- Better mage spells/trees
- Interesting mage/battlemage combat
- Blood magic
- Race choice affecting gameplay in a meaningful way
- Good looking armor
- A focus on story
- Meaningful choices
- The option to exterminate elves
- No deserts
- Interesting companions

Definitely need more spells and more schools

I would have loved for them to keep the auto attacks they had before where the autos come from their hands and then would have loved for them to add close combat to the staffs and the damage increases if you add a blade on to the staff.

Blood magic for sure but only if it's noticed that I'm using it .

Agreed with meaningful race choices

Armor for sure. My mage needs more freaking flowing robes like WTF

I believe they can make a great story they just need to incorporate more of the world into the story and build more stories for the world and side quest with meaningful stories of their own

Um don't think you'd ever be able to exterminate the elves

Why no deserts wtf

Um Vivienne was amazing.

More hot keys for spells. Playing a mage for the first time, I'm limited to by what spells I can use because there aren't enough hot keys.

I prefer

seeing "what's gonna happen next" rather than "what is new" in DA4

not giving up easily what has already existed in the previous episodes (not even sure whether it is justified to call them the episodes given their tiny relevance to each other)

And time needed for development could be shorter so that we don't need a long slumber for it

A new graphic engine isn't that necessary because most hardwares nowadays still unable to run its maximum potential smoothly

Ok like could we say everything again just not in elvish or elvan or what ever language your speaking

How do you expect to get flashy things when they don't use magic lol. So I wouldn't agree with pentagrams and mess in the air with archers lol. They aren't mages so their abilities shouldn't really look to magical.

Now maybe more like cooler ways they use the bow maybe some close combat skills with the bow. Or things like the back flip abilities sure.

Magic bows means magic. And even now archers' abilities do look magical. But animation is around an enemy, who is standing 5 km away, so effects are not really visible.

Or things like the back flip abilities sure.

Oh no, no more gymnastics please. At least not for dwarfs. I'm always shocked when I see my dwarf doing 3 meter jumps. Though it is a very usefull skill, yes.

I will probably buy and love the next Dragon Age no matter what they decide to do with it, just as I have with the previous three, but I'm gonna write down my gripes with the latest game anyway.

1, The first one is the combat. I sometimes despise the combat. There I said it. Now, this is probably just my own preferences, and I am fully aware that Bioware is looking for a different gameplay style... but the combat in the Witcher 3 feel far more fluid, fast-paced and entertaining to me than anything in Dragon Age: Inquisition, mainly because I don't like the combat of traditional RPG's of like Neverwinter but enjoy's the combat of Action-RPG's like W3. DA:I mixture doesn't do it for me, and feels half-baked. IN the end I was just sitting there, repeatedly activating the same abilities over and over again while fighting a not-so-dangerous opponent whose health simply didn't go down very fast. IN the end I changed my difficulty setting all the way down to Easy to shorten the tedium.

Adding to that: the sense of danger. The enemies in The Witcher 3 deal more damage and take less than in DA:I. In DA it felt as if mu Inquisitorwas never in any danger no matter what opponent he was up gainst - and despite that it took ages to finish a single battle, and in the end I was merely sitting and repeating the same movements over and over while whittling down the enemy's HP. Simply put, I'd very much like for the enemies in the next Dragon Age to deal more damage to my character while taking less. Also, by giving the enemies lower health and higher damage, the combat would hopefully become faster and more explosive, with each hit and use of an ability or spell becoming more important. I despise that one can simply sit and repeatedly use the same spells or abilities repeatedly. WHat happened to the feel that each use of an ability mattered.

