companion who travels and fights with you.

I'm aware Barris can die, or become a Knight-Commander and thus kind of busy to be following some big hero around, but I love him and I want him back in a bigger role with lots of screentime and dialogue and character building and I'll stop campaigning for him when I'm dead. :P #Barris4DA4

Harding is the safest bet, though. It's obvious the devs love her as much as we do, they've been giving her increasing attention and love as we go, they named her on Leliana's slide as one of those characters being groomed to take Leliana's place, they actually included her in the anti-Solas taskforce stinger.... all signs point to Harding coming back in full force next time around.

Nice suggestions. Calpernia and Viddsala would offer unique insights into their respective socities. Having former antagonists as companions reminds me a lot of Loghain. But which DA I comapanion will carry over into the new game? You had Oghren from Origins into Awakening, Anders from Awakening into 2, Varric from 2 into Inquisition who will be next?

Maevaris, Calpernia and of course Scout Harding.

At least when of them has to show up in DA 4.

Likely Dorian, from Inquisition, the only characters I want as companions are Calpernia, Michel and Valta, characters from other games and media I would like to have as companions are Yavana, Maevaris, Ferynrel and Shale (again), I'm not really optimistic on Viddsala, but, the former Arishok (if was let to live) could fit as well, asuming the Qunari didn't kill him.

Viddasala sucks give me a new female qunari we need more of them in the world as it is.

And give me a Iorveth style city elf/former Tevinter slave dude who's fighting for something better for modern elves in this world - fck the ancient elves, fck the 'gods', fck any non-elves who won't get out of the way of them clawing up out of subjugation, and fck any modern elves who think the answer is whatever Solas has planned. I think a lot of modern elves will go to the DW's side and help him, we need an elf who's an avatar of elves fighting for what they have and could have here in this world - my Dalish quiz would function as this if she appears or is the PC, but in those worldstates where the quiz isn't an elf.. yea. I have a feeling we'll be fighting a lot of elves in our campaign to stop Solas in DA4, particularly a lot of Dalish faithful (BW does so love to make idiots of Dalish lmao), we need a counterpoint to show not all elves are complete morons or lost cause fanatics (delete which is appropriate for you), 'we are people too and this is our crapsack world and we'll fight for it and our place in it'. not a Sera style 'for all little people' and not a Fenris style 'for slave people', a modern elf who is for modern elves.

None, bioware should stop spam with old character especially those they push into their every game and other products and focus on new ones.

Well following biowares previous models they will have mostly new characters. But they will also have a handful of ones we have seen before! Just trying to guess who those will be.

Morrigan or an older Kieran. It really depends on how far on the years the next DA game will be though. I believe these two characters depending on the writing of the DA crew would be the most relevant. At least from an ancient magical knowledge prospective.

Kinda an out there suggestion, but I'd love to see Servis return. His death isn't really confirmed on any route and they could come up with a reason for him escaping jail should you put him there. He ties rather nicely to Tevinter, too, so he wouldn't feel out of place like Harding may, for example.

if you go Mage path, Calpernia doesn't exist. So no, Calpernia wouldn't be one for the next game.

I believe you get options to either kill him or to take him to Skyhold for judgement, no? Or was it 'leave to die'?

Though him returning as a badass allied NPC wouldn't be bad, he was my favourite among those I was judging.

I thought it was just 'she exists, but isn't important enough to be mentioned'...  :?

Harding is hardly out of place, to be fair. The post-credits stinger show her with the Solas-hunting cabal, and out of everyone there she's the only one low-profile enough for them to ship off to Tevinter to represent the Inquisition's interests and help the new hero without drawing too much attention to the fact that the Inquisitor (or former Inquisitor) has eyes and ears in the Imperium and is pulling strings in the background. It would be as easy as Harding coming up to the new hero and saying "hi I heard you're hunting some villain that wants to destroy the world and I have intel on that that you could really help you," and bam, you have a reason to recruit her and keep her around your new squad.

Calpernia always exists in the story, regardless of whether you meet her in your game or not (as does Samson if you go through the Templar path). Both of them served as Corypheus' head generals, and the fate of the one you don't meet in your preferred path is never confirmed.

Further, while Samson can die through the mage path, it's impossible to kill Calpernia through the Templar path even if you attack her. So whatever happened during the Inquisition years, whether your Inquisition fought the red templar or the venatori armies, Calpernia herself is still alive and out there in canon, and could absolutely return if the plot needs her.

Um, she does jump off a cliff, unless you convince her otherwise. But I do want to her to make a reappearance.

Jumping off a cliff into a river is assured way to die only in reality, not in stories. ;)

Having Calpernia jump into the river was done intentionally. Bioware clearly wants her fate to be open ended.

You don't see a body, they're not dead. ;) (Hell, in this series sometimes you even do see a body, and they're still not dead.)

Anyway if Calpernia was really going to die I'd think they'd just have let you kill her, like you get to actually kill Fiona yourself. Attacking Cal just results in a cop out where she runs away and you never get to finish what you started, so I don't buy that she's dead.

Calpernia would be interesting as a companion, but I definitely think the most likely is Harding. A lot of people like her and the ending of Trespasser hints that Leliana is training Harding and others to basically take her place for future events.
