Definitely tactics, I enjoyed setting the tactics for everyone in Origins but didn't really bother with it that much in DA2 to be honest.

After reading through page 7 I'd like to add 2 things to my previous list and agree with fearsome1 and ohnotherancor:

Dual wielding warrior and no save limit.  Thanks for the ideas you two :)

To me, it sounds like the most interesting nation. They're a culture of Dragon Hunters, this is Dragon Age. The Mortalitasi sound really cool and the Grand Necropolis sounds like an amazing place to explore. Just everything we've heard about it makes me really want to go there.

Maybe Dragon Age V :P

Ok I will give u the Grand Necropolis does sound amazing for sure. I can like imagine the mates there wear big awesome hats of sorts and awesome looking robes.

I will agree with ya it does sound like a awesome place. But I also want a better representation of Val like omg that tiny little poop bucket we got

But it was so much better in DA2 or at least better lol.

I really wish they would have keep the tactics menu from DA2 and put it in inquisition with the combos and stuff.

Love using stone fist after freezing someone.

I liked it fine in origin, but if they find a way to improve on it, I'm all for it.  So long as it makes a come back.  My favorite pts of that game were my 2 dual wielding warriors.  I miss them. *stares off into the distance*

Multiple backgrounds would be great - playable origins would be really fun.
Blood magic would be excellent.
Some machiavellian choices would be good.

If the next game let's us play a child of a magister with all the machiavellian politics, pro-Tevinter supremacy and dark forbidden magics that come with it I would be really happy. I've been dying to play that sort of character.

I definitely agree that we need to go back to a strategic approach but there still needs to be a action element in the game.

Personally I prefer a much more abstracted approach to combat. My ideal DA game would use a turn based combat system very similar to Divinity Original Sin - all tactics, no action. But that seems like an unrealistic expectation, so a solid RTwP system with decent tactics would suffice. What I absolutely don't want is what we got in DAI, which was action combat that bore more resemblance to Dynasty Warriors than DAO.

Some more banter like in DA:O and more frequent, giving presents to companions again too.

I do like this idea of playing the child of a magister.

What could be fun though is to play key events during the heir's childhood/teens that would define our character better. That would make a nice origin story.

And it could be made so that all race origins are from the same Tevinter House, but from different points of view: the human heir, the dwarven friend, the elf slave or the qunari trespasser/prisoner/slave...

I like that, a nice way of including all the racial possibilities.

EA not being involved would do wonders for the franchise. That goes for any franchise, really.

What would make DA4 a great experience...

(1) Decisions with more on-screen impact. Generally more responsiveness to your decisions and statements in the game itself.
(2) The darker atmosphere of DAO. No more systematic relegating of Thedas' everyday evils to off-screen. No more sanitizing.
(3) More freedom to develop your character, meaning mostly a less defined ideological background for your role than in DAI.
(4) Fewer companions, more story content for each of them. Small romance plots with non-companion NPCs if there aren't enough options.
(5) Companions that have a bigger presence in the main plot.
(6) A compelling antagonist (it seems that's covered)
(7) Integration of free exploration and story content. In DAI they were almost completely separate.
(8) A different balance of story content and free exploration. DAI had too much of one good thing and not enough of another.

This should cover the most important aspects. Generally, after several games that went into a direction I didn't like, DAI finally reversed that trend. That doesn't mean there is no room for improvement. This is where I'd like to see such improvement.

Edit:
I'd like to add an aesthetic preference: DAI's atmosphere, especially at Skyhold, was grand but too austere. This is perhaps fitting for the dominant theme and setting, but I'd really like a more elegant, even luxurious environment in the next game, also something where my character could wear an outfit like an Antaam-Sar (female version) and not feel out of place.

If u want turn based go play Dragon Age Hero's or Final Fantasy.

I don't believe turn base would fit at all. This is why I said make environments more based around more useable and strategic environments. This way we have have better combos and set ups.

And no more charge up timers on glyphs so u can leave them km the enemies path and not have them just walk over them.