Reduce the amount of Dragons, Pride Demons, Giants and other extremly powerful monsters. With each apperance these enemies lose their wonder and they become a chore, rather than a threathening menace which towers over my party. In fact, decreasing the number of fights against weaker opponents might be preferable to me as well - nothing wrong with being allowed a breather now and again while soaking in the enviroment. Similarily, reduce the flashiness of the abilites. Spells can of course be a bit more colorful, but I'd prefer if the warriors' and rouges' abilities were more mundane in apperance, akin to Origins (but faster of course... always faster than Origins). Take Mass Effect as an example: biotics are noticable in apperance, but the abilities of regular soldiers are more mundane. This, combined with less use of each ability in fights (due to shorter more explosive fights), would probably give each use on ability more impact. The again Bioware apparently have their own vision of what good combat is about, so I don't expect this to change.

2, Do not focuson the Generic Doomsday villain. NOw don't get me wrong. I like Corypheus and though he was quite well-written and fitting as a villain... but rather than having him being the open focus of a rather White and Black struggle where everyone fights him, I wouldve prefered if the more Grey struggle between Templars and Mages or Celene and Gaspard took precedence with Corepheus operating more in the background. As it was, these incredibly important conflicts were uickly swept under the rug, and we were given incredibly little time to fully explore the dilemma between them. INstead they were only a means to enhance Corypheus, rather than being important issues in themselves. The fact that both wars are bogged down into stalemates even before the Breach was a great disappointement to me, since i'd looked forward to them both since DA2, as well as Asunder and the Masked Empire. I'm still going to give kudos to Bioware for giving me a good story - I just think it was a massively wasted opportunity that could've turned the game into an even better one. As it was, only the Hinterland gave the Inquisitor a look into the very real human struggle in a world torn apart by war and forsaken by the gods. In the end I feel that good stories are  not about the machinations of would-be-gods, but about about the human hearts affected by it all.

That's why I wish for the next game to really take the Qunari - Tevinter issue seriously (if the hints from Trespasser is correct), rather turning it into offscreen drama for another conflcits, let Bioware show us the complexity of a war between two powerful and quite misliked nations. Also, I'd prefer for the issues with Solas to wait until the fifth game - I don't mind the issue being brought up, but I'd prefer if something so important had more build-up.

7. PLEASE EXPLAIN WHATS FLASHY? MAGIC?

OK I get like some of the rouge abilities and such. And warrior stuff I get it. Swinging a sword shouldn't have a colored streak coming from it. And such but please explain to me what you really believe is to flashy because I keep seeing this a lot

I meant this,

11053302_10207556189884550_2778593455202

Or this,

12004110_10207556188324511_4391367989203

And there are others where the amount of fx during battles are way more flashy than the examples I gave you (add smoke, intense fog, more sparklings all together). Isn't that a bit toooooooooooo flashy?

Wot i would like to see in Dragon Age 4...

They really have to fix the hair. I don't just mean more styles or better looking hair, because that's subjective to the individual, but hair that doesn't clip through every bit of armor. Seriously, the new armor in Trespasser just stuck through the hair on my Inquisitor, looks god awful and it wasn't the only one. So yeah, better hair tech that doesn't clash with armor *thumbs up*.

Varric Tethras.

9 followers was a lot, i liked them all though, but then also having the advisers in addition. Maybe scale back the followers you can take with you to maybe 6 or 7, and then have other adviser type characters you can still interact with and whom have their own stories and perhaps they do come with you on the odd mission like Leliana does.

Varric Tethras.

I quite liked the design of the zones in Inquisition, but wasn't overwhelmed, i think the zones needed a more coherent story, or the zones tied to the story more than in inquisition, because story stuff just kinda happened in the zones they were tightly linked. If that means reducing them in size and making them a bit more linear. I dunno what other people thought but the dungeon crawl in the descent was awesome, it felt like i was on a real mission to do something, forging on ahead bit by bit, yeah the end of that DLC sucked but the zone was sweet.

Varric Tethras.

A main character that has proper connections to the world which we can experience and see, like a family. Dragon Age 2 was awesome for that, the Hawke family really made the main character feel more real. I loved my Trevelyan Inquisitor, but i think i would have loved them even more if i could have had time with their family, their brothers and sisters got involved and what not, would have been nice is all i'm saying.

Varric Tethras.

