I don't think BioWare is going to screw up Andromeda.  I seriously have faith in them, that they will make a solid game.  They have the resources and potential to make this game a late 2016 (or early 2017) game of the year contender.

We all love Mass Effect, and I know some of us are skeptical after ME3 and the fact (for some) Shepard and company are missing from ME:A.

Bioware has provided me a decent list of satisfying games: Baldur's Gate Franchise, Neverwinter Nights Franchise , KotoR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect Franchise. For me, that track record has me coming back to Bioware for new games. One disappointing game isn't going to be relationship breaking.

I've never played DA for more than 30 minutes in the CC, but at that point I was just feeling exhausted with the fantasy genre as a whole. Maybe it's a great series that I would enjoy and add to my list above. DA never disappointment me because I looked at the game, felt that it wasn't for me and didn't buy in.

Basically, it's this:

I'd probably give up on ME:A, and then evaluate the next Bioware game on its own merits.

You know, like a normal person.

Well, as it is I feel kind of suspicious of anything Bioware makes at this point, couldn't scrounge up enough interest so far to get DA:I-Traspasser.

That means that I won't consider pre-ordering Bioware games at this point. We'll see what happens in the future with other games.

What does it mean "give up on Bioware"? Like no longer getting any of their products not believing they can recapture the glory? Not a chance. I would give them a chance with every product that interests me. I do the same with all the video game companies. A priori considering all their future products failed does not have anything positive with it. And it has a negative side - missing out on a potentially awesome game.

I just don't understand statements like this.

Nah, it's not like there are a lot of game companies allow you to have a gay protagonist.

Still struggling to beat DA:I, simply because I can't get into the game.. I've watched it as a "movie" when someone cut out most of the gameplay and only added the dialogues, and cut scenes.

And I'm such a huge fan of the ME Universe.  I'd probably not give up on ME and BioWare.

I feel your struggle, I decided to redownload the game in attempt to try again lol

I will give up on Mass Effect and i will going to wait for a brand new IP from Bioware, the Trilogy is an exception.

Square Enix FF13 was a bit dissapointment for me but after they bring up 13-2 and LR and many crystal ff's and mmo's i play only the retro Final Fantasy games instead. FF15 and FF7 remake got a bit of a "spark of hope" for the final fantasy franchise but it is still only a hope for me.

But again Bioware is a completely different company and Mass Effect is a completely different franchise.

I am hoping that Mass Effect: Andromeda is a cross between Mass Effect 1 and 2.

The way I see it, if Bioware makes 10 horrible games and then one really excellent games from now, why the heck would I skip the excellent one? No, as long as their titles appeal to me I will keep buying them. Of course I'm going in with lower expectations than back when Mass Effect was completely new, but no matter what It'd be stupid to pass up great games if Bioware eventually makes more of them.

I think DA:I was good too, but it was dangerously close to being downright mediocre too. It was a 7/10 game for me, but it had some of the BIoware qualities I wanted, like custom player avatars, building relationships and tons of player agency.

But they should definitely try to find more of a drive in what they want to make instead of trying to make what fans want, because I'm getting kind of tired of that, especially since DA:I took no risks with its story and it was a very forgettable journey, apart from some of the revelations and Trespasser, but that seemed like a subplot next to the Inquisition vs Breach/Corypheus.

I'm hoping Andromeda tries fresh ideas Bioware feel confident in pulling off while being aware that going too big and too open-world might just turn a dozen players off, and that cinematic dialogue is something people really want instead of free-camera dialogue that feels rigid and oh-god-when-will-something-happen!?

Oh yeah, and proper side-quests would be great too. If the world is so big that you can't make enough content for it, shrink the explorable space and make a game where less amounts to more, THROUGH PROPER SIDE-QUESTS!  :P

It be hard for me to play another Mass Effect game. I just can't see this messing up for me anyway unless most of the focus is on MP.

Another problem not being the open world experience I want.

My expectations are pretty high for MEA. I hope that it is going to be revolutionary. Bioware got to take the challenge and the risk to make a new revolutionary game. Many companies are afraid to take on the shoulders too much risk and instead they take the "good ol' path" with new added features.

These games take the path of revolution instead of reforms and make the gaming more bigger and more memorable. Those are the games we need in this generation.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but as it says on the top of my screen, Bioware is a division of EA.

