More spells for certain - DA:I was pretty lacklustre as a mage (although mage is not my preferred class I do tend to try it eventually).

Also, either committing to 3rd-person action combat or bringing back tactical combat. Gameplay is Inquisition's weakpoint. It's not bad, but it's worse as an actiony game than The Witcher or Skyrim (Skyrim is worse than The Witcher in terms of action, but not much and has many other ways to play, particularly excels at stealthy play). If that sort of gameplay isn't going to be improved, then bringing back tactical combat is an absolute must - that means positioning needs to really matter and the tactical camera has to actually work. DA: O absolutely nailed tactical combat - although that could have been improved by expanding the party size to 5 or 6 (5 seems ideal, but 6 would allow 1 PC, 4 tactical selections and 1 NPC you like that doesn't help your party, eg: Varric the Useless).

Things I miss from Dragon Age: Origins (there's nothing I miss from DA2, I didn't hate the game, but everything it did well is done better in DA:I):

 * Tactical Combat - DA:O was obviously the highlight of the series in terms of gameplay, returning to this would be fantastic

 * Origins - The origin stories were an absolute masterstroke (except the Dalish one, which was kinda meh) and well worth whatever effort was required. The city Elf and dwarf origins in particular were absolutely brilliant. They gave our characters a real place in the world and made them *our* characters - The Inquisitor is The Inquisitor, my cannon Hero of Fereldan is Althaz Tabris of Denerim. Part of this attachment is the unvoiced PC, but I don't think I'd want to go back to that now.

 * Humour - the DA:O characters were just funnier than anything in the other two titles - Alistair the obvious highlight, but also Sten, Zevran, Shale and even Oghren. In DA: I we have Dorian - Sera can be entertaining (she's my favourite DA: I character), same with Varric and Iron Bull, but none of those three are laugh-out-loud funny too often. Didn't really notice it on my first playthrough, but later playthroughs it's clear the difference.

Lowlights/Annoyances from DA:I (these are mostly minor, DA:I is one of my favourite games):

 * Assassin's Creed syndrome - there's too many collectibles. Collectibles are boring and just clutter up my map. Some collectibles that lead to cool areas or quests would be cool for some, but DA:I went way overboard

 * Combat - It was't awful...but cookie-cutter enemies were a too bullet-spongey - especially in the later game (named/boss characters were mostly fine to excellent), spells were totally brainless - spam everything when cooldown ends and stamina can be had, tactical positioning receives a score of Not Applicable...game wasn't bad to play, but combat was worse than everything else

 * 8 slots for abilities - seriously, how this hasn't been fixed is f***ing beyond me, it's a glaring issue and does nothing but make the game worse as you level up more. Considering how incredible games like NWN (Bioware's version) at giving us a customizable interface with more buttons that one could poke a stick at, this was a total failure in that regard.

Highlights from DA:I (that were better than other DA games):

 * Exploration - Don't really need to say much, this game was incredibly beautiful and discovering not only the geography but the history as well was pretty awesome

 * Archery - by far this was the best Bioware game since BG (the first one) to play an archer. It was awesome

 * Graphics - this was one of the most beautiful games I've ever played - particularly the outdoor environments which were spectacular

 * Skyhold - Skyhold was an awesome base that made sense for the game, the War Table was also really fun and greatly added to the game

 * Voice Acting - This was probably the best overall voice-acted game ever made (helped by excellent writing) - kudos to writers, directors and actors all

 * Writing - probably this game had the best writing of any game I've ever played. That's a big call and it wasn't *all* stellar...but it was all at least *good* and mostly excellent or better. This is Bioware's stock-in-trade, so it's not overly surprising how well they nailed it.

 * Crafting - Did DA2 have crafting? I honestly can't remember, but the crafting in DA:I was a high-point for me, very well done...but probably there was slightly too much variety - even though that sounds like a crazy thing to say :).

Alot of ideas on this thread are great!

What I'd really want is with the way DA:Keep identifies the Inquisitor by class specialization, I am really hoping the he/she becomes your companion in the next game. Also have the Inquistitor romancable if he/she didn't seek any during DA:I

For me it's:

- getting to play as the hero of ferelden again.