Griffons. If we are headed northbound, i think we should go to Wiesshaupt and there should be Griffons.

The start of the 6th blight, and i think this should spill over into the next game. Forget the veil being destroyed and the magic coming back and it all being as it was before, we'll sort Egg out, the Qunari will invade properly, and as they do **** hits the fan big style with an Arch Demon arriving, and people are all like "ohhhh ****" Then the next 2 games after that are about dealing with the Blight, a proper blight like in the books and in the stories, because frankly the 5th Blight was a ***** compared the first 4. I mean come on the 4th blight wiped out the Griffons and lasted 12 years, the fifth lasted a year and wiped out a marsh to the south and a town... I wan't to be fighting against insurmountable odds and i want to see the effects that a long war with the Darkspawn will have on Thedas and the different races, like would the Qunari properly ally themselves with the rest of Thedas if they were being besieged by Darkspawn and an Arch Demon? Would be cool to find out.

Varric Tethras riding a Griffon.

Edit.

Also better fights, redesigned combat around shorter more intense fights maybe, i dunno combat in inquisition didn't feel tactical at all for me. I think more combat encounters should be properly designed, like the cool one in the Descent DLC, y'all know the one, started off in the fire room with Shrieks and ended with the Emissary Alpha, lasted light an hour lol, it was awesome but could have been made better with enemies that didn't take sixteen years to kill. Now i'm not saying all fights should be like that, just more finesse when designing encounters. My point here is that small fights tended to take too long and i was never in any danger, my warrior inquisitor was invincible simply because of how the guard mechanic worked, maybe that was the rout of the issue?

So. Bioware. Take a good long look at Witcher 3. That's the kind of quality you want in DA4. The storytelling, the script, the set-building. This is stuff you need to look long and hard at. Because while I love DA: I, Witcher 3 was a couple steps above in the quality of the game(also, all the free DLC was a nice boon).

That being said, here's some things I'll point out that I think the next game needs.

* Either make a new character or continue with the Inquisitor and make his left arm being his special 'thing', whatever that 'thing' may be. Even if it's as something as cheesy as Ashe's mechanical arm from Army of Darkness.

* If not a new character or the Inquisitor, bring back the Warden. I want to know what has become of the Warden. What he's doing, what his goals are since he obviously has an agenda of his/her own.

* I loved DA:I's combat. And while I thought that DA:O's combat was too boring for my taste(I'm just not that into tactical combat #sorrynotsorry), the options for tactics in DA:I was lacking. For all of the complaint that DA2 was too button-mashy, it did give a lot of options for tactics, which I liked. I liked being able to program my companions tactics while still being able to beat away at an enemy. Which is why I think if DA:I had the combat it already had, while having the tactical options of DA:O or DA2, it would've been worlds better. But again, not options for those of us that just want to kill things.

* Make Solas the villain. I know that this seems like a forgone conclusion considering Trespasser, but this needs to be a thing. Former companion turned bad guy(even if it's more anti-hero than anything else)? I've been waiting for that in a Bioware game in years.

* Get your **** with the Dwarves sorted out. Considering Descent, there's a lot of 'wtf' going on and things were possibly not as well thought out at first. The intention is interesting, but this is slowly turning into a 'too many cooks in the kitchen' sort of situation. It's going to have to tie up sooner or later, or you're going to suffer the Christ Carter Effect(go watch the last two seasons of X-Files and you'll understand what I mean).

* Bring back Sandal. I still maintain that he's the Maker in a human guise.

* Bring it all together. Since I'm fresh off Trespasser, right now, I don't know if there should be a DA5. I feel like DA4 should wrap up this entire storyline, and it really does feel like it's building towards...well, /something/. I feel like every single plot thread that's been left lingering in the last three games should be all tied up and everyone(and I do mean /everyone/, covering companions and major players from the last three games)get their proper ending(based on whatever decisions you've made).

* Please don't start catering to fan service shipping. You've avoided this so far in DA, while ME was sorta cringy in it. I'm glad DA:I was not the relationship simulator that ME sorta was(and I say even though I like ME over DA).

