1. Longer Main Story (at least DA:O length)

2. Keep the Composer from DA:I (don't skimp on the tunes)

3. Better Magic Variety (we need a lot of the old school spells back)

4. Better Character Customization (DA:I was good but I need more)

5. Choices that Matter (don't waste time with things like Leliana's death if all we get is one line)

6. "Darkness take you monster!"  (goddammit I want to be the villain again)

7.  Funner Archery (just completely bite Dragon's Dogma okay)

8. No Ambiguous Romances (having to headcanon whether the player character's are having sex in a relationship is silly)

9. No Sera :P

What is gonna make you want to play the game over and over? What is gonna make u jump out of your seat and smile when you play the game?

...

SO WHAT IS GONNA REALLY MAKE IT FOR YOU?WHAT IS GONNA MAKE YOU PREORDER ? WHATS GONNA HAVE U SAYING DAMN THAT WAS JUST AMAZING?

I will pre-order regardless. I have loved all three of the DA games and have sunk hundreds of hours into each one. I'm still playing DAI in between bouts of occasional modding.

Really, the thing that keeps me coming back again and again are the characters. If I have just ONE character that I REALLY like, I will happily play a full game just to hang out with them. It doesn't even have to be a romance.

I never really know about a feature that I will like until I see how it will be implemented. The best example I can give for this would be the DAI crafting. During development, when the DA2 forums were still active and the devs were fishing around there for opinions on certain features, I was very adamantly against crafting. I was concerned it would be a requirement, or that it would be an annoying process, but I've actually come to quite like DAI's crafting.

please hear the plight of the straight male gamer bioware pls. they had to deal with women with short hair and women who weren't white.  :(

Its not the short hair or the skin colour thats the problem its that one looks like a guy and the other is a Disney princess, Vivienne is far more attractive than both of those women and she is has no hair and is a person of colour.

  1. Shorter complete playthrough (about 40 hours);
  2. More character customization (appearance, skills, dialogue options);
  3. More action-like choices (not just selecting a dialogue option, but walking/giving a quest item/attacking);
  4. More non-magical action in general (Thousand Cuts look awesome, teleporting rogues don't go along with the DA lore);
  5. No RNG;
  6. More realistic-looking weapon (except for staves);
  7. More unique boss battles;
  8. Better PC controls;
  9. Better parkour.

Though, I'm going to pre-purchase DA4 anyway.

For 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is the best example. You can choose protagonist's height, weight, class, etc. and game's mechanics reflects it (taller characters have larger hitboxes, heavy ones can carry more). Choices include actions (to prevent character A from killing character B or to stand and watch, to attack a dragon or to run from it). It could be implemented as dialogues and cut-scenes, but it would be less fun. Ability to climb large monsters in order to hit its weak point is great.

Also DD:DA has one of the best controls I've ever seen (hard to explain, basically, there are light/heavy attack and secondary weapon on mouse, skills are used with combination of keys pressed).

Boss battle example (the party attracts the boss, decreases its mobility, then kills it, using specific elemental vulnerability).

The make-or-break as to whether I actually buy Dragon Age 4 will be whether it has a coherent story. Dragon Age II was horribly contrived and relied too heavily on handing people the Idiot Ball to advance the plot. Dragon Age Inquisition hardly did better in this regard. The entire plot with the Wardens made very little sense. There were too many contrived cameos (e.g. Connor's appearance in future Redcliffe). Red Lyrium did whatever the plot felt it should do, regardless of established lore. Allowing non-human protagonists (especially Qunari ones) made very little sense as there should not have been the same trust placed in a non-human Herald. Heck, none of the game would have happened if the villain had been competent enough to set up his evil ritual where the protagonist couldn't simply stumble into it.

The one caveat to the above is that I would instantly pre-order the game upon learning that it had a silent protagonist without waiting to see if the story is coherent.

It'd also be nice to have some backstory to the protagonist. Dragon Age II did nicely in this regard, but the Dragon Age Origins approach worked well as well if such a deep and integrated backstory can't be incorporated while also having multiple backgrounds, which is an essential component.

One last thing: please make the PC version something beyond just a cheap console port. The DAI tactical camera was weaksauce compared to the one in DAO and the interface was clunky.

Longer main story and offical modding tools. :)

And of course better PC-oriented interface with search option etc.