-Revealing what's up with Sandal.( he prophesized DAI and although he didn't make an appearance in the trespassers DLC you can find his journal in the crossovers which makes him more of a mystery on how he always survives encounters with darkspawn, prophesied DAI and how he got to the crossroads.

- A better companionship relations. Make us immersed that we cared for them with thought out and unique interactions with them like DAO did and Mass effect with their citadel DLC. DAI felt a bit linear especially with the romance.

-Tie up lose ends and end the series. Not that I hate DA but it has to end eventually before it just feels dragged on. I mean maybe they can make another game considering there is so many lose ends with the hero of ferelden and all that has happened in DAI (Guess the whole hawke at wheissup or whatever and not hearing from him  ended up being nothing) but it's gotta end since you can tell they are changing things and contradictions are happening which is bad for the game.

-Bring back the tactics option from DAO. This lazy companions tactic suck. Only being able to pick whether your companion does this move more frequent sucks.

-Stick with their 3 DLC plan they usually do for these games that feel like expansion like trespassers was. The one before trespasser was too short and no story. please don't make DLC like that anymore. If you want to leave us in a cliffhanger that's fine but do it more interestingly and less boring. It was pretty much, 'we're getting closer to tremors' fight darkspawn, rinse and repeat till you get to the end.

-No new protagonist. It's going to blow up in Biowares face with the way they are going. Everyone is getting attached to one or the other of the protagonist and eventually one will take the spotlight while the others are left in the dust with fans being upset and rightfully so. Mass effect was great because you were shepard througout the trilogy so the closure between companions was felt throughout the journey to end the reapers. DA has no closure just some nice interactions but then the next game comes and a new set of companions are made and you have to start all over again with new protagonist. It seems they made it so now the inquisitor will act like a behind the scene general giving orders so it might be safe to say he won't be playable in the next DA game so hopefully they pick between HoF or Hawke or heck why not both telling two stories and connecting them together at the end.

What I want:

A Ship: Tevinter is great but some parts like Seheron are away on the sea, we have never had the chance to explore more the Seas on Thedas, we know little to nothing of the creatures down there, if our new base is a ship, we could see marine monsters, have naval fights with the Qunari and other cool things, also, it would feel like ME2, do not tell me you didn't love that game.

Big Companion(s): We've got an Ogre on the Darkspawn Chronicles, I don't see any problem with a big creature as a companion, of course, it likely would not be an Ogre unless is under Architect's command, but we still could get a Saarath, a Wyvern, a Bear, a Rock Wraith or if it's permitted even a Giant or a Dragon, I'm so hurt because Guardian of Mythal died and Ataashi ran away.

Tactical Battles: Warden and Inquisitor were military leaders but they actually never leaded any onslaught, what if we have the chance to organize our troops and depending on our strategy we can win or lose a battle, that also could have impact in the end depending how many battles we won.

Companions: The north has a lot of variety, what I want to see is: a Qunari Grey Warden, a Fog Warrior, a Nevarran Dragon Hunter, a rebel slave leader, the disciple of a high ranked Magister, a Saarebas, as returning character, we need a dwarf, Harding, Sigurn, perhaps even Renn or Valta? also, we need a smarty, Solas is mad and Abelas likely would side with him, so definitely Yavana has to play that role, she knows of Dragons and she knows the Veil was not always there, she also kicked back the Qunari invasion, her knowledge and her power have to be handy against Solas.

Sandal: He is funny and he kills shocking amounts of Darkspawn and Demons without any effort, his runes also had more variety and uses than Dagna's, and Solas won't be able to stand an Enchantment! .

I didn't say perfect but it would help if they didn't look like a man or act like Disney princess.

So like I said you want them to read your mind and make you a perfect girl to romance, shut up please.

Your not always gonna have great option to some ppl Cassandra was a great choice or Josi and to other they weren't oh well kinda the point of it all.

DA2 definitely did Tatics menu better than DA:O

I agree with most of your points tho. Mages did feel a bit lack luster didn't give me the feeling of OMG I HAVE A MAGE YALL ABOUT TO GET FUCKED UP.