* Keep the gold glitch in. Seriously, this has started to become a staple of DA games. There's always been something that's kinda been regarded as a gold dupe or gold glitch. I think it's a trend that Bioware should keep going. Almost like it's an inside joke at this point.

* Get rid of resource mining. I have wasted far too much time scouring for resources(especially after the resource dupe was fixed). It's not fun, it's grinding, it's time-consuming, and it's just a way to extend the game's length more than what it needs to be. Now, I do like crafting, but just let us buy straight out or simply gain the resource itself allowing us to make whatever once we've earned, either via level progress, story progress, quest reward, or gold purchase. But don't make us look around for those three pieces of silverite I need to make a damn sword. Or, if you want, just go back to DA:O's material quality. THe more you level up, you find better quality items. That worked well, for me anyways.

* Let us be a dick. No, really, in past DA games you could be just the biggest jerk in the world. You could drive companions away, hell, you could even kill them if you felt you needed to. None of that in DA:I. If that means some kind of Paragon/Renegade scale, whatever. Or Friend/Rival.

* Not so many filler quests. Seriously, how many quests were there in the Hinterlands, alone? A lot, far too many to count, and eventually, I just stopped caring, because they really didn't mean ****. Or if you're going to do, and I'm going to point to Witcher 3 here again, give it's own story. Make it relevant. Many, or a lot of the quests there, a lot of them felt like they were important. Hell, many of them could make you /care/ about actually doing it, instead of just looking at it like just another box to check off.

* Let us kill Anders if you let him live in DA2. I may be the sadistic type, but I'd want Anders to see exactly what he did, the results of his actions before I killed him(that's sorta why I let him live). Or magically tore Justice from him and /then/ killed him. Either/or, I'm not picky.

* Skyhold. Keep it., but maybe give a bit more in customization options.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more if I sat down and thought about it.

tl;dr - Not all open world games have to tell their story in such a disjointed manner like a Bethesda title. Honestly, The Witcher 3 proved pretty damn well that it's entirely possible to have game with a huge open world that feels alive, is packed full of little details, and still boasts a perfectly coherent narrative that tells a naturally-flowing story.

I'd like for optional content to feel somewhat more relevant. There is a ton of side content in DA:I, but virtually none of it feels natural.

In DA:O, for example, there's a good chunk of side quests as well (not as much side content, mind you, but a lot of it felt more engaging to me - maybe the way non-cinematic dialogue is handled in DA:I is the culprit?) but it's all very well integrated into the main story. In every area you went to, you could just rush through the main story and move on to the next part, but you would have to actively neglect side content.

In DA:I, you absolutely have to go out of your way to take care of side content. All of those massive, beautiful areas you can go out and explore? The main story never takes you to them. Sure, you might deal with Venatori and Red Templars while you're in those areas, but it's never really part of the grand scheme.

Essentially, in DA:I the main quests are all isolated events. They occur entirely in areas that you visit once, then can never return to. I'm all for having areas that are a one-time deal, those moments can help to fill a game with a sense of urgency - it'd be silly be able to go waltzing back into the Fade from the segment at Adamant Keep whenever you want, for example. But the main quests need to tie into the rest of the game in a more meaningful way. Otherwise it hurts the pacing of the game. You want to progress the story? Okay, walk up to the war table and select the mission!

I've had plenty of fun with this game, but I won't pretend it isn't loaded with issues in terms of writing and pacing. I, at least, certainly don't think it tells the story very well. You jump from one major event to the next, filling in the gaps by doing unrelated gruntwork until you've accrued enough Power to move onto another major event.

Edit: I don't know how I could forget, but a better protagonist would be nice. The Inquisitor at its core, as a concept, was fine. The execution I felt was lacking. I never got a feel for my own character throughout the game - even less so than my silent Hero of Fereldan! I doubt it's completely due to the voice actor I chose being incapable at conveying the appropriate emotion - or any emotion other than dumbfoundedness.

