A mod kit, which as we all know is never going to happen under EA's rein, so I'll just quietly let myself out.

Protagonist:
Inquisitor: My preferred option (though I go back and forth), my elf disbanded the Inquisition so she could be hand on in stopping Solas (her love interest) and be there to pull him back from the brink if possible. So if not the protagonist they NEED to be highly involved.
New Protagonist: Wouldn't mind this either, I want them to be an agent of the Inquisition/Inquisition Underground (if you disbanded). Let me explore the hierarchy in Tevinter as well, from slave to magister's kid.
Origins:
I would like origins back if it's a new protagonist. I want the how and why I became an agent, I want to explore my family and life. Like I said I want to see what life is like in Tevinter, I want to be able to play as a slave elf or a magister's kid with and without magic (see how they treat those without). I would love to have Dorian be like Duncan in this sense to recruit you, because well more Dorian XD
I would also rather these origins be less like Origins and more like DA 2, in the way that it's not like you never seen your family/friends again due to some catastrophe or another but have it be you can go back home and see them (frequently) and grow with them still nearby.
Customization:
I liked how deep Inquisition's could be with the grid thing but please bring back all hair/beard options from past games and add so many better ones. And for the love of the Maker make my beards and stubble separate again.
Story:
Spies. That's what I want especially after Inquisition which was everyone knew you right away and was very overpowering, awesome but overpowering. But Trespasser made it clear this was a game of spies and I want to be one for the Inquisition.
My mask to the world is my origin. I am just an elf slave you don't see, I am the Magister's frivolous kid, but then I slip away and become an agent trying to stop the world from ending. And if you're the Inquisitor go under cover, Tevinter won't know your face unless someone finds out *gasp*
No. Please, I like DAO origins. They're the entire reason for me playing DA in the first place.

1. No Nugs
2. No Cheese
3. No Unicorns
Or at least, give me the option to eat them.
I'm so mean..

qunari horns and hairstyles remain two separate entities. The combo was no good.
Heterochromia
One eye/eye patch accessory option
body customization. we're in tevinter, most likely seheron too, so some armors might be the right amount of revealing for both sexes and we're most likely to see some cleavage from both ends
body tattoos
hair that actually looks like hair please
I'm done with british/americanesque accents. gimme the starkhaven scottish or antivan or gravely tevene or even the germanic nevarran
the ability to breakdown weapons and armor into schematics for more powerful weapons/armor
qunari helmets, with facial and body vitaar being an added slot for our bizarre horned friends
all the not ferelden or orlais
Vivienne's hats
Sidequests that flow with the game, feel alive, have their own story, not some a-b donesies stuff
No wartable please, this ain't some F2P crap
Real time choices coming back to bite you, much like that elfy chick who joins the wardens.(I reloaded like hell)
Essence of peril (Champions of the Just delivered on this with the timer)

It must have the Inquisitor as the protagonist and at least half of our DAI companions should be back.

She's probably the Divine, also, I love her Maleficent-y hats. Though I would want to know how she'd fit into the whole Tevinter bit there.

Well, obviously DA will never go back to DA:O. It's politically impossible. Too many career suits inside EA would acquire a stain of failure and of being wrong.
I'm also not so sure it would be so wise. Surely DA must have picked up a few new fans during all this? Let's not drive them away and into anger by yet another big change. I think there's a great game hiding somewhere inside their current system. They should concentrate on weeding out the weaknesses inside DA:I instead. My recommendations would be to completely scrap the combat and character progression system, remake from scratch. Don't let MP concerns affect the design this time. Make a beautiful UI and make it work well with PC and they'll get a big chunk of the most influential customers on their side, instead of against them. Make the game story more focused, but not more forced. "Filler" content have ended up responsible for much of my enjoyment of DA:I, so I say this reluctantly, - but yes, maybe filler content should be cut down?
Otherwise I don't know. Concentrate on writing and characters, obviously, but I do not know what it'll take to make it "truly amazing". I don't think it can be stated just like that. We don't know in advance, because we can't see how it hangs together or is implemented.
It's easier to say what would ruin it.

What does "going back to DA:O" even mean? Slower, less reactive combat? A return to the KotOR/ME1 plot structure? Integrating more of the filler into the main quests?
Origins.

What does "going back to DA:O" even mean?
Good dialogue and characters.
And allow full use of abilities instead of only eight.