There was mainly no strategic reasoning put into the game. No reason to really use spells such as ice wall. Just about no environment interaction wats so ever.

I definitely agree with archery it was amazing allowing them to move while firing felt more fluid and natural. I wish they would have stuck with that Idea for mages as well. It allowed for better repositioning while in combat and felt seemed more fluid for the Mage as well.

I also wish they would have keep the charge to the Barrage spell a power spell some times has a weakness and you being rooted in place while OT charges was the price you pay for a power spell.

As for the tactical view or third person. When you look back at the Alpha I would have enjoyed that perspective so much more than what we have now. And then have them focus on the camera to better serve the tactical community. Because that perspective give us more actions with immersing ourselves in the world and the fight but the cam allows us to get a better view of things and plan things out. So I don't believe we always need to see everything from the egale eye.

What I would like to see from DA4, and I am aware some may not be possible and some may be unpopular.

Setting: tevinter.

Play as a new protag who is working for the inquisitor. The inq may have said they want to help save Solas, or kill him. Perhaps if we can confront him our protag can either agree with the inquisitor or disobey them and do the opposite - but either way the inquisitor should be present when and if the Solas confrontation happens.
I'd like to see Fenris again, running around hunting mages who abuse their slaves - would be great if he could become a companion. I'd love for hawke to be a companion too, even better if she had romanced fenris (aware hawke is dead for some people).
Dorian to play a part for sure, some sort of political power.

bring back old tactic settings.

I'm hoping the main character is completely unknown to the Inquisition/Inquisitor, as it would fit in with the "We need people who Solas doesn't know.", as well as alienating them from the Inquisitor him/her self.. If Dorian appears, we could learn about the Inquisition from him;

"You know -New character's name-, you remind me of something I was once part of...someone I once knew."

He obviously wouldn't mention this to the Inquisitor/Inquisition, and our character would probably not think too much of it, but it would set up the inevitability of their paths crossing, and then continuing together to Solas.

But another day, another post in what I want from DA4 :P!

Just give me this.

The camp fire, the tents, the companions. How after each event I would always head back to Camp, at first to interact with everyone in a rush to go back out, but then later soak it all in and take my time. That in a current gen only frostbite engine game would be bliss.

Quizzy
Tactic and tac cam like in origin.
Bosses have less "health to hack away at for an eternity", and instead more abilities to ruin your day. Those tree looking demons were a pain in the beginning on nightmare, i liked that.
More hair options.
Tevinter.
Less collectibles, more side quests.
More consequences.
Keep the health potion/ barrier thing as in Inquisition.
Etc...

- Closure for Solas and Lavellan

- Playing as the Inquisitor again or being able to switch between PC like in The Witcher 3 where you get to play as Ciri or Geralt. Switching between the Inquisitor and the new PC can be an option, although I would rather play only as the Inquisitor because I got attached by my Quizzy and her story and it's really hard to let go.

Why would u want a story that's split up like that. I don't think it would ever really work in the slightest we don't really have a story like that.

An it's not a option lol kinda have to do it.

Because this way Bioware will give player a choice to play as the Inquisitor or new PC. I didn't say I would like that, but this way will satisfy both types of players, the ones who want new PC and the others that want to play as the Quizzy. I, for example, would like the play as the Inquisitor, and if possible, without switching.

I don't actually want to be the Inquisitor again, but I like the idea of a "split" game. I think it'd be interesting if you had the option to start off as either Tevinter-allied or Qunari-allied (or whatever), and that's your origin/background, and that changes portions of the game. Like a large-scale version of siding with the Templars/mages in DAI.

Kind of reminds me of VTMB, where your loyalties are shaped during the game and people actually remark on it and call you out if you're playing both sides against each other and whatnot.

1. Bring back tactics

2. Get rid of 8 ability limit

3. Either expand skill trees again to something approaching the way they were in DA2 or expand the number of classes

4. Main story needs to be given a greater focus if they want to continue with open world plus better zone stories for every zone

5. Get rid of mmoish RNG in rewards it has no place in a single player game.

6. If you want to bring in strategic aspects ie the acquisition of power points, actually make them strategic