Additionally, please hire better 3D artists. The character models and animations left me cringing. Worse still, the walking and idle animation of a female character looks fine (unless you're wearing heavy armour, but that's another issue altogether)... until you're in a cutscene!? Of all places, it's in cutscenes where your character suddenly slouches and starts to walk like an orangutan. I expect mediocre models and poor animations from BioWare, but I shouldn't have to expect them.

Wait what your just now playing a mage?

Why, yes. I prefer rogues and decided to try something different in this game play. Have to say the mage is quite the joy to play compared to the rogue.

I agree with a lot of what has already been said.  I liked the open world, but would like it to be populated with more meaningful side-story content, rather than just side-collecting (though I don't mind a bit of collection and puzzle-solving, too).  I'd also like more companion interaction in general - that is, the companions interacting with each other.  The banter in this game was good, but one of my favorite scenes was the game of team-wide Wicked Grace that you play as part of Varric's story.  It reminded me very strongly of some of the better parts of Citadel from Mass Effect.  Interacting with companions is fun, but watching them interact with each other is priceless.

One final thing, and it's pretty minor, but I missed it a lot in DA:I.  I really enjoyed the lore of magic in Origins, as it is categorized by the Circle - the schools, the cosmology (elemental vs. spirit, creation vs. entropy), the different effects.  Even though they modified and added to that in DA2, they still kept some semblance of the schools of magic in DA2.  With Inquisition, though, all of the mages were basically elementalists, with a bit of Creation and Spirit thrown in there.  I hope future games restore more diversity to mage spells, but also organize the spells into trees and advanced classes that make more sense from a lore perspective.

1. Dorian Pavus

2. Lace Harding

3. More build variety within classes. Specifically, I want more skill trees for pre-specialization mages (DA2 was a good balance of quality and quantity, IMO), and more weapon types for warriors (including a ranged option because my warriors should not be completely useless when chasing down a ram or a nug).

4. Bosses that are more interesting and less tedious.

5. More organic loot, and fewer awesome things players can't access. DAI had this in some respects- like different enemies dropping specific types of cloth or leather. I want this to include armor and weapons and accessories. If I kill a Venatori, I want a chance at looting their armor or their weapon.

6. Better eyebrows and hair. There will be plenty of time to perfect the Art of Frostbite hair by then, so I expect better and more.

You better believe I logged in for this topic.

- I want an actual tactics/behaviors option. (da:o)

- Better/more options in the skill trees.  (I liked the crazy amount of skills to pick from in da:O) :P

- Allowed to use more than 8 abilities.

- I want to spend my own attribute points.

- Less open/empty world and more story/character interaction.

- Tactical camera that operates like the first two games.

- If you have to keep race selection then give them differing stories like in da:o.  In this game I felt they were just so bland.

- Better hairstyles/more options.

*****More Thom Rainier.

- Class specific armor drops.

That's all I can think of for now ;)

As fare as game scale goes, as long as the game is on the same scale as Inquisition, then Im perfectly fine with how big the game is B) .

Originally, I was one of the many voices who complained about the cookie cutter romances in DA2, Everyone was Bi (except Sebastian the Chased of course) so you could romance who ever you wanted, no harm no foul. I argued that this took realism away from the companions. NOW, after seeing a lot of the back lash that this rounds of relationships has caused, I actually gotta say, maybe a full Bi cast wasnt such a bad idea? If the option is there to romance who ever you want to regardless, then no one can cry foul right :D ? I mean Im sure some will, there are those that try very hard to be upset about everything, but its an idea anyway <_< .

With out a doubt I would love to find out what ultimately happens with the Hero of Fereldens quest, i.e.  *Spoilers, Spoilers*  if you played a Hero that lived and has some romantic ties to speak of like maybe Alistair (still a warden and not king) you find out the Hero is on a quest to cure the Calling, Blight Sickness, Taint, whatever. Initially Im the type that I would have been okay if my warden was never spoken of again, or if my Hawke had just walked of into the sunset with Fenris (dont judge  ), BUT since the game TOLD ME they are on a quest   lol, now Im very curious to see were that goes, if anywhere. Im cool with never playing the Warden again, but now im actually interested in were that story arc leads.