And what? This felt nothing like dynasty warriors which is a hack an slash your really just saying mess now because your mad they stepped away from tactics

That's my point. DAI is a shallow hack and slash game with no depth. Just like Dynasty Warriors. All DAI needs is a combo counter and it will be indistinguishable from any similar game.

I want an origin scene definitely. I think DAI would have been greatly improved if we could have wandered about the conclave a little bit first.

Also, meaningful side quests. Ones with choices like Dagna and the kid in Redcliffe with the sword. Most of the side quests "choices" in DAI come down to did you or did you not do the fetch quest.

I want to be able to wear everything I see others wearing even my enemies, so I feel like I am from that part of Thedas. Not everything need to be upgradeable. I hope Bioware dragon age team keeps some of their assets to be carried over to DA 4. For example, clothing from multiplayer I would love to be able to wear what the Katari wears and even the ventori Spellbinders. Of course faction crest etc can be removed. I longed for the body of elves npc for my elf character even their clothing.

Oh if I must.
No open world
No HoF
No Quizzy
Separate stubble and beard.
Creation and Entropy and force field and stuff.

Spell combos (I once hit redcliffe with Storm of the Century. Was funny how everyone undied in DA:I, no? :P)
No healing just for the sake of it.
Tactics.
No returning characters (cameo's are ok I just mean party members)
Have Calpernia give queen anora her hair back.
Stop trying to be funny as you've clearly forgotten how to tell a joke without holding a big "this is a Funnytm" over it.
Mabari Puppy. Because they are...so pure. So innocent.
Let us be evil. No point in letting us have morals if there's only one moral you can be.
Let EVERYONE be evil and varied. Everyone felt one dimensional in this game and you could tell they were hit hard with the PC Battm

Edit: If I don't hear Mage Pride or In Uthenera I'm gonna scream. I just love female vocals and pulling back from "Super Epictm" or "Super Sadtm" would be good.
Edit Edit: I want Solas to win. It would be a nice set up for the next game, deal with the consequences of it ect ect. Could have it in like 2 parts. First is find everyone next is teach them. The fix the world or let it stay (it would theoretically be the same world, one would just have the fade the other everyone is a mage)
The first part could be easier for every pro templar choice the second could be easier for every pro mage choice. And there's some fabled consequences to boot.

  • A base of operations that actually has a purpose and upgrades that actually make a difference and influence the game. Skyhold was big wasted opportunity. Bioware could have done some much with it, such as a siege, etc.
  • More armor variation and schematics
  • A proper tactics system
  • Bring back the DA2 Qunari designs, they look way better than the ones in Inquisition
  • A longer main story with a lot of replay-ability. Inquisition's main story-line was short and was mostly limited to just 2 choices per decision.
  • Bring back Shapeshifting for mages and Dual-wielding for warriors

This, or no base at all. Only taverns and camps. Back to basics.

I've mentioned it in some other thread, but one of my favorite games these past few years has been Mount & Blade: Warband.

I liked the combat gameplay, but also how you were able to grow your own army by recruiting troops.

In DAI, I felt a bit disconnected from the organization. Cullen, Leliana and Josephine were the ones in charge. I never knew how many we were...

This may not have its place in a DA game though...

Still, I loved how, in that game, I was able to start out alone, with a few henchmen, and grow my troop to a sizable army able to conquer towns and castles.

Well, the upside of this method would be that the required amount of voice acting / cutscenes for the origin would be limited.

Let's say you have a Tevinter House with multiple characters about the same age (an Altus (human), his dwarf friend, who lives next-door, and several elf/human/qunari slaves/servants).

Dramatic events happen involving these characters, one of which would be the PC.

You could choose your gender and your class, of course, but then the other characters would be defaulted to a set template.

The default PC would of course be the House heir, and each character would have a set voice, gender and class.

You'd need to have at least 3 voice actors for each PC-able character, but only for the origin story.

In the rest of the game, people could only reference vaguely the events in your House, and only few dialogues would branch to reference your exact position in the House.

But selling fine dwarven crafts would be awesome. My previous proposition was that the next DA protagonist should be Sandal.

It would be a set race, set gender, but... EN-CHANT-MENT !