EA is not in the business of revolutionizing anything, more in the business of trying to check as many boxes as they can for every type of game they make.

It's all about streamlining and the lowest common denominator.

Don't kid yourselves.

No one on these forums is going to give up on Bioware.

You people are obsessive by nature.

Bioware knows they can count on your business.

Bioware would have to turn all of this into a first person, gung-ho, war shooter with absolutely no story for me to stop buying anything new.  Otherwise, and despite the myriad of complaints from people who have no idea (or little idea) of what it takes to actually make a game, I'll be Bioware-loyal.

Sure, there are things that can be done to make these stories different, or even better in some eyes, but since I can barely handle Poser, nevermind Maya and I gave up on teaching myself how to program when my health made it near impossible to retain what I'd learned, I'll let the people who are paid to do the job... do the job.  I enjoy their creations, and let my imagination do the rest, if necessary.

I haven't been disappointed, so far. Then again, I take the stories the storytellers give me... or write my own.

When bad games are made, all it does is make it so that I'm more likely to wait to see reviews before I purchase.  If the reviews are glowing, I will purchase.  If they are mixed, I'll play games in my backlogged library until the game in question comes down in price and then I'll buy it.

I'm not going to burn Bioware in effigy to satisfy some weird pop culture tribalism.

I'm tired of people crapping on me4 before we even know anything about it. I say let's get a head start and start crapping on me5 or even me6.

I doubt that there's much that Bioware could do to make me give up on them.  Then again, I could say the same thing for any gaming company, really.  I'm fairly easy to please, I rarely hold grudges, I get over things pretty quickly, and as long as a game doesn't frustrate me (too much), I'm usually pretty happy with it.  I suppose that's why I like Inquisition, and the ME3 endings didn't bother me all that much, though I can freely admit that they sucked and felt very out-of-place and forced.

A good example of how forgiving I am with game companies would be my penchant to still buy Square-Enix games.  SE games are not what they used to be, narratively and in terms of pacing and setting.  In one case, the Fabula Nova Crystallis series of games (specifically Final Fantasy XIII and its sequels), the entire series got completely bogged down in its own mythology, did a poor job of getting across the idea of urgency the story was trying to tell, and ended up turning the main character into Mary Sue archetype.

But I still like them.  And I'll still buy Final Fantasy 15 when it comes out.  And if it sucks, I'll buy 16 or 17 (whichever one isn't an MMO), after that.  I have hope that there'll be a great game again.

I know that this was a long answer, and not everyone might read it, but I wanted to explain why I feel this way.  Call me an enabler, but I trust that at some point, game developers will come through.  Doesn't mean that I'll buy blatant cash-grabs/Mary Sue stories like Lightning Returns same day it releases.

That, my friends, is our duty and right.

No, definitely not.

I loved DAII, enjoyed ME3 and DAI despite the endings, and I look forward to MEA.

Even if it is a total disappointment, i'm not going to let that ruin my anticipation for DA4.

There's only two times in the past i've been truly disappointed with Bioware: When ME2 was released, and when I played through the ME3 endings.

For ME2, I ended up giving it another chance, and found that there was actually things about that game that I enjoyed. The ME3 endings I still don't like to this day, and I went in prepared before playing ME3 for the first time, but man, that bit after being shoot by Harbinger's beam was so weird. It felt like Shepard had been transferred to some alternative dimension or something.

But regardless of those two disappointments, I will always love the Bioware games, and there isn't a single game from them that's been so disappointing that I never want to play it again.

So that's my answer: I will continue buying future Bioware games, even if MEA disappoints me, and just like with ME2, I will give it another chance, and see if I enjoy it more on my second run.

I think I've learned a few things from being more invested in Bioware games, and games in general, over the past few years:

1) Get used to disappointment.

2) Don't get so invested that you'll be disappointed if you spend $60 and 60 hours of time into a game.

3) Games are about the journey, not the destination.

4) There is always fanfiction.  And if you don't like what is out there, make your own.

5) Game companies are always evolving their art and craft.  Just because one game sucks in a series doesn't mean they all do, or will.  I hated Fallout 3.  I tried New Vegas and loved it.  I probably shouldn't say, "Bethesda sucks!" based on one unplayable game.

6) Overall, consider the progress that Bioware has made for games (having choices carry over is pretty huge, for example).  I think they may have even pioneered it.

So as somebody who used to be really harsh on them, I would give them slack.