I would very much like to see Blood Magic return as a specialization B) .

I think combat this time around was "Lightning in a Bottle", whats the term, "If its not broke ....." The combat has of course changed a great deal from Origins, just as it has from DA2, but it really feels like with the Frostbite engine, the current art style, the way combat flows and magic is used, it feels like the basis of on going games could really be somewhat set. Im not saying dont improve, if there is an opportunity, all Im saying is this, if you play Elderscrolls, you kinda of have an idea of how the game mechanics are going to work, far as combat, same with Mass Effect, Dark Souls etc etc. I really feel the current set up is should be the nitch for future games :P .

I really like the idea of were Trespasser left us, as far as what Solas had to say. Its hard to hate him, but at the same time its easy to see how a power would have to rise to stop what hes talking about, trying to be some what vague in case any one reading has not yet played the amazing Final to the Inquisition ... if you havent stop reading now and go do it ... seriously your wasting time

Oh, and I saw someone else say this but Ill gladly second, third, fourth or firth it, Friendship/Rivalry system needs to return. Probably one of my favorite things in DA2 was that the story arc, or at least the dialogue could drastically change based on that, and it really made more since then "I hate you, Im leaving", when you have major events, or world changing, catastrophic, Armageddon type ..... stuff, going on, you may band together with people you hate, if its still the best bet for survival.

Last but NOT LEAST, I want Sandal back, I miss Sandal  :(

So yeah, there is my wish list and minor thoughts for DA4 or what I like to call the Solas Effect ...... dont judge

we urgently need better villain madam. Sollas is more like a wild card type then a villain, why not let the player decided for next villain?  Bioware can  make expansion like awakening,  but player play as antagonize rise to power, maybe like architect or some good knight turn into darkspawn over lord or player can decide the motive. why we must always save thedas if we can destroy it?

Having the ability to do an evil or very ruthless playthrough. Having all or at least most companions dead

lol as a (semi professional I suppose) role player, I have characters that all over the alignment chart. I did something similar to this in origins. Played a Human Warden, Killed Zev after ambush, Killed, Wynn in the Circle Tower, Lelliana in Temple of Sacred Ashes, Shale in Anvil fight, Left Sten in Lothering for the Spawn, killed Conner myself, killed dog in the camp at the beginning, let Red Cliff burn, sided with Werewolves, didnt take Dark Ritual and Alistair die killing the Archdemon, then walked off into the sunset.

Very interesting play threw lol  :P

Also... Patrick Weekes said there would be closure for Solas' story IF they do another game. I'd like him to deliver on that, plskthnx. Also... no more Varric. I like him, and all. But I need a new 'familiar' face. Dorian will work. Scout Harding, too. Hell, I'll even take Sera.

Magic bows means magic. And even now archers' abilities do look magical. But animation is around an enemy, who is standing 5 km away, so effects are not really visible.

Oh no, no more gymnastics please. At least not for dwarfs. I'm always shocked when I see my dwarf doing 3 meter jumps. Though it is a very usefull skill, yes.

Yet archers are not mages so they shouldn't be able to do anything super flashy.

And your surprised a dwarf can do a back flip yet you want a dwarf a race cut off from the fade and magic to make or pentagrams in the air and have flashy bow attacks u make no sense

And there are others where the amount of fx during battles are way more flashy than the examples I gave you (add smoke, intense fog, more sparklings all together). Isn't that a bit toooooooooooo flashy?

The first one shows me nothing but a blue pride demon.

And the second on no. ITS MAGIC WHAT DO U EXPECT LIKE ITS FREAKING MAGIC.

They make huge balls of fire, they make blizzards they freeze people, they cause meteor showers

Have u see what Firestorm use to look like? It was beautiful and if you call that flash like I just don't get you.