Off the top of my head:
- CUSTOM TACTICS!!
- Combat where pausing and tactical thinking prevails over simple button mashing
- Plenty of options at level up, diverse abilities, stat allocation
- Healing magic, blood magic
- A deeper and more focused story
- At launch: Auto-attack, walking, and a tactical camera that can zoom out
- Weapon swap
- Click-to-move, loot, attack
- Select multiple party members
- Run forward by holding two mouse buttons
- Highlight stuff by simply holding a button
- 40 slot FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE quickbar
- Tooltips!
- Minimap can be hidden
- Inventory that doesn't make me ragescream
- Stats on the front page of the character record
- No respawning enemies that parachute from the sky
- Enemies aren't just hit point sponges
- and speaking of enemies: Enemy mages are actually dangerous, they hit hard.
Didn't we already go through this like a year ago? ![]()

- A good story.
- Well developed companions that are accually involved with said story.
- A protag that's not a blank slate (they are soo boring). Origin stories needs to come back.
- Show us the state of the world and the consequences of our choises, don't tell us like in DAI!
- Quirky npcs - the world feels empty without them.
- Real story sidequests, no more cheap fetch quests!
- A good charismatic villain.
- Romances that make you feel. More interactions with the LIs.
- The option to be evil, like in Jade Empire and KOTOR.
- Better character creator. Get rid of the helmet hair!
- Stop using the male mocap for female characters!
- A world like Witcher 3. Big, beautiful, lots of interesting places to explore, changing weather, day/night cycle, big cities and small villages. CDPR made that world feel alive. This is what I wish BW can do in DA4 too.

The developers to stop avoiding darker and controversial aspects because of hypersensitive triggered groups.
Stop trying to be "PC".
A return to form of Origins, the only true DA title in this flawed series.

I've never followed this one. DA:O didn't require any more tactical thinking than the later games. And what does button mashing have to do with any of the games?Off the top of my head:
CUSTOM TACTICS!!

Anyway, thanks for the list. A few of those are things where I think DA:I is superior to Origins, such as character builds. Most of the rest I just plain forgot about; I didn't even know LMB+RMB was a thing until the whole fuss started, for instance.( I'm really insensitive to stuff like controls -- sure, DA:I plays like Skyrim with a Total War tac cam, but since I've played both Skyrim and Total War I had no probkem with it.)

This is all just my experience of course:
Vanilla Skyrim PC controls are... bad. But I know what to expect from a Bethesda game, and we get an official modding toolkit, so there's that. I don't know what to expect from a Dragon Age game anymore. It's the same developer, same franchise, and yet we went from good controls --> bad controls, among other things.
I enjoy combat in Origins, it's more tactical. I pause a lot, select multiple party members, issue orders even in 3rd person view with click-to-move etc., and I set up custom tactics galore. Why? Because it's possible, and because I find enemies to be difficult, your average enemy mage deals a lot of damage on Nightmare, as do the Revenants... ![]()
In DAI I hardly ever pause or think in combat, it's more reactive, so I just 'react' and endlessly click away at their humongous health bars. It gets boring, especially when I expected deeper and more tactical combat. It's fluid, beautiful and flashy yes, but boring nonetheless. Ended up going Casual.
Considering this is a Dragon Age game, character build in DAI is too restrictive and streamlined.
Still glad I bought Inquisition, 'cause it has other good Bioware qualities. I just hope DA4 will be more like Origins, that game has a very special place in my heart, one of the best games I've ever played ![]()

The game do ot need to change into something not in the likeness of DA:O, there is no need to change it into anime-style combat and button mash combat, no need at all. DA only need to upgrade, that's all.
No game developers did what Bioware done, look at Dark Souls 1 to 3 and Bloodborne, they all are basically the same, only the later are upgraded version, everything else are the same. Combat is the same, magic is the same, everything is the same.
DA:O, DA2 and DA:I are all different...DA:O is not DA2, and DA2 is not DA:I, DA:I is not DA:O and DA2...although the title is Dragon Age, all the three games are actually different games
Open world is not a problem, the problem is the game mechanic. DA:O can be open world should traveling is not by activating buttons on map, let say from Castle Cousland to Ostagar is by fast travel or walking with Duncan, as soon as arrived at the gate then cutscene happen, no problem at all...the problem is just the game mechanic changed to buy casual gamers...
