I think people need to remember that if you kill her, you KILLED her. Show me any revival that was not done without spirits, blight or very strong magic (that is not gameplay)
This is the only plausible way to explain her revival.

Oghren? In DA:O if you reduce his approval enough you can fight and when he's defeated the dialogue is very clear "No, Oghren. I'm done with you. (Kill him)"
Then in Awakening he shows up, stating he woke up with a headache, naked, not remembering a thing and says "You tried to kill me! (Laughs) Nice try. Didn't stick"
His revival was via the writers nothing else.
That is just so...freaky.
Does seem weird that neither Cole nor Solas would notice, and that people who have known Leliana for a long time (such as Justinia) would be fooled.
Cole is able to not completely blow Solas' cover, and they interact far more on screen than Cole and Leliana do. I find it quite believable that they could know and simply keep it to themselves.
As for Justinia- the Justinia spirit in Here Lies the Abyss was convincing enough that Cassandra couldn't be certain it wasn't actually the Divine. Spirits seem like very capable mimics, and since they can read minds, they probably use the reactions of those around them to inform their "imitation" just as much as anything.
Personally, I love this ending. I always thought it was ridiculous people complained about her surviving being killed in a place that was obviously rife with magical weirdness- why bother playing these games if you can't get into magical things being magical?

Writing that deals with Oghren is generally bad period, and his revival makes no sense and does not fit the lore. Lelis does.

Oghren is a badass, that's why.
/End dicussion.
This is why I never kill Leliana. Tried it once to see that choice and was NOPE! Reload time. Not doing that.

That's why I'm okay with this explanation. She actually died. That's not nearly as stupid as simply retconning her back into existence or her having plot-armour.
Where are people getting "ghost" from? It sounds like she just happened to be sustained by lyrium. If anything she might be more akin to a red templar.
back in DA Origins, the mountain where the Sacred Ashes where located had ghost guarding it. Those Ghost is revealed to be sustained by Lyrium if Oghren is with the group and the Mountain is completely covered in it.

Not to mention repeated explanation that "finishing moves are not canon"

I think trespasser brings up a great philosophical possibility of the sundering... the remnants or whatever of the spirit there talk as if there are multiple instances of the spirit all truly one, but split from itself. It brings up an intriguing possibility that these spirits arent' mimicking these people, but are the sundered pieces trapped in the fade. It explains quite a lot actually.. why Wynne survives as long as she does, how Cole takes such a personal affront to what happens to the human that he becomes him, the "immortality" of Cory/Solas/Flemeth (especially Cory, notice the "solution" is to bind the physical form to the fade as well), and of course Leliana... maybe the spiritual portion of Leliana could not let her duty go to the point she "remade" herself as needed.
It also is supported that the Titan and the song is very similar to an eastern "all are one" philosophy... but then, I'm a philosopher (both in heart and by paper
) and I naturally look far deeper into things than maybe I should!

This track from Type-0 is so fitting for the creepiness of this, "Choosing How to Die".
Man this is freaky but I love how neatly and unexpectedly they tied it up. Very smooth move removing what could be seen as an inconsistency.
Makes me really wish they'll tie all the open threads this cleanly.
The perfect epitaph for Leliana: "at least she did stuff". ROFL
*just joking
Or something like "At least she did something……unlike YOU."
Statistically speaking, it's likely to be true for anyone who happens to read it.
I'm... actually okay with this, though I've never killed her, myself. Kind of reminds me of

It's kind of amusing to take away Leliana's gear before tainting the ashes. She'll just try to punch you to death. I just wish it was more hysterical punching, like she's just batting her arms against him rapidly screaming "You monster!" and sobbing.
Leliana is the Aerith to Thedas... a crazy, Ms. Stabbity-Stab kind, but still, the lyrium brings her into being and she will be back again if needed, but in the meantime, she returns to the lyrium/Fade/whatever.
Loopy! But also kind of amazing.
SO the survived HoF after the ultimate sacrifice was a spirit afterall, kinda like justice, good to know.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to think "Weekes did this!" I'm very pleased with what he's done so far. I don't think he likes plot-holes that big, and this explanation is much better than nothing. So yes, thank you Patrick.
Cabot voice: Also Titans.
You know, as much as I really loved David, and I did. But I'm really preferring Weekes right now. He's doing lots of great stuff. He seems to take pains to at least try to close up plot holes and give fans closure.
Someone on the Solas thread pointed out the fridge horror in making spirit!Leliana the Divine of the murderpope variety.
